Vice’s man in Libya noticed that a flag flying above the courthouse in Bengahzi, the cradle of the now victorious Libyan revolution, belongs to Al Qaida.
That doesn’t mean the Islamists have won or anything—Al Qaida flags actually pop up a lot in that part of the world. But it’s not encouraging! When reporter Sherif Elhelwa started taking photographs, a courthouse guard approached him and said, “Whomever speaks ill of this flag, we will cut off his tongue. I recommend that you don’t publish these. You will bring trouble to yourself.”
Later, though, the same guard tried to argue that it wasn’t the Al Qaida flag, which features “There is no God but Allah” in Arabic and a full yellow moon:The guard claimed repeatedly that there is no al Qaeda in Libya, and that the flag flying atop the courthouse is “dark black,” while the al Qaeda flag is charcoal black.

Good move, Obama and NATO! You’ve toppled a godless dictator who only disliked the West with a Sharia Law islamic theocracy (maybe with some minor democratic trappings like in Iran) who fucking HATE the West for not being muslims like them.
There is no denying Gaddafi was a nut job but Libya allowed women to vote, drive cars, attend schools, etc. and the national literacy rate is higher than India, Saudi Arabia, or Egypt to name a few.

It’s quaint how Americans were so comfortable with Gadaffi’s support of terrorism.
Whats the point here? Libya is a Muslim country wanting sharia law imposed on all within its territory just as in any Muslim country where they are a majority. Kaydaffy was disposed because he wasn’t a good Muslim. Totally consistent.
All countries/people act in their own interests and their own interests alone. The only thing “exceptional” about America is our willingness to believe our own propaganda. On balance, I think its true that we aren’t as bad as most other societies, but why do we support one revolution and not another besides our own perceived self interests?

The only flaw in the plan was that too soon too many “other” people with opposing religions showed up. Then, in 2012, we all became Mormons and the problems were solved. Multiple wives allowed as long as they are all sisters.

Lose-lose situation in any muslim nation. We should leave them all alone and let them go to war with each other, its natural for muslims to fight over trivial differences in their religion (there are 21 different kinds of islam).
Keep muslims out of the west and we will be fine.

It’s all about oil.
Its all about money and control.
Another shining example of America’s brilliant policies, remove a dictator only to end-up with another who worse than the last. Batista-Castro, Qaddafi – Al Qaida, Bush-Obama…
This is, by the way, a well run operation overall. With the rest of the country regressing back to feudalism, the west will put a Praetorian Guard around the oil and oil facilities and suck the last of it out, and leave when it’s uneconomical. That’s how you run a colonial empire!
