Can Koko have banana now?

  1. The DON says:

I have only recently heard about Koko, and the extensive vocabulary achieved.

The gestures for ‘Man’ and ‘stupid’ appear to differ only in the straightening of the proximal phalanges.
These two signs can be seen at 27″ into the clip, but immediately after that, the same sign for ‘man’ is then used with the subtitle for ‘stupid’.

    Bad subtitling?

The editing reminds me of those clips of politicians, where words from many different speaches are put together to convey a different message.

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Excellent summation. Nice to read given the level of denial in the USA.

I haven’t seen much on the solar dip in the 2000’s. Deniers using that mix of natural and man made to argue man made is not taking place.

No Name: have you fully recognized how dead our mass interconnected world wide society already is, if not our entire existence on this planet?

that is the science of it……….. absent some mass reaction when reality is finally recognized.

Lag times and feed back loops: gonna kill us. All.

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Like lightning on the horizon, the Fat Lady has already sung.

Lag times and positive feedbacks……. absent some heroic recognition of the reality…… our grandkiddies ARE ALREADY DEAD.

Poetic license………. only on the timing.

      • noname says:

Really, “Poetic license………. only on the timing.” how lame!

Yes, “our grandkiddies” no doubt will die, we all die; unless science can beat the Hayflick limit.

I am not fatalistic and haven’t surrendered to fate. I still have some fight! If we pull together, we can still shape our collective destiny if we can get off our current multi-lane path of self-destruction, factionalism and infighting?

Some of the first rules of War (haves, 1% vs. 99% have-nots):

1.) Disrupt communications & intelligence: Done, most media today is brought and paid for and fewer and fewer people can afford a college education. But we have smart phones!

2.) Cut off supplies: Done, people have less means of self and family support, economically, emotionally, spiritually, ….

3.) Divide and conquer: Done, avoid the fight by allowing your enemy to destroy itself with infighting from contrived societal fissures. Our government, corporations (Wall Street), politics and justice system is dividing us along the lines of the 1% and 99%.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Recognizing cause and effect is not fatalistic when there are no other causes that can be introduced in time.

Can you imagine setting nukes off in the Sahara to create a sun screen? THEN—maybe World Wide Annihilation will be avoided……………. ……… ……………. BUT ONLY IF ……… …………….. at the same time we stop all coal and oil burning and even sequester much of what we have already put into the atmosphere.

THERE is your fatalism Beyond that….. its all established science.

          ……….Sucks to be hooman.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Mostly on the mark….but as you almost imply: shading us from the Sun won’t stop the perils of burning coal and carbon and in fact might hasten those associated other evil direct consequences.

Solar Cells: also brought to us by Military Research.

Lots of good stuff initiated by spending for National Defense….. as long as the Nukes don’t get us.

          • NewFormatSux says:

Your argument for nuclear power is unacceptable to the green religious movement. For them global warming is just a means to implementing their agenda, and thus nuclear power is off the table, and in its place are measures that according to all scientists would do nothing to reduce CO2 emissions. Indeed, developing world that accounts for vast majority of emissions are allowed to be exempted, because they are more interested in implementing the policies in the West.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Proving how reasonable my own position/concerns is.

            thank you.

I do accept all bananas…. peels in place.

          • noname says:

Srry bobbo, you go home now, no banana for you!

  2. 2000whatever says:

A gorilla believing in global warming is makes perfect sense.

  3. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

    Ummmmm….. yes …… totally staged.

Next up: Koko volunteers for Mars One Way Mission.

  4. Koko says:

Me no like Al Gore. He touch me, down there.

    • Koko Therapist says:

      You gorillas are all alike!

If you hadn’t dressed like that he wouldn’t have touched you!

Didn’t your mom warn you not to dress like that!

  5. NewFormatSux says:

Yes, global warmers prefer to have reporters just say what they are told to say, and not do any independent thinking.

    • noname says:

What a Koch whiner, “reporters just say what they are told to say”, such sour grapes!

And who really cares or even trusts what reporters say? It’s what the data that scientist and academics collect that matters!

Even the Chinese government since 2007 has changed its attitude towards climate change policy and has become one of the major drivers of low-carbon technology developments.

But don’t let the facts or science get in the way of your obvious groupthink!

      • Koko says:

Koko think noname retard. Koko think noname dumber than chimp, and chimp too dumb, even stupider than man. Even chimp no him name.

        • noname says:

Awe did I hurt Koko feelings? So sad, so bad, I hurt my simian friend.

I almost cared. Want some bananas with that whine?

          Can Koko sign hello?

        • Hmeyers says:

Back before the modern day zoo lock down, I was in high school and we went to the zoo.

I stuck my ink pen slightly in the monkey cage and a monkey grabbed with both hands and after a slight struggle ran off with it.

None of the adults saw this.

          • Monkey's Uncle says:

And with that pen, he wrote ObamaCare.

And Pelosi proclaimed it good… without reading it.

      • NewFormatSux says:

Email to New York Times’s Andrew Revkin

This is the second time this week I have written you thereon, the first about giving space in your blog to the Pielkes.

The vibe that I am getting from here, there and everywhere is that your reportage is very worrisome to most climate scientists.

Of course, your blog is your blog.

But, I sense that you are about to experience the ‘Big Cutoff’ from those of us who believe we can no longer trust you, me included.

  6. Dayzdnconfucious says:

  8. Mother Nature says:

    Save the Earth?! FROM WHAT?!?!?!?

Stupid humans. If you want to save YOURSELVES then admit it. The “Earth” will be just fine.

If you humans really want to save your species (as well as many others) then you damn well better start learning how to LIVE TOGETHER! However, that starts with COOPERATION!

… Good luck with that cooperation thing in your coming election season.

  9. Hmeyers says:

Well, whatever Jewish guy thought that would be a great way to bend ethics and make a YouTube video and get a lot of hits, I tip my hat.

On the other hand, I am saddened by the callous and insensitive attempt to politicize an amazing creature.

I do agree with this “MAN .. STUPID”.

It probably didn’t take Koko long to figure that out.

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

      Jews?

“On the other hand, I am saddened by the callous and insensitive attempt to politicize an amazing creature.” //// Whaaaaa? Stuck in a zoo, any attention is a nice break in the day.

I am saddened you think creatures can be politicized. THAT is getting totally stuck on the visuals/surface of things even when you OBVIOUSLY know it it totally staged. You know it is BS, but go along with it anyway.

The Jews do have a word for it…..schlonged I think? I’ll have to ask Trump. Another Chimp you should see right through?—–Although its harder say. Rich Pricks several degrees crazy already.

Trumps demonstrates the key character element in most rich folks: they have a single purpose in life. If you help them get more money, you are the Greatest Guy around. Interfere with same, and you are a Loser.

Interesting to see the Koch Brothers put a kinder face on the same BS. Do you see thru them at all?

      • Hmeyers says:

Trump Vs. Clinton is Democrat against Democrat.

Trump is a nationalist. Clinton is a globalist.

I’ll be supporting Trump. Bernie is a nationalist too, by the way. And Biden is a nationalist (i.e. supports the unions).

        Clinton is anti-union, pro-NAFTA and pro-TPP.

Clinton is for oursourcing and is known to be a big outsourcing advocate, lowering your wages, giving your jobs to foreigners.

I was hoping Biden would run.

Trump does not always behave classy. But he’s a Democrat running in a different party.

And Trump is on the correct side of every issue as far as I can tell.

Plus Trump supports gay people and African Americans.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Ha, ha….HM==I basically agree. I would call them both Republicans though as they both support Corporate Welfare and the destruction of the working class.

Maybe closer to the mark, as Ralph Nader has said: both candidates (Parties) are Corporatists.

I don’t know which would be better/less worse. Clinton’s corruption and limitations are well known and predictable. Trump is more of a wild card. Could he fix America the same way he fixed that ice skating rink? I think: maybe. clinton certainly won’t.

I don’t think Trump would do “most” of what he has run on…… like I said: a wild card. its not healthy or rational to run everything a candidate says through your own word translator.

We are waste deep in the big muddy.

          • Hmeyers says:

Hillary is a Wall Street globalist/corporatist that will apologetically out-source your job to enrich her bank account.

And supports things like Disney firing Americans and replacing them with India tech support for half price.

Now — the muddy the water thing — that’s an interesting point.

What Trump needs to do is demoralize, villainize and suppress Clinton enthusiasm.

He doesn’t actually need to act classy.

Hillary Clinton is not a liberal candidate at all, she could be the Koch brothers favorite candidate if she had a (R) in front of her name.

        • NewFormatSux says:

Has Biden ever announced any opposition to anything Obama is doing? Obama has now announced he is going to expand H1Bs even more and give out more green cards and work permits to other immigrants as well, ignoring all caps in the law.

          • Hmeyers says:

“Has Biden ever announced any opposition to anything Obama is doing?”

Biden came out for same sex marriage during the 2012 presidential campaign, really irritating Obama and causing Obama to announce support for same-sex marriage a few days later.

But seriously, when has a vice president ever said anything contrary to the President.

I guess what I am saying is that your comment is stupid because no VP ever says something contrary to a sitting president.

It’s irrelevant anyway, Biden isn’t running. But certainly Biden isn’t in the camp that thinks giving away all of our jobs to foreigners and outsourcing them is a good idea.

          • NewFormatSux says:

How do you know Biden is in that camp?
The only opposition he had to the amnesty plan was he was willing to wait and see if McConnell and Boehner could get it passed by Congress.

      • noname says:

bobbo really, where have you “the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist” been in the last 7000 years?

Yes “creatures can be politicized” and yes the point and reason is to enable the public to get “totally stuck on the visuals/surface of things even when you OBVIOUSLY know it totally staged” as it goes with Donkeys and Elephants oh my and mascots. Maybe, “the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist” is just better than us mere mortals?

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Too fine a point? That the animals aren’t politicized, they are only used to politicize an issue.

          animals are animals.

          apes are apes.

          Hoomans are hoomans.

Donkeys and Elephants haven’t changed at all.

Words don’t change reality….. only the perception of it. Good enough for 95% of the Hoomans, but not good enough for reality.

          Ain’t that a bitch?

          • noname says:

Yep, I agree your words don’t change reality or even remotely reflect it.

It might be a bitch if only you understood some reality instead making your own up!

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

When it comes to hoomans interacting with other hoomans, it is mostly what we make up.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Let me fix that last post the only way we can here by reposting:

          • noname says:

Yes bobbo, “the pragmatic EXISTENTIAL evangelical anti-theist”, congratulations you are indeed limited to and the cause of your own delusions.

To borrow your anemic and oh so not clever close, “Ain’t that a bitch?”

          • bobbo, the pragmatic EXISTENTIAL evangelical anti-theist says:

            “subject to our own illusions…”

Yes…. THATS it exactly. Each of us choosing our own “political philosophy” if anything other than spastic cerebral kneejerking is going on. Kneejerking = Know what I mean noname?

Ain’t that a stitch? (no “b”, no itch–its funny too)

          • noname says:

And what have you learned bobbo, “the pragmatic EXISTENTIAL evangelical anti-theist” from all the rabbit holes you’ve gone down in, even lost in?

Is that it, you just a lost rabbit looking for followers?

          • bobbo, the pragmatic EXISTENTIAL evangelical anti-theist says:

What I’ve learned is right in my name.

            Amusing?

          • noname says:

            k, amusing? …

Well, I am sure you are amused; you are being honest, so; good for you!

Let’s hope Hillary wins so we can finally flush this shithole that the USA has become under all these politicians from both sides.

New constitution with the first amendment being the right to own any gun and cant be over turned by any dumbass supreme court and then free speech for the second amendment.

Can’t wait to hear what Obomba says about his new, unenforceable “gun control” executive action is going to be. He can’t make a person get a license to sell his private collection of firearms. Fuck him and the whore (Hillary) he rode in on.

  13. Binary Addict says:

FYI: The annual CES conference is happening RIGHT NOW (1/6/16)! And what do we get to comment on from our beloved TECH GURU?! Global warming warnings from a (staged) gorilla?

    All I’m asking is:

    WTF?

    • noname says:

      I definitely 2nd that!

I asked the same question not that long ago. The response from “Duh” (a DU blog author?):

      12/22/2015 at 9:06 am

So how many times do you need to be told that DU is not a technology blog?

My suspicion why Dvorak Uncensored is no longer a tech blog, is PCMag economic impact from actual/potential sponsor blow back. Because of Dvorak’s name prominence, various Marketing Departments might feel “Dvorak” himself directly/indirectly endorses or encourages product opinions in DU’s blog. This simplistic misunderstanding may cause withdrawal of PCMag commercial sponsorship.

Also, given ongoing abuse of National Security Letters, DU is much encouraged to effectively neuter government dissenting opinions and voices!

The short is, Business and Government have effectively conspired to impair “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”!

It does seem that originally DU was given to vigorous Tech/Gov review/opinions, but; now it be damned!

Us contributors are just too rowdy and uncontrollable for DU to leave it to chance! IMHO!
