Several police officers in northern Mexico allowed a violent drug gang to hold kidnap victims in the local jail while ransom payments were being negotiated…

Four police officers from Juárez, a suburb of the city of Monterrey, are being held pending further investigation, said Jorge Domene, the security spokesman for Nuevo León state.

The scandal came to light this week when state and federal police freed two kidnapping victims from jail cells in Juárez. Investigators believe that the victims were abducted by the extremely violent Zetas cartel and that the officers were working for the Zetas, Domene said…

Domene noted that last weekend, the Nuevo León attorney general’s office detained 73 local policemen from a half dozen communities in the state who confessed to having performed various services for gangs, including spying, acting as lookouts, and carrying out killings and kidnappings…

Hey, at least they didn’t have to put up with this horrible website layout!

  2. Drive By Poster says:

For several years now, I’ve thought we should nuke the entire length of the US-mexico border with “dirty” nukes to both discourage the flow of unwanted illegals, drugs, and violence, as well as make it easier to detect and track via Geiger counter those who do cross the border.

I recently read that there were some 18,000 people in Texas alone working for the mexican drug cartels.

    • Buzz Mega says:

And those people are included in Perry’s “lookit all the jobs I created” bragging.

      • Drive By Poster says:

I couldn’t care less about Perry nor Romney. Both are big ‘L’ Liberals pretending to be conservatives. They may be Religious, but that doesn’t make them Conservative in any meaningful way. There are a lot of now rather old Religious FDR Democrats still around who will vote the Democrat party line until they’re dead (death is not a voting obstacle in Chicago).

        • GregAllen says:

          Drive by,

If you think Perry is a liberal, you must be to the right of Genghis Khan.

          • Drive By Poster says:

If Perry was as conservative as you just implied, he’d be the darling of the Tea Party.

Perry can’t be THAT Conservative. He started out as a Democrat. He supported Al “Slum Lord” Gore as his campaign chair for the state of Texas in 1988. The Democrat’s anti-Republican verbiage is still alive in Perry’s heart, as shown when he called Republicans “heartless”.

      Wow, great idea Drive By!

I can’t think of a single unforeseen consequence of your solution.

    Just say NO to Mexico..

  4. Amnesty for cartels says:

Mexico, the gift that keeps on giving.

  5. Skeptic says:

I would never go to Mexico… even if the resorts were giving it away free.

    Suggestion for the site layout…
The blue background is too weak… washed out. Everything has become bla. replace it with a dark colour to bring back contrast. It all looks very feminine, and it seems to me that most posters here are male.. probably most readers as well given the usual content.

  6. NewFormatSux says:

The entire state is a jail, but the prison guards aren’t very effective in kee[ing you from escaping, unless it is the ones on the south wall.

Not as bad as the jails that are Cuba and North Korea.

  7. sargasso_c says:

On topic. Their police should be commended for their proactive relationship building with local business men and government.

  8. cgp says:

Everybody knows the mexican cops are part of the drug cartels. Any copper who disobeys the boss gets it. Mexico is stuffed.

The society collapses as extortion demands of 50 per cent of wages cause segments of society (eg the schools) to cease functioning.

Hmm thats kinda like what the demorats want.

  9. Ah_Yea says:

    Ok, Listen up!

Mexico’ government is fully corrupt and so is ours.

Eric Holder approved and helped finance sending guns to mexico.

He has now been caught lying about it.
    http://foxnews.com/politics/2011/10/09/new-subpoenas-prepared-in-fast-and-furious-probe/

Holder is going to jail for lying during a Congressional Investigation, unless he does a plea deal and turns over who authorized the program.

The only one left is our O’l buddy Barrack.

It was a boneheaded sting operation, not an alliance.

  10. e? says:

Huh. Keeping them nice and safe for when the ransom is paid. How civilized.

  11. scandihoovian says:

The war on drugs has won! Nice work Reagan and beyond, you idiots did a fine job turning cartels into organizations that rival fortune 500 companies.
