Congressional Gold Medal of Honor ≠ Congressional Medal of Honor
It sounds like Santorum spun the Dutch medical bracelet situation. If I have it right there really are two types of bracelets in the Dutch system: the regular one that communicates “help me if I’m in medical need” (i.e., the Santorum spun “Do not euthanize”) and “Do Not Resuscitate” (or “euthanize”). So from a very twisted and political point of view, he’s right. Another damned opportunist…
Words matter as always but I always saw a distinction between DNR and euthanize…
Doesn’t sound much different than a living will.
Which brings up an interesting trend; most doctors tend to go with DNR as they realize how crappy life is when it’s only being supported by machines.
