Its not that rare in Asia. (My mother took just such a picture, [way, way back when China had just opened up to the west, right after Nixon* went there,] of a family in Rural China that was nothing but women, [all of the men having died during Mao’s cultural revolution.])
Either my sister or my self have that picture (she got the carousels of slides when my mother died.)
Amongst other things, I have a print (a CibaChrome) of a communal kitchen that looks like it was well and properly used and many delicious meals were lovingly prepared there.
Its got a dirt floor, its got a daubed white stone hearth with lots of smoke and fire damage and the cooking implements look primitive, but it still manages to look inviting as Hell.

Those poor people look terrified. When the child to the right of Un gets older will he exact revenge for the pain in the eyes of his family, or will he/she just go with the flow.

North Korean Mormons are progressive: they allow for both multiple wives and multiple husbands in the same family.
But like Mormons everywhere, they don’t like paparazzi on their lawn taking pictures and asking who’s the favorite wife or husband.
