Social conservatives: don’t want government interference with their guns and money, but all for government interference in your private life.

The Virginia Senate, for years a firewall against efforts to restrict abortion, today is poised to pass a bill to require that pregnant women undergo an ultrasound and get a chance to see the image before having an abortion. It’s one of several anti-abortion bills now moving through the General Assembly. Others would give legal rights to unborn children, prohibit abortions after 20 weeks unless a woman’s life or physical well-being is at risk, and further limit public funding for some abortions.

Unlike past sessions when some of those measures failed in the Senate, social conservatives now sense a chance for long-desired gains.

The bill would force low-income women to choose between carrying a doomed pregnancy “or pay out of pocket for abortion care she and her doctor may determine she needs at a difficult time,” argued Jessica Honke, a lobbyist for Planned Parenthood.

Sen. Janet Howell, D-Fairfax County, was dismayed enough by the bill’s progress that she tried to amend it so men seeking prescriptions for erectile dysfunction medication such as Viagra would be required to undergo a rectal exam and cardiac stress test. She said that’s “only fair, that if we’re going to subject women to unnecessary procedures, and we’re going to subject doctors to having to do things that they don’t think is medically advisory.”

I love the sheer hypocrisy inherent in all these bills.

It’s a form of abuse to even consider the topic as fit for debate.

What a woman does when she’s simply incapable of raising a child because she’s too emotionally immature is get an abortion. (I have personally known some women who were grand-mothers by the time they were 30. [They were stupid sluts and their daughters were stupid sluts too. {And we were all paying for their lack of birth control compounded by the lack of any self-control.}])

What a woman does in tough economic times is get an abortion. (Sorry but that works for all creatures. You can always have another child, if you”re still alive. The problem goes away if you’re dead, except that the you may have responsibilities beyond yourself.)

What a woman does when she realizes she’s not good mother material is get an abortion. (A lot of problems in this world went away when abortion was legalized… or did they? [People change, people lie, and the mendacity of statistics has been a subject for the bards for centuries.])

Lets be honest here, the best argument for birth control is you

How much better would the world be if you had never been born.

No population explosion, no starving babies in <name of country>, no over crowding, no run-away resource depletion…

But in religion we have the perfect, and perfectly idiotic, storm of male dominance and prevention of birth control.

Contrary to popular Christian beliefs, God is the originator of abortion, murder, and rape:

If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.
      Deuteronomy 21:18-21 (NIV)

Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.
      1 Samuel 15:3 (NIV)

Whoever is captured will be thrust through; all who are caught will fall by the sword. Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives violated. See, I will stir up against them the Medes, who do not care for silver and have no delight in gold. Their bows will strike down the young men; they will have no mercy on infants, nor will they look with compassion on children.
      Isaiah 13:15-18 (NIV)

Clearly, God is totally in favor of population control.

Remember John Cameron Swayze‘s gay sex ad?

There he was on The Bowery in New York City, one arm raised up over the bare and bloody ass of some half-naked drunken hobo, covered in bloody feces, grinning maniacally at the camera and saying:

Tumex. It takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin’

Hilarious objections coming from people that are eager for labels on restaurant menus with calorie counts, all in the name of informing the customer.

  4. Benjamin says:

This is stupid. Any woman should be able to get an abortion just as long as she pre-pays the social security liabilities the baby would have if it grew to the age of 65.

  5. NewFormatSux says:

Planned Parenthood only objects to abortion regulations that restrict their procedures. Limitations on RU486 they got their owned HHS Secretary Sebelius to put in place.

This is just one more example of lawyers trying to be doctors…

After all, lawyers aren’t much good for anything anyway — except maybe getting you out of jail (which you probably wouldn’t be in if it weren’t for them to begin with).

Why do the people in power have to be so self righteous, the modern world agghhh
