A new piece of artwork by Richard Sargent, featuring a huge crowd of robots from movies, television and more. Can you find WALL-E among them?

You might win a signed poster print of Richard’s ‘Where’s WALL-E?’ art! How many characters can you identify? Use the guide picture to name as many as you can. The most correct answers will win a poster. Answers to richard@hopewellstudios.com. Closing date for entries 31st August 2011. Entries will be judged by name and origin of each character; in the event of a tie a winner will be chosen at random.

Thanks, Ursarodinia

  1. Angel H. Wong says:

Good thing I’m a gay nerd ’cause knowing the names of all of those robots would have render me a virgin if I were a straight nerd.

  2. Angel H. Wong says:

Wait, am I the only one who’s annoyed there’s only robots made by white people.

  3. bobbo, legal have a meaning and a context and often ultimately affect actions says:

#31–jpfitz==thank you. Looking more closely now, to the left of Bender is the Queen Borg. She’s heavily plugged-in but certainly not a robot. I think I even stopped watching Star Trek when Picard let a Borg live free rather than destroy that entire culture with an implanted virus.

Definite lack of balance there that even Liberty Lover should reject?

  4. deowll says:

I don’t have a clue who most of these are. I did quickly note that some cyborg are shown. Since a cyborg has a living brain it is not a robot.

  5. Animby - just phoning it in says:

    Is the artist robot-illiterate?

Possibly the best movie robot of all time appears to be missing: Robby from ‘Forbidden Planet’?

Now, can someone help me peel my eyes off the damned poster?

  6. Gildersleeve says:

Robbie the Robot is just right of Andy (of “Quark” fame). Upper middle.

Now, who in the heck would leave out Daneel Olivaw? SHAME.

  7. bobbo, legal have a meaning and a context and often ultimately affect actions says:

animby–that upset me too once I saw who I thought was Robbie was only a nearly=be. Robbie is NNE an inch from dead center. He was a key character in Lost in Space and some other flicks as well but its remarkable how well Forbidden Planet stands up. Its is hokum, but it still stands up, special effects, theme, everything.

I had three more ideas backed up but don’t recall them now–Farrah Faucet’s robot flick was good, anna one, anna two.

  8. Animby - just phoning it in says:

Bobbo & Gildersleeve: Amazing how easy he is to find when it’s pointed out to you. I can only offer the excuse that, while traveling, I am looking at a small screen. Thanks for your help.

Bobbo – Have you heard the bad news? They are planning a remake of Forbidden Planet for release in 2013! Let’s see, how badly did they screw up “The Day The Earth Stood Still”?

  9. Benjamin says:

Bedebedebedebede! Twiggy is there in the front row! So is the other robot from Buck Rogers. I couldn’t find Nomad from Star Trek and where is Cdr Data?

  10. The0ne says:

I don’t see Bender, where is Bender!

  11. jdmurray says:

#42 Bender is putting “the moves” on EVE.

Luv the Dagget form the original Battlestar Galactica, Dot Matrix from Spaceballs, the cop from THX-1138, and the butler bots from Sleeper.

But what other robots are there from Futurama? I only see Bender and Calculon. No Robot Devil or Clamps? And my favorite, Headonismbot?

And I see Atlas from Portal 2, but where is P-Body?

  12. stopher2475 says:

Alas, Bender, IG-88, and 2XL did not make the cut.

  13. jdmurray says:

Why are people not about find Bender? He’s one of the first ones I recognized! Middle-left people!

And a late tip-of-the-hat to the DRD from Farscape, the mechanical owl from Clash of the Titans, and Box from Logan’s Run. What a great pic!

  14. Aude says:

where is crow!? I can see servo.

  15. Anonymous says:

    I found him! #129

About third row-center. Just above and top the left of the “W” in “Where’s…” He’s about 3d row and to the left next to the red “Bad Robot” and the Battle Star Galactica cylon sort of between two Humpt Dumpty looking bots. In fact, Wall-E is not totally visible either. You can only see his “eyes” and top half of his body.

    Where’s my cupie doll?

Want to make this harder? How about Where’s “Twiggy”! I bet most people not familiar with 80’s television don’t even know what/who that is – or the show! (Hint: the show in general was popular in both the 30’s and 50’s too.)
