…Walter Slonopas is happy to be without a job. You see, he quit his job last week in order to save his mortal soul.

It wasn’t the job itself that Walter was afraid of, but rather a sign he believes he was given via his income tax forms. The Tennessean reports when Walter received his W-2 form this year, it was labeled 666, the number of the beast. The number appears in the New Testament of the Bible, and is linked to the Antichrist.

“If you accept that number, you sell your soul to the devil,” he says. This isn’t Walter’s first run in with the number at work. On his first day in this job, vice president of sales and marketing for Revstone Corp., Walter was supposed to be assigned employee number 668. He was mistakenly given 666 instead. When he complained, the number was changed.

However, a few months later the company changed systems, and Walter was again assigned 666. This time Walter quit his job, but it only lasted a few days. The company apologized, and changed his number yet again.

The third time this happened was just too much for Walter, though. His former company cannot explain how the outside firm that handles their tax forms assigned him with the number.

While his company would love to have him back, it’s not likely. Walter has no intention of returning, as he feels doing so would show he values money over his faith. “God is worth more than money,” he explains.

No doubt he also pays someone to reinforce his silly belief every weekend, as well.

  1. orchidcup says:

I seem to remember that Bible scholars determined that the number of the beast is actually 661 – NOT 666.

Anyhow, if you can believe this nonsense, the number probably referred to a Roman of the biblical era.

      Rev 13:18

“Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.”

      = 666

It is the number of a man symbolized by the (second) beast, it is not the number of satan/the devil or any other spiritual being .
The variant 616 is found in some texts but is considered by most to be in error.
The number 6 is commonly referenced as the number of man or imperfection.

The second beast, 666, causes all people to worship the first beast.
Some people believe that the first beast refers to various persons of ancient times including Nero. However, that is not correct as none of them were wounded unto death and came back to life.

      • Mr. Dude says:

the first beast appears to be Nimrod (really a title, not what his name actually was) which was and is Osiris, which links to the modern day Illuminati crap, from which may come the second beast.

    >> Walter has no intention of returning, as he feels doing so would show he values money over his faith. “God is worth more than money,” he explains.<<

yeah right that is why "in god wee trust" is printed on all of our currency…. the currency is the god that capitalists really believe in..

  3. The Monster's Lawyer says:

The moran doesn’t deserve employment. There are plenty of devil worshipping, hard working people lined up to take his place.

“There are plenty of devil worshipping, hard working people lined up to take his place.”

Bullshit, Obamabots have no desire to be employed.

      • Dallas says:

That’s not true. I would consider this job if it was not so incredibly beneath me.

  4. George says:

Can I have the now vacant position? I’ll gladly take a VP job with employee number 666.

Numbers and math, much like law, government, corporations, and every other disembodied, ethereal concept exists only in people’s minds and as symbols or words on paper. To be mentally imprisoned by such things is laughable. If by some quirk of evolution, human beings only had 4 digits on each hand, then we would likely have had an octal, instead of a decimal number system and this guy’s employee number would have been 1232, which would be equally as meaningless as 666.

  5. msbpodcast says:

666 = DCLXVI in Roman numerals. Big shit…

  6. Guyver says:

No doubt he also pays someone to reinforce his silly belief every weekend, as well.

    Who cares?

It’s one thing to declare your belief / lifestyle to others (in the hopes they accept you instead of tolerate you). It’s another to go looking for something you disagree with only to gripe about it.

    Life’s too short. Move on.

  7. Grandpa says:

Natural selection in action. The strong survive.

    • So what says:

Actually it’s not, the religious type tend to be r strategy reproducers lots of offspring in hopes that some survive. While k strategy species spend more time in raising fewer offspring. However, at the end of the day it’s all about the species not the individual.

    Yet.

  11. Captain Obvious says:

This is exactly the same reason why the pope quit his job.

  12. ECA says:

for those that understand this, good luck translating it..
There have been many languages and Many CHARACTERS, that represent the alphabet and numbers..
    VI is 6
    …… is 6
and so one and so forth..
LUCKY that they picked a CHARACTER that looks like a 6, in todays Alphabet.. which I think comes BASED on the Arabic..

    • jpfitz says:

Yes the Arabs perfected the numerical quandary known as the roman numeral. Also the problem of zero was addressed. Thank the Arabs for our current day ability to add large numbers without difficulty. But alas, I think most westerners believe the Europeans invented arithmetic.

  13. Supreme Ultrahuman (I see the comment system is still designed for retards.) says:

I feel all tax numbers are evil as they are all constructed of digits that are limited to the range 0-9.

  14. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

So… the Beast has a number. Whatever it is, so what? Does the bible direct that such a number indicates some kind of response should be made? What about the dreaded number-combos wherein the first 3 numerals should not be mouthed because you know 1+2+3==6! Learning to count puts you right on the path to the Beast. We all had better leave this to the priests.

Silly to say the 10’s based number system came from our digits–given other bases came first. That is EXACTLY the same kind of stupid coincidence noting that created the 666 BS==or in fact, all of religion itself.

Such a pity when the good word of the Bible is misapplied. Religious and Looney….. always a bad combination.

    • jpfitz says:

“Religious and Looney….. always a bad combination”

You ain’t kiddin. The religion is always applied to all of the ills and pitfalls experienced by “Loneys” (not a very nice term), now add superstition to a chemically imbalanced schizophrenic brain and you have one who will do what ever the voices say.

The old “god told me to do it”.

  15. deowll says:

    This story is way old.

  16. IDTTMWYTTM says:

Seems like another idiot made the news. Sorry Bobo. Maybe next time.

Perhaps the rest of you might like to see a short little video about the 666 BULLSHIT! You religious IDIOTS probably might want to pass watching it since it uses science and those pesky little things we all call facts and history that you choose to not “believe” in:

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=UkZqFtYtqaI

After seeing it, you might be wondering why Walter Slonopas hasn’t posted anything here. Well, maybe he HAS!

    • orchidcup says:

People will continue to “translate” the book of Revelations as if it refers to contemporary events, in the same way that some people believe that Nostradamus predicted the future with his quatrain verses.

I am more interested in knowing the lottery results for next week.

If God will give me the lottery results for next week, I may become a little less skeptical of magical thinking.

Yea, to the lowest pits of hell!

  18. Glenn E. says:

A few more might be form #1313, and #999. Are those recipients going to go postal too? And will the person with #777, then go and hit the slots at Vegas?

If they can omit an entire floor number from Hotels (#13). And not issue Vanity license plates that spell vulgar words. Then why not just omit printing forms with three sixes in them, and the rest only zeros. Add a “one” in the mix, just to screw with it. How many form omissions could that possible make, that couldn’t be tolerated?

  19. Benjamin says:

The mark of the beast and the number 666 have no significance before the tribulation. Christians will be rapture out before that happens. The guy should just do his job and not make a big deal about an employee number.
