I hope there is not too much confusion with the photos, to make a long story short: I fell in love with an amazing woman in the fall of 2011.

That next Valentines day I gave her two brass keys that I design and machined in a custom box. I made the keys in anticipation of one day proposing. I didnt know if or when that would happen yet..

As time went on I began to realize how much I wanted to be with this woman. I began designing a jewelry box. The idea was to incorporate the keys I had originally given her as well as an engagement ring. A small ring box was to be “hidden” in a compartment inside the large jewelry box that was to be opened by the “twin keys”. A little confusing, but i think you will understand when you see the pictures.

I have been told I put to much effort in but I think she deserved every hour, every dollar. I couldnt give her anything that was less than my very best.

A cnc machinist with a soul mate and lots of time. Very nice work.

  2. noname says:

Bravo, creative, thoughtful and impressive way to begin and it looks like she adores it!

More importantly, will the marriage continue to be creative, thoughtful many decades out?

    I wish the best!

On animal planet, you’ll see impressive nests and rock gardens made by the male bird specie.

That’s certainly better than what I’m sure some of the other posters here did – assuming (insert name here) was ever lucky enough to be in a position where someone else would even have him/her.

It’s definitely more creative than waiting for the test strip to turn blue before cracking open another box of Cracker Jacks.

    …Or going to Vegas!

  5. Chris says:

My only question is “Who will get the box/keys in the divorce?”

Man, we just jumped ‘da broom and it was okay anyway. 😉

    Show off.

  8. Uncle Patso says:

Reminds me of the story of the man who paid 30 cows for his wife, when the going rate was about 12 cows.

My guess is it tends to make for a harmonious marriage.

    “Happy wife, happy life.”

    Her unspoken thoughts:

I wish he spent less money on the box and more on the diamond.

    • What? The moth is always drawn to the flame? says:

Exactly. He made the box for himself, not for her.

If he wasn’t such a narcissist, he would have figured out what she wanted.

I want one of those MultiCams in my garage. And the CAD/CAM software that guy appears to have mastered? CorelDraw is one thing but SolidWorks is industry standard. They don’t list the price on the SolidWorks website. It’s one of those “get a quote” things.
My tools suddenly don’t look so shiny.

  11. Trex says:

WTH Uncle Dave, is this a slow news day? Didn’t anyone see the news about the FBI conspiring WITH the Wall Street Banksters to violently suppress the Ocuppy Wall Street protests? Yes, that’s right, the FBI considers protest and free speech a terrorist act now. Even Universities were giving up lists of names of students and professors associated with OWS. Orwell has to be laughing in his grave and whispering “I told you so.”

Exactly. We’re getting f*cked from behind while we’re forced to smile from the front.

    • stormtrooper 651 says:

Sort of, OWS was faux protest group mainly consisting of guilty rich white liberals dems, and while the Party was aware a few were inadvertently straying near the perimeter of the reservation, there was no real concern that they would ever leave.
Among other things the group was used as a stalking horse for class/race division projects.

Yes, the world is full of news out there but revolutions can start with one crushed heart. Ha, ha.

About evenly split here to the positive/negative response. That fits the divorce rate too. What a happy statistic?……. to be accurate.

  13. Angel H. Wong says:

That feeling when she tells that guy she only wants to be friends with him.

  14. Kevin Roa says:

    @Chris Amen brother!

  15. A Simple Man says:

Sure beats the hell out of a box of Russell Stover’s or a Whitman’s Sampler!

  16. ivan says:

    It’s “Dick in a Box”.
