Leonardo DiCaprio flew by private jet to the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland to attack the “greed” of the energy industry, while demanding more action on climate change.

In a speech to world leaders, business chiefs, and campaigners, DiCaprio called for more action in the battle against global warming and called out the energy industry for denying the problem. Fossil fuels, he insisted, must be kept in the ground to avoid catastrophic climate change. “We simply cannot afford to allow the corporate greed of the coal, oil and gas industries to determine the future of humanity,” DiCaprio explained. “Those entities with a financial interest in preserving this destructive system have denied, and even covered up the evidence of our changing climate… Enough is enough. You know better. The world knows better. History will place the blame for this devastation squarely at their feet.

The solution, DiCaprio believes, is to severely trim humanity’s carbon emissions. The world’s oil, gas, and coal reserves should be left in the ground: “Our planet cannot be saved unless we leave fossil fuels in the ground where they belong. Twenty years ago, we described this problem as an addiction. Today, we possess the means to end this reliance.” This comes after reports from WikiLeaks last year, where published e-mails revealed the A-list actor took six private flights between New York and Los Angeles in just six weeks back in 2014.

How can anyone take these people seriously? WE, the little people, have to reduce our “carbon footprint” but its OK for this Douche to jet around the world wagging his finger at us. Either practice what you preach or get lost. Enough IS enough, you’re just an actor, take your trophy and leave the rest of us alone.

I read about 10 of those. I thought Davos was more about what the Billionaires wanted? Might have that confused with the Bilderberg group meetings, but I don’t think so. Maybe the quotes are from the Clown Circus set up by the MegaBillionaires to hide in plain site their misanthropic endeavors.

The Already Too Rich are /if not already/ destroying our Country along with the rest of the world.

Everybody should work “to get rich” but when you make suppliers sign a “anti-anti coal” pledge to get Koch Bros business so that Koch Bros than make an additional Billion Dollars===THATS NOT wanting to get rich. Its mental illness.

And too many saps, many posting here, support such self destructive positions.

“I see stupid people everywhere.” M Knight bobbo.

    • noname says:

“I thought Davos was more about what the Billionaires wanted?”

What the Billionaires want is more of what little the 99% have, money.

How do Billionaires get the 99% to “willingly” give up more of their earnings, in one word “rhetoric”. Why is a Billionaire winning over many of the GOP voters, “rhetoric”!

To placate and persuade the 99% to do anything, it takes, “rhetoric”! To sell people on false dreams, Billionaires need to know the talking points, people want to hear.

It’s not that the Billionaires believe in the “rhetoric”, it the facts that people do believe in the “rhetoric” that enables Billionaires to get rich and screw over the 99%.

People are so frustrated, people can’t stand what is sound doctrine (it’s too slow, requires self-discipline, it’s not convenient, …). Instead, to suit people’s own desires, people only listen to those people (Billionaires) who say what their itching ears want to hear!

So to be listened too, Billionaires need talking points and that’s what Davos in part is about!

      • Hmeyers says:

“Why is a Billionaire winning over many of the GOP voters, “rhetoric”!”

        Yes, it’s true.

Trump at least knows what the right words are and what people in the country are concerned about.

Bernie also falls in that group.

Washington politicians don’t understand the rest of the country. Washington D.C., everyone is wealthy, has job security and is always in an economic boom! Poor people cannot afford to live there.

Trump didn’t need the money, but did The Apprentice for 10 years because he enjoys being around regular people.

It’s called people skills. Most billionaires and elites wouldn’t know what to do around regular people.

I prefer Trump over Bernie because I don’t think Bernie would have the willpower to enact his agenda and Bernie’s agenda would require an efficient and effective federal government — our federal government is ineffective.

Trump = center left nationalist citizens first
Bernie = left left nationalist citizens first

        • MikeN says:

Bernie flipflopped and now supports immigration from Mexico, amnesty, and all the rest. Before he was talking about helping the poor Americans not having their wages cut by competition.

Trump also flipflopped in favor of amnesty, but the media is painting the opposite impression.

      • Hmeyers says:

By the way, some have described Trump’s takeover of the GOP nomination (despite being a “center left” candidate) similar to what Bloomberg did in New York running as mayor as Republican.

And to some extent, Bernie falls into this as well being an independent and not a member of the Democratic Party.

Both the Republican and Democratic party are historically weak and none of their bases are particularly happy with their party’s performance.

Both parties had coronation, money train, aloof candidates (Jeb and Hillary) with no interest in the issues that the rank and file voters in their parties care about.

Jeb’s plan was suck up all the money.
Hillary’s plan was not debate and hide until she got the nomination.

        Howz that working out?

        • MikeN says:

Rhetoric. Yes…. and Trump is based on the voting Puke base recognizing after 40 years of lies that the Republican don’t deliver what they promise.

Sadly, it will take another 40 years for the same dumb F*cks to recognize they CAN’T HAVE what they want.

          Idiots.

          • MikeN says:

He’s appealing to a lot more than 30% of Republicans. I thought it was just his typical behavior when he declared “I’m going to win! Get used to it!”

Actually, for most of the rest, I’m with HMyers on it. Surprisingly rational/centrist Trump most likely is and rich enough to not be bought by his golf buddies. THAT is a good thing.

Something I haven’t seen said anywhere else, a bobboriginal: Trumps wealth is based on USA properties. He has no ability/interest in outsourcing that Empire. Makes him truly unique among the Already Too Rich and why he isn’t going after MediCare, Social Security, and isn’t for Welfare for the Mega Banks.

I think more than any other candidate, Trump is set up for assassination.
