She’s at it again, only this time, she may have finally gone too far, which considering her utterances in the past is really saying something. One columnist has labeled her the Britney Spears of the Right who “must be a liberal infiltrator whose purpose is to give conservatism a bad name.”

Friday night, Ann Coulter, the Right’s pit bull attack dog, called former vice-presidential candidate and US Senator, current presidential candidate John Edwards a ‘faggot.’ She tried to retract it later, sort of, by saying it was a joke, but that word is to gays what the N word is to blacks. It’s the kind of knee slapping humor the right seems to be going after these days. The joke’s on her because — to their credit — even former supporters and friends on the Right are denouncing her. Also, it may give a boost to Edwards.

Is this the tact the Right is going to use in the upcoming election: name calling instead of issues since Bush has screwed the pooch with Iraq and so much more that Republicans got kicked out of Congress and they’re running scared? Perhaps this will finally silence (yeah, right) this miserable excuse for a spokesperson the Right has used for years and they can get someone who actually is willing to talk intelligently about issues instead of spewing bile for the love of doing so. On the other hand, the Right seems to be it’s own worst enemy at times.

By the way, actor and occasional writer of satire, Steven Weber, wrote a funny piece on going on a date with her, a distinctly unpleasant thought.

  1. Pekuliar says:

She should have called him a “Nazi” that is a favorite insult used by the liberals (see above). Accusing a person of being a part of a political movement that glorifies the murder of millions based on racial superiority is no problem to these hyper sensitive hypocrites.

  2. TJGeezer says:

31 – I was just quoting a relative’s report on how people react in Bangkok. But I agree with you, actually. It’s an insult to half the human race. I’d call her a squirrel, but then it’d be an insult to squirrels. So what’s someone to do, who refuses to take Coulter seriously except as a spreader of hate memes? Reporting the opinions of people in Bangkok who are aware of these things seems like the least I could do. I mean, the game with Coulter is extreme assertions of unsupported opinion, right?

Rest easy. It’s all in the spirit of Coulter her?self.

  3. Blackpaw says:

Dudes – just call her a “Coulter”. There’s no worse insult.

#30 – I had a link in there but it edited out or something. This one is short: http://newsbusters.org/node/11169

*****Update II: As of 1:30 PM EST, there are 504 articles at Google News concerning Ann Coulter’s comments yesterday at CPAC about John Edwards. Regardless of your opinion of those comments, how can they be close to as offensive as someone voicing regrets over a failed assassination attempt on a sitting Vice President?
