The actress perhaps best known for her role as Laura Ingalls Wilder on the TV series “Little House on the Prairie” is taking a run at Congress.
Melissa Gilbert announced Monday her candidacy to represent Michigan’s 8th congressional district as a Democrat, the seat currently held by Republican Mike Bishop.
Bishop was first elected in 2014 and will be running as the incumbent in 2016.
Michigan’s 8th district includes the state capital, Lansing, and Oakland, Ingham and Livingston counties, where Gilbert and her husband live.
She’ll fit right in. After all, she owes just $360,000 in back taxes. http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2015/06/12/melissa-gilbert-taxes/71137014/
Good night..
Bishop is a turd and anyone else is a step up,but a Democrat can’t win in that district.
Yippee!! A doable Congresswoman.
You go, Half-Pint!
Well, history knows cases, when artists and celebrities became involved into politics, actually with not bad outcomes. I wish her all the best, she looks like a decent woman. Although after watching House of Cards I’m not sure if entering into politics is good for anyone. Maybe there are people who were born to do it 🙂 Good luck then!
Oh, she looks hot! I would not mind putting a nice, successful lady in congress. My wife taught me that women cn be really well organised and can be great leaders. I know, it is not so good when I need to learn such things but hey – nobody’s perfect.
