Isn’t it obvious what position each supports?

Men’s upper-body strength predicts their political opinions on economic redistribution, according to new research published in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science.
[…]
In line with their hypotheses, the data revealed that wealthy men with high upper-body strength were less likely to support redistribution, while less wealthy men of the same strength were more likely to support it.

In France, the government fears its people.

In the ‘States the people fear their government.

There are historic reasons for this.

The French had their revolution and guillotined their 1%ers.

The French government knows first hand what can happen when you push people too far.

The American government will have to go the same punishment predicted by the founding fathers: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”Thomas Jefferson

      Oh, such a fail…

Find me a Frenchmen who does not fear their Government and who doesn’t FIRST fight for Government favors, than for his/her freedoms.

Now, check US Government fearing those “who cling to their Bibles and guns”.

French and their EU ilk are cattle tended by the Government for the good of “collective”. That why they executed people in their revolution. Individual there is worthless. US revolution did not execute for “collective good”. Instead, rights of individual were placed first and Government intentionally made weak in servant. Fact that recent US politics attempts to come closer to French model is just perversion and violation of those initial principles.

      • msbpodcast says:

You don’t know the French do you?

The blood of their elites, both the 1%ers and the oligarchs, ran through the streets, and they remember and celebrate that on July 14 every fuckin’ year, and they are quite aware of the power of their citizenry. (It explains their foreign policy, [remember we inherited Vietnam from them because they knew they we in a hopeless fight {that we ended up losing (and still have the casualties roaming our streets.)}])

The French know what the people in “We The People” mean.

We’ve forgotten. We got distracted by all the shiny shit.

        • Mr Diesel says:

          When did Saigon fall?

When did the last US combat units leave Vietnam?

  2. bobbo, Jr Culture critic with Darwin and Freud opining as if it didn't matter says:

After 6 clicks on the link, I got to a password protected page so I never found out what the % different is between strong vs weak rich people in not being able to assess their own long term interests.

It makes sense though, but for the poor strong men as well. Why don’t they have the same attitude as the rich? “Since I can physically keep what I want more than those around me…. why shouldn’t I?—And I do.

Its all much like the question of morality: would you cheat on your wife if it would never be known by anyone but you? Or would you steal…. etc. What values do you have when its only the value and not the social constructs that apply?

…… and what if the % difference is the same between those being good kind christian folks and those who are pedophiles? What does bi-cep size mean then?

    What then???? …… Pedro?

  3. birddog says:

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.
The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:
     1 . Liberals, and
     2. Conservatives.
Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That’s how villages were formed.
Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to BBQ at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement…
Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly BBQ’s and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing.. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.
Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. They became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.
Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass for obvious reasons.
Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare.. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher  testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in  Hollywood  and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn’t fair to make the pitcher also bat.
Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud  or Coors. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, engineers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.
Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America . They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.
Here ends today’s lesson in world history:
It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above.
A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be repeated immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to tick them off.   And there you have it…Let your next action reveal your true self, I’m going to have another beer.

    • Captain Obvious says:

Wow, that’s a whole lot man love around the BBQ.

    • Hmeyers says:

      Cool story, bro.

Left out Santa Clause, but included beer.

No better or worse than the “Lord of The Rings version of human history”. Maybe better than what they teach the kids at school these days …

-1 for not explaining Darth Vader’s role in our history.

+1 as is shorter than average Bobbo post.

  4. So What? says:

So if they’re wealthy they tend to be less supportive of redistribution while if they’re not wealthy they tend to be more support of redistribution, and upper body strength means they work out but has no other bearing on the study.

    • ± says:

I say that if the weak fucks want my stuff, they should come and try to get it. 🙂

  5. MikeN says:

EU says you are no longer allowed to put olive oil in restaurants in refillable bottles, but only factory processed and labelled olive oil. So is this a conservative position, redistributing money towards struggling big producers and hurting local small producers, or a liberal one insisting on regulation and hygiene?

  6. greyangel says:

The report is gibberish to support a non existent relationship between upper body strength and the tendency to support redistribution. I really hope nobody got paid for this drivel. All they proved was that wealthy people don’t feel the need to share and the poor want a share. Maybe I didn’t read close enough…

  7. Buzz Mega says:

Two distinct groups: Them what feel the ends justifies the means. Them what are irrelevant.
