FUNNY!!!! And just a little bit sad.

  1. Hmeyers says:

Is this real or is it fiction?

    If it’s real — WOW!

    • Hmeyers says:

Bobbo — you miss something important.

In ancient times, emperors declared themselves to be gods (Persia, hell even 1940s Japan!!!)

So it is a natural instinct for governments to want to be “god”.

Governments would like to be the final arbitrators of what right and wrong is.

      Case in point, “humanism”.

Religion may have a purpose — to fight off that tyranny that lurks in the minds of the wealthy.

Like those 1%er jackasses that meet at Bilderberg.

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

HM–when you create a response, when you read it after posting, do you RECOGNIZE when you are and are NOT dodging the question or is your actual thinking/orientation to life that fuzzy?

Case in point: YOU say: “Everyone needs to believe in “something more” and higher purpose”.” /// I disagreed and challenged you to: “Demonstrably…. not true. But I’d agree “many” do………What is your something more, your higher purpose or that of man in general?”

WHY DON’T YOU ANSWER THE QUESTION? This Hilliaryesque non responsive evasion is routine with you AND way too many conservative types: Deal with the disagreement. Learn. Make better arguments, THINK better.

Bobbo — you miss something important. /// I didn’t miss a thing. YOU didn’t answer the question at all.

In ancient times, emperors declared themselves to be gods (Persia, hell even 1940s Japan!!!) /// Totally off point and non responsive.

So it is a natural instinct for governments to want to be “god”. /// One example does not “set a rule” for the “natural instinct for governments” whatever anthropomorphism you want to establish…..unless YOU are the current incarnation of some ancient emperor.

Governments would like to be the final arbitrators of what right and wrong is. ////…….. but they are. What else is a man in jail running his tin cup against the jail bars saying “You can’t do this to me?” The fact that you can disagree doesn’t mean the arbitration is on going.

Case in point, “humanism”. /// You have named a dot but connected it to nothing.

Religion may have a purpose — to fight off that tyranny that lurks in the minds of the wealthy. /// Oh for Christ’s Sake: that is NOT the purpose of any religion. Buy and read a dictionary.

Like those 1%er jackasses that meet at Bilderberg. /// Ha, h a. Well…..we agree but I’ll still quibble and say Bilderberg is the top .oo1 Per Cent and the next .999 Plus the next 10 to 30 % are wanna-bes.

Its the wanna-bes who think and vote AS IF they were the top .000 that vote against their own interests.

…………Like everyone here who will vote for Jeb Bush rather than Joe Biden in the coming election.

        Its just that clear. (………….sarc/off)

  2. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

People on tv are clowns (think Trump…and fairly any politician while they are on tv).

What ought to disturb and shock you is what 97% of qualified educated thoughtful Religious types believe. Can we start a list:

    1. Of the 1000’s of religious denominations that all believe they are right and every other one is wrong, mine happens to be the right one.

    2. You can’t know the mind of God….. so here in detail is what you must believe.

    3. I can’t explain shit that happens right in front of me…. but here is what happens after we die.

    4. My beliefs may be illogical, self contradictory, hypocritical, and impossible….. but I still believe which is what a strong God Fearing faith is all about.

………..and so forth. Its what happens when you deny science, deny rationality, fail to question for yourself.

    • Hmeyers says:

“3. I can’t explain shit that happens right in front of me…. but here is what happens after we die. ”

Best quote I’ve read in a while! I’ll be using that one!

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Well thanks HM….there’s that spark again. Fan it.

So…….. which group of Science Deniers do you think make more shocking statements? …. or would it be more precisely self dealing ought to be prosecuted for fraud type statements?

        • Hmeyers says:

You lost me, but when I am confronting a creationist —

I skip all the bullshit and ask them to explain dinosaur bones.

          It’s comedy gold!

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

They used to be explained away as the Giants said to exist in biblical times….. but science eats away at the what people can see with their own eyes, and that Hollywood makes pictures about…. leaving the Magisterium of Faith and Faith Alone….. untouched.

Surprising the hold religion has on people……… I blame Darwin. (sic—joke–2 degrees removed)

          • Hmeyers says:

            Bobbo

Everyone needs to believe in “something more” and higher purpose”.

You do. I do. People that go to church. Agnostics. Atheists. Even Richard Dawkins.

I’m fine with someone’s religious beliefs as long as they don’t try to piss in my oatmeal or make up horseshit to hurt children.

In the 1800s, a lot of people couldn’t read and write. It probably hurt to be a child who couldn’t read and know one that could.

Teaching kids in Mississippi that the Earth is 4000 years isn’t helping them, it hurts them.

I have compassion towards religions to the extent that it isn’t hurting other people.

I was at a water park a few weeks ago, and in the crowd there was a little Muslim girl in a “burka-like” swimsuit. I wonder how she felt being the only kid wearing a burka-swimsuit and if she has brothers, they obviously weren’t.

            Bobbo

Everyone needs to believe in “something more” and higher purpose”. /// Demonstrably…. not true. But I’d agree “many” do.

You do. //// Buy and read a dictionary. Look up the word “existentialist.”

I do. //// What is your something more, your higher purpose or that of man in general?

People that go to church. Agnostics. Atheists. Even Richard Dawkins. /// I doubt Dawkins is anything except an existentialist…. the few Googles supposedly on subject were off point… so who knows…. and what would it matter?

I’m fine with someone’s religious beliefs as long as they don’t try to piss in my oatmeal or make up horseshit to hurt children. /// But that is what they all do. Religions pulls people apart into separate groups. Science pulls people together. Don’t try to nitpick.

In the 1800s, a lot of people couldn’t read and write. It probably hurt to be a child who couldn’t read and know one that could. //// Yes…. so what? I was hurt as a child that I couldn’t fly. Good thing no one else could either…. I suppose. As the Buddhists inform: Life is pain, and then you die.

Teaching kids in Mississippi that the Earth is 4000 years isn’t helping them, it hurts them. /// I agree. Religion by definition, as it is wrong, is injurious per se. Your concern that there are levels of injury does not negate the constant ignorance propagated by the various religions.

I have compassion towards religions to the extent that it isn’t hurting other people. /// You can’t have compassion towards religions….only to other people. And given that religion hurts all so infected, you have zero compassion for those who are religious. Its math.

I was at a water park a few weeks ago, and in the crowd there was a little Muslim girl in a “burka-like” swimsuit. I wonder how she felt being the only kid wearing a burka-swimsuit and if she has brothers, they obviously weren’t. /// Anything from ashamed to confused to proud……. unless you want to assume something.

Silly Hoomans. Clinging to a god that makes no sense and they can’t see, while rejecting Global Warming that they can see and feel and the logic of which is inescapable. Silly doesn’t quite capture the abysmal ignorance. Elsewhere I joked about blaming Darwin. And I do: evolutionarily advantageous for kiddies to believe what they are told by their parents/elders. It can be true or not but it is an evolutionary advantage…. until it isn’t.

Until it isn’t……. is right about now.

  3. GOD! says:

It’s funny how religion is knocked like this — as it should be.

But what’s even more “funny” is how the political party followers are so blind to the fact that they TOO are just as RELIGIOUS when they are also treated like money pawns in another very similar P.R. game. Case in point: Democrats! Just for starters, look at what one of our own MASTERS of this blog have stated when he/she said Hillary would still be a better choice than any of the Republican candidates. Never mind any of the HISTORY and INCOMPETENCE the bitch has demonstrated. Clearly, with “thinking” like that they too are just as blindly RELIGIOUS!!!

“Funny” how nearly all religions preach about the evils of money and yet seem to need more and more of it. Political parties too! THINK about it — if you can (no thanks to your schooling which hasn’t taught you HOW to think or remember any FACTS).

…And yes, the Republican’s have their more visible idiots as well. Plenty of them! But you don’t have to sift through all the media hype to see these “repukes” like you do with almost every single elected ass party member — which have even BIGGER numbers.

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Who do you think would make a better Pres than Hilliary?

      …………and why???

In general: the Republicans WORSHIP the Already Too Rich and grant them Corporate Welfare and tax relief and benefits PAID FOR by cutting social programs for you and me.

So………even the “better” Pukes ultimately are worse than any Dumbocrat because of the above general failing.

Dumbo’s also worship the Already Too Rich because they, being only hooman, also are totally corrupted by Greed………but……. they recognize they have to give we the people some crumbs because we have the votes. IE==they aren’t as target fixated as the Pukes….they more than Pukes can weigh and balance more than one issue at a time.

In your terminology, isn’t that funny?

      • ± says:

Did you start drinking early or never go to bed? It makes no difference who slams the plane into the mountain.

This blog would not exist except for people pursuing the “deck chair arrangement on the Titantic” argument.

PS — I forgot to point out again that you and all other R/D voting sheeple can take the credit when it all fails (think 2000 years in the future, like we now know why Rome failed 2000 years later). You are on record here more than once proclaiming others to vote their own self interest. Scum.

PPS — still there is a higher percentage of non-sheeple in the microcosm of this blog than in the general populous and I certainly don’t want to offend those people who are the only hope for this country. Perkel excluded who will attempt to help to re-hire the status quo regardless of his intelligence.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

re PS—I have posted too many vote against their own self interest. As to voting for your own interests I have posted a few times showing that voting for social net programs is in your own self interest but it is long term thinking rather than short term.

As you don’t understand the self defeating mechanics of voting TP, distinctions that are passed your level of ability…..like quantum mechanics.

  4. IM72 says:

Would one of you intellectual non-religious types (like bobbo as an example) please provide the name of a book (or preferably a link to a web page) that explains in reputable exactness how this planet and everything on it came into existance? Thanks, and don’t rely on there being a response to any BS that you may offer up.

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

The formation of our solar system/galaxy is well understood.

Its 12 Billion years before that that is unknown. Fluctuations in the quantum field is just too sophisticated for me.

Lawrence M. Krauss (2014) “Universe from NOTHING!”

      https://youtube.com/watch?v=sbsGYRArH_w

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

How the planet came into existence is well understood and documented with exactitude. Your Science Denying issue is 12 Billions years before that with how the Universe started. You can google the Big Bang, or You tube for some lectures/debates on the issue. What is not known is how something came from nothing or what the state of the universe was one millisecond before the great expansion.

Don’t get hung up on the definition of nothing compared to empty space. They aren’t the same thing.

Answering the question with “god did it” answers nothing……..ultimately, seems to me this will be unknowable. We might know how a universe “can” or “might” come into existence which is pretty close, and good enough for me, but not for sure how”ours” came into existence. The answer is: quantum fluctuations that were out of balance…………but I can’t understand what that “means” at all.

bobbonote: this was start of my first draft that got lost in the internet so I wrote the shorter version above…. then this appeared on restarting Firefox……. ha, h a…..nothing is lost in the internet…. which is why Hillary is in trouble. I predicted a few days ago Biden would step in because…..Hillary will just keep digging that hole even deeper….. and the violation and her lies are CLEAR….. and the FEDS are on the case.

BS only takes you so far. Politics is like religion in that respect.

So……….raise your hand: who seriously thinks the information about how the Universe formed is hard to find?

      ……………….Bueller?
