Looking for that deeper weekend-warrior role-playing with a totally immersive and more rewarding game experience ?
Requirements:
No combat experience required.
Must be an avid video game player.
Must regularly fantasize of being a combat warrior.
Must be able to play at max Difficulty Setting.
Must be able to ignored real-world reality to deliver fawning performance.
Most of all must win the Win Electoral College count over your nearest competitor.
If so you too can be the best Chicken Hawk POTUS ever!
So, um, you wouldn’t fire the occasional missile into the Pakistan Taliban?
If you care, define occasional and define acceptable collateral damage?
Also, again only if you care, is this a legal use of force in a state we are not at war with?
Would you be upset with China, if the Dalai Lama was to visit the US for extended time, and he communicated with his supporters in China; could China then justifiably decide to launch a stealth drone into our borders to take him out?
Since most guns in Mexico originate in US, can Mexico legally invade the US as a pre-emptive measure to protect themselves?
Maybe you only believe that might makes right?
Are we setting our self up for future success or failure?
PUHLEEZ! Logic has no place in this discussion.
Troublemaker.
The difference you ignore in ALL your scenarios is ACTION! Criminal action is one thing. But when a sanctioned government like the U.S. or even some non-consequential nation like South Africa declares WAR, it’s a whole different ball game.
The Taliban and Al Qaeda have actively committed many acts of WAR on the U.S. and it’s allies. Mexico hasn’t done that nor has America needed to declare war (again) on Mexico. Sure, America continues to send weapons to Mexico and Mexico continues to send drugs to America. Those are very bad things. But it’s just not an act of WAR because NEITHER government “officially” ENDORSES it.
The same can be said of China and the Dali Lama too.
But if Mexico WERE at war with say, Cuba and the Cuban leader were to take refuge in America then YES! Mexico would have a good case and a RIGHT after trying to negotiate, to then take him out. It’s even more convincing if you consider the fact that America either ignorantly or covertly kept refusing to even admit that Cuba’s leader were even in America and relaxing at some Montana dude ranch next to a military base (HELLO!). Of course, America might be angered once Mexico DID blow the Cuban leader’s ass up but America really wouldn’t have much of an argument for playing favorites like that either.
It’s like two mad dogs who you know hate each other and where one of those dogs tries to hide in your back yard. You know they will BOTH fight if they see each other and have even said so (by barking). Yet, you allow one dog to take refuge every time he comes by. So can you really say you were all that surprised when the other dog sees his enemy in YOUR yard? Can you even be angry if the other dog actually asks you to help drag his nemesis out of your yard, or if they both tear up your grass a little when you refuse? COME ON!
I agree with Captain Bee Fart, not much sensible logic here!
Last summer it appears the Iranians took out a dissident in, I think, Texas by having someone ride up beside her car on a motorcycle and shot her dead.
I found one article mentioning the killing and that was it. Apparently that’s okay.
That incident happened in Iran.
Having lived in Texas I can understand the confusion, they do tend to look alike, with similar cultures.
There is no collateral damage with these drone strikes. Obama personally approves every target while reading Just War theory of Thomas Aquinas and others. This was all revealed in the newspapers of record.
In addition, anyone who is near a drone target is automatically defined as an enemy combatant, thus civilian casualties are a virtual impossiblity. Or perhaps you think those ‘civilians’ just happened to be walking by as the target was planning jihad?
In addition to the abilities mentioned above, the drones are capable of delivering strikes of surgical precision where only the groom of the wedding party is vaporised. This qualifies you for the habeas corpus bonus round where you can pick off an American citizen.
We sure love us some war mongering prezdents! Thanks President O’Bush!
I don’t like war either. But consider the alternatives!
Peace? The horror….
Yah want piece? All yah got to do is make the US an Islamic state and impose Sharia law. Of course then you’d need to take Uncle Dave and the rest of the Atheists out and kill them.
Yah sure yah want to go there?
We would have unity if everyone agreed to blow up Israel.
And if we would round up our Jews for shipment to Muslim countries. We already locked up a filmmaker per their request.
It helps not to draw attention to oneself when you’re a parole violating felon with a variety of aliases.
Okay, what president hasn’t been involved in war?
As much as I loathe Shrub (and I only loathe Bo[eh]ner more than him,) I don’t stick its really fair to stick him with this one.
Looks like a great candidate for No Agenda album art…
Setting the New Norm for the Nobel Peace Price since 2012!
You do realize the Nobel Peace Prize was named after Alfred Bernhard Nobel, the inventor of DYNAMITE, don’t you?
Calling it a “Nobel Peace Prize” is a bit like inventing the “Hitler Humanitarian Award.” IT’S TOTAL CRAP!
Let’s also not forget that in 2007 Al Gore got one too!
Other notables where the prize for peace is concerned include: PLO chairman Yasser Arrafat (1994), Vietnamese war criminal Le Duc Tho (1973), and was even denied to Mahatma Gandhi five times!
So the fact that Barack Obama got one in 2009 really doesn’t matter that much. Now, does it?
One other bit of info I found particularly interesting I’ll cut and paste here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobel_Prize_controversies):
The 1945 prize was awarded to Cordell Hull as “Former Secretary of State; Prominent participant in the originating of the UN”. Hull was Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Secretary of State during the SS St. Louis Crisis. The St. Louis sailed from Hamburg in the summer of 1939 carrying over 950 Jewish refugees, seeking asylum from Nazi persecution. Initially, US President Franklin D. Roosevelt showed some willingness to take in some of those on board, but Hull and Southern Democrats voiced vehement opposition, and some of them threatened to withhold their support of Roosevelt in the 1940 election. On 4 June 1939 Roosevelt denied entry to the ship, which was waiting in the Florida strait between Florida and Cuba. The passengers began negotiations with the Cuban government, but those broke down. Forced to return to Europe, over a quarter of its passengers subsequently died in the Holocaust.
Sort of makes you stop and wonder just who these “Dem-O’s” are! Doesn’t it?
I’ve always said the Democratic Party is the party of death and misery.
Abortion. 54 MILLION and counting. All about “choice” (spell that convenience). Murder is murder, no matter how it’s justified.
“They weren’t really people!” Isn’t that the same justification used in every Genocide?
Kinda puts the Holocaust in perspective.
The Rwandan Genocide, allowed under Bill Clinton. 800,000 dead. Just a bunch of dark people, not our problem.
Most people don’t know the KKK and the Jim Crow laws were all from Democrats.
Johnson’s Great Society. Not so great, is it? Now that half the population is dependent on the other half. Slavery by any other name. Democrats “big tent” just allows more people to become dependent, not just people of color.
Democrats are all about “For the better good” and the will of the many. Isn’t that the same justification of every totalitarian regime?
Just got the box set of season 1 Game of Thrones.
It is really good! I was impressed with the quality of writing and the sets are truly grand. $34 bucks on Blu-Ray most places.
Don’t read about it….too many spoilers.
Northwestern Mutual Life’s latest ad is a shameless knock off of the opening sequence.

If you care, define occasional and define acceptable collateral damage? // Almost unlimited. Innocents being killed is the very definition of war. Thats why we don’t call it “a police action against terrorism.”
Also, again only if you care, is this a legal use of force in a state we are not at war with? /// We are not at war with Pakistan but rather with terrorist groups within Pakistan that Pakistan its self is at war with. I know–so many of the same words are used resulting nonetheless in completely different ideas.
Would you be upset with China, if the Dalai Lama was to visit the US for extended time, and he communicated with his supporters in China; could China then justifiably decide to launch a stealth drone into our borders to take him out? /// Upset? Sure. China is not giving us aid and information to help us Kill the Dalai Lama and we don’t have the Dalai Lama on our own kill list. How do you think this hypothetical is even on the way to the ballpark to be relevant?
Since most guns in Mexico originate in US, can Mexico legally invade the US as a pre-emptive measure to protect themselves? // Same as with China. USA and Pakistan have several mutual aid and support programs not at all similar to what USA has (doesn’t have) with China and Mexico or Canada for that matter.
Maybe you only believe that might makes right? /// Might has nothing to do with right or wrong—its just what happens as the result of perceived interests and ability. More malfeasance on your part in even minimal comprehension about international relations.
Are we setting our self up for future success or failure? /// We have already failed. Its idiot politicians and corporate military industrial complex thinking and acting as deep and as validly as yourself that is keeping the war going.
I say pull out NOW!!!!! War is a last resort, not hear the first as we have used it for 30 years now. I don’t care about right or wrong, just what is in the USA’s long and even short term interest. We should wage ECONOMIC warefare like China does.
Silly not to simply apply the lessons of History.
USA = Giant Fail.
We are waging economic warfare against Iran but for whatever reason the President really doesn’t like to do that.
A side note is that if we were to wage economic warfare on some nations they could most likely cause the collapse of the dollar in less than 24 hours after which things would get pretty bleeping grim around here.
Debtor nations with huge debts have problems like that.
True, but like with collateral damage, you make war (kinetic or economic) as appropriate to the challenge.
I thought Obama WAS upping the sanctions against Iran…. what do you know justifies calling him a slacker? Most “inaction” comes from vetoes by Russia and/or China at the Security Counsel of the UN.
Anyhoo—to correct an unstated assumption of yours==USA is at (economic WAR) with every other country/international Corp there is. USA simply doesn’t recognize it which is why we are losing. That, and too many power players benefit from that evisceration.
Its just reality…….
Unlike Bush, Pres Obama has kept the homeland safe from trrrists. We should all be thankful and praise the Lord.
Obama also prevented a 2012 mass extinction-level asteroid from striking Earth the other day.
He stopped the potential apocalyptic event with a NASA launched drone. Obama remotely piloted the small automated robotic spacecraft from the White House basement, to safely push and deflect the asteroid from the earth’s path.
How cool is that! I got to watch it happen!
Of course for security purposes, the government has to deny this ever happened!
Good point. I agree
