Mitt Romney doubled down on his suggestion that uninsured Americans can find the care they need in emergency rooms, telling The Dispatch that people will always receive the treatment they need, and do not die or suffer because they can not pay for care. He pointed to federal law that requires hospitals to admit emergency patients, repeating his advice that patients rely on the most expensive form of care reserved strictly for emergencies.

A little anecdote: A friend of mine is on total disability from an injury some years ago. Getting on Medicare was a nightmare (that’s a long, bizarre story of its own). She developed a problem with her throat. As it got worse over the years, she eventually tried to go the emergency room to get help, but was turned away because (this is key!) it wasn’t bad for her to get treatment enough even though she was having trouble swallowing. Finally, unable to swallow at all, she was given an operation that cost many thousands, paid for by public funds. The doctor told her if she had been able to be treated early on it would have been a simple, cheap, in the doctor’s office procedure.

I guess Romney is right, sort of, but the costs are higher his way. If you don’t die first.

Kudlow just reported a story that about Bill Clinton putting together a legal team to advise H. Clinton because he thinks the WH is going to throw H. Clinton under the bus relating to the Ambassador’s murder.

Since the State department says they had requests for better security and they watched the attack on live video they can’t deny knowing what happened.

Biden and the WH spokesman are claiming the WH knew nothing. Something their opponents have been accusing them of for years so maybe that is credible.

Romney is in fact quite the moderate (closet liberal — in the classic sense of the word, not the fluffy pillow speech Obama way) and a smart one because he’s walked carefully through the Republican minefield.

His roots are the same as his civil-rights minded father.

Too many cookie-cutter liberals have been sold on recent perversions of what it means to be a true compassionate liberal.

Rather than write a book, I’ll leave it at that for now.

Romney is in fact quite the moderate (closet liberal — in the classic sense of the word, not the fluffy pillow speech Obama way) and a smart one because he’s walked carefully through the Republican minefield. /// Huh? What indicates he is a liberal rather than he simply has sold out and gone full whacko right wing nut? It makes much more sense that a filthy rich .01%’er would be in the Party Formerly Known as Republican than in any other.

His roots are the same as his civil-rights minded father. /// Yes, who produced 12 years of tax returns to show he wasn’t being dishonest. The old man most likely is rolling in his grave: ashamed.

Too many cookie-cutter liberals have been sold on recent perversions of what it means to be a true compassionate liberal. /// Like what==or like Rmoney are you just going to make claims and provide no details at all. Hint: I don’t trust either one of you nor any Puke Voter.

Rather than write a book, I’ll leave it at that for now. /// A book with no footnotes and no details? I doubt you are capable of more than a list of conclusionary talking points of interest to no one but Alfie.

No. Its “Eye Of The Sparrow” — A Bad Lip Reading of the First 2012

This is an excellent “concept” but poorly executed a the spoofed language has nothing to say. Matching the mouth movements as perfectly possible to nonsense words is not as good/funny/enjoyable as having the lips slightly out of synch but saying something insightful.

I haven’t seen a good bad lip reading yet.

  6. MikeN says:

Coverage of preventive care costs more. For every example of expensive surgery saved you have many examples of service not needed. During pregnancy there are many tests costing thousands of dollars that might spot a condition in 1%.

Good argument in favor of Death Panels.

A “Republican” argument for universal health care:

This country needs Single Payer Universal Coverage so that our corporations can compete with the overseas corporations that don’t have to pay such huge medical/insurance costs of their workers.

    • bobbo, we think with words, and flower with ideas says:

I’ve been posting that for years now. Its also cheaper overall and per person–something the LIEberTARDs haven’t figured out yet.

It doesn’t get said often enough: Obama care LOWERS THE COST OF HEALTHCARE to our economy and does more as it continues.

If we could get rid of the anti-Obama KNEEJERK opposition of the Pukes, Death Panels could even save a whole bunch more.

Government and Society really can work. You just have to ignore/isolate/ridicule the anti-science, low information, dumb as shit, right wing religious base of the Puke Party.

      Heh, heh!

    • MikeN says:

Illogical to the extreme. They don’t have to provide health care to their workers. They do so because of quirks in the tax code that makes it a benefit to them. Health care provided by the government is not free, and is likely to be more expensive. So we have to then charge higher taxes to pay for it.

      • bobbo, we think with words, and flower with ideas says:

Its likely to be more expensive because every government on earth that provides it does so at a cheaper cost.

Republican Math? ……. or just the ravings of a lunatic LIEberTARD?

        Fair and Balanced: you decide.

      • Rick says:

Government insurance is never more expensive because there’s no profit motive and it mandates streamlined billing practices through its in-house form and payment systems which providers MUST adhere to.

This is why private insurance has worked very hard to keep a public option away from the people because they know it will always be more inexpensive for the same coverage.

  8. deowll says:

Oh yeah while the Bush wars have cost plenty the Libya thing hasn’t been real cheap either. We are still in Afghanistan. Come to that we have a fabulously expensive embassy in Iraq with, I’ve read, something like 8,000 people working out of it.

  10. Rick says:

Obama did us a disservice by pushing the mandatory insurance, when he should have steamrolled the public option.

I would have signed up in a flash the moment it was available. The last thing I want to do is send my monthly payment to a for-profit industry thats committed to making sure they deny my claims.
