A Republican Senate hopeful sparked outrage on Sunday by suggesting that “legitimate rape” rarely results in pregnancy due to a woman’s biological defences. Todd Akin, a member of the House of Representatives and recently appointed Senate nominee for Missouri, made the claim during an interview in which he attempted to explain his no-exceptions policy in regards to abortion.

In reference to pregnancy resulting from rape, Akin told KTVI-TV: “First of all, from what I understand from doctors, that is really rare.

“If it is a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try and shut that whole thing down.”

  1. NewformatSux says:

The Democrats spent money promoting Akin’s candidacy before the primary. Even now McCaskill thinks Akin should not drop out.

There are obviously not many women in this site’s audience.

It could be worse… people could get worked up over something that a legislator has no power of changing even if he or she wanted.

We currently live in a country where it’s easier to get an abortion than it is to get a job.

This is much ado about nothing. But it doesn’t stop the liberal-minded from trying to get the sheeple off track from the more important economic matters.

In general, since I believe in the uplifting of humanity, I find it immoral and unethical to vote for a Democrat. That being said, sometime Republicans are their own worst enemies…

Unfortunately, the vote is based on priorities. Until every American is living in a large house and driving a 4×4 at least 20K miles a year due to their commute and leisure travel, no social issue should even be mentioned. They’re irrelevant and trivial. Basic minimum acceptable standard of living comes into play.

You can NOT have a good life living in a city and using mass transit or a stupid car. Urban sprawl or better to turn the planet into another asteroid belt.

In a perfect world, every American would have at least a 2500 sq. ft. home on a 1 acre fenced in lot and live 30 mi. from their workplace. They would also have sex with at least two different partners every day, drink daily and eat a lot of meat. Porn would be part of basic broadcast television. (I mean real porn, not simple nudity – for you religious retards – Playboy is NOT porn.)

Int he meantime, the lesser of two evils is to vote against Democrats – always.

Bill Clinton after raping Juanita Broaddrick,
“Don’t worry you can’t get pregnant.”
“Better put some ice on that.”

  7. Rob Leather says:

I’m at a loss to try and figure out what he meant by “legitimate” rape, or whether he really intended to say it, i.e. it was a mental fluff.

But regardless, his concept of conception is extraordinarily juvenile and sparks of poor education. So I assume he’s therefore religious and doesn’t know any better.

My REAL concern is the “numerous Doctors” who’ve told him this bizarre concept. Is this how the US is so low on the quality of it’s health care?

    • NewformatSux says:

What he means by legitimate rape is I think an attempt to separate from date rape, or that a number of rapes are not really rapes, they merely meet a standard produced by feminists. For example, woman feels guilty after the fact. Perhaps both were drunk.

Note that after Bill Clinton raped Juannita Broaddrick, he told her she couldn’t get pregnant. Then ‘better put some ice on that’.
