Providing birth control to women at no cost substantially reduced unplanned pregnancies and cut abortion rates by 62 percent to 78 percent over the national rate, a new study shows. The research, by investigators at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, appears online Oct. 4 in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

duh
or people could stop having sex when they don’t want to have a child, just saying.
people could stop having sex
Not going to happen…
Its too long between the act and the consequence.
Obviously I could show you 7 billion reasons why that’s wrong. However, you can take matters into your own hands.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Hmmm… I’m thinking that there might be something about sex that temporarily diminishes the influence of logic and reason. This is truly a groundbreaking discovery if this connection is ever proven.
Tea Party response “Correlation does not imply causation”
This the tea party we’re talking about here… There more like “Causation does not imply correlation.” (They can do the same thing time over and over and expect a different outcome at some point, like getting slapped in the face will suddenly stop hurting.)
Free birth control?! I wish tetanus shots were free too. So I could make love to rusting iron and steel, without fearing the infectious consequences. But I guess the medical industry believes that a free Tetanus vaccine would only encourage me to have multiple rusty metal interactions (robotic love?). And by making it a significant hurdle, to get the vaccine (like combining it with something else I don’t want!). I’ll be more careful about what kinds and conditions of metal, I have my way with.
Is my sarcasm too subtle or obscure?
Yep, and Happy Hour does just the opposite. Just saying.
No
Shit
Sherlock
In other news: seatbelts reduce the incidence of going through a windscreen and lifevests stop drowning
Except that, the people who are against abortion are also against birth control.
And for the same reason. Big Daddy in the Sky said so.
Why must it be FREE?
Excellent question. It turns out that some people will only practice personal responsibility when it is the tiniest possible inconvenience and comes at little or no expense to them. Unfortunately, people like this have been issued sex organs just like everyone else.
It doesn’t have to be.
Hammerhead? Ha, ha. Might we all be nails?
but taking you at face value==why not free?
What “if” free birth control results in less abortions than having the pills available through the free market AND what if the cost of unwanted kiddies cost the taxpayers much more for support than would free pills. What if its real close?
Silly Pukes. Like to think they are fiscally responsible but they are only dollar wise and pound foolish at the very best.
What should you get for free?
The deluxe ribbed condom and easy-off oven cleaner kit for $19.95 a pop, or a piece of saran wrap and a rubber band?
Try not to pound foolishly and think of the national debt.
How much does a condom really cost?
How much does having an abortion really really cost?
How much does having a kid really cost?
How much does taking care of some li’l unwanted cunt dropping really cost in insurance, policing and detention services? (Economist Steven Dubner observed that the drop in crime in the United States began seventeen years after the introduction of “The Pill,” and has been sliding down for years.)
Give the birth control away.
Whodathunkit ? Wow.
Nope, the best solution is demand that teenagers not have sex. Let it me said, let it be done.
Do what muslims do a 100% segregated society. Lots of fun at weddings when all the men are dancing together holding hands.
No wonder homosexuality is secretly rampant in islamic societies.
It reduces abortions? Hell, I’m surprised the liberals don’t want to FORCE everyone to use birth control, too. That’s the next step.
Since we’re talking about great ideas that miss the point, I have a plan for the murder rate in Detroit – nuke the city. That’ll solve that.
Thats actually a good idea. Put it in the water along with fluoride and you have to take a pill if you want to get pregnant.
Ahhhh…… the future is so bright, no more condoms in my wallet.
This study doesn’t reveal the number of abortions for the people who were studied. BS detector would have been a better picture.
There is no control group.
They used IUDs.
They used the results for the whole county to show a drop in abortion use, when they did not test on the whole county or even a significant portion. So the abortion drop was county wide and had nothing to do with their study.
== extortion by the liberal masses who want tax payers to subsidize their lifestyle in the bedroom.
Strange how liberals want government out of their personal lives, but they want government in the bedroom.
The GOP is against masturbation, birth control, family planning, sex education.
So basically they want you to have cold showers every day, wear a cage around your penis, and eventually go insane and grab a rifle and shoot at people from a roof out of sexual frustration.
