Anders Behring Breivik is a conservative Christian who enjoys classical music and the video game World of Warcraft.
Breivik has been named by several Norwegian media outlets as the suspected shooter at a youth camp in Oslo, where
1080 people were killed Friday and he may be linked to a bombing near the prime minister’s residence that killed seven others. On his Facebook page, which appears to only have been started July 17, Breivik mostly posted music videos and said his interests include hunting and bodybuilding…
His profile also says he’s a director at a company called Breivik Geofarm.
He lists himself as single and has five profile photos – four of which are headshots…
A Twitter account is also being linked to Breivik, although there is just one tweet on July 17.
“One person with a belief is equal to the force of 100,000 who have only interests,” he wrote.
The television station TV 2 in Norway reported Breivik had right-wing extremist tendancies and had two guns registered under his name.
The headline is from some unnamed official who was asked about “international” terrorism.
Maybe this should be investigated and then conclusions drawn.
Ahhh, conservative Christians, these are the same people against sharia law, right?
Ok, my first knee-jerk reaction: we should not mention that he’s Christian, because, after all, no religious group would ever condone violence of any kind.
But it might be a good idea to start profiling all WoW players.
Also, what exactly are “conservative right-wing extremist tendencies”? Either he’s a conservative, or he’s an extremist? Which is it?
Very sad. Attacking children to make a statement.
Or he’s just a nutter. Another Mass murder with a middle name.
Maybe he was upset about Hess’s grave disappearing. Assuming Anders Behring Breivik is a neo-Nazi.

Conservative Christian is how he describes himself.
I don’t think they have a branch of the Kool Aid Party in Norway.
Sick people did this, that’s all I need to know.
I hope that the people of Norway don’t let fear get the better of them.
Don’t ya love it, the day after Mr. Janet Big Sis Napalowhatever starts a national fear campaign over white, blond hair blue eyed al qaeda, the mythical white al qaeda shows up and it seems ever AQ franchise is trying to claim they did it, while others are saying he was left wing… no right wing political hack.
If this is Oklahoma City, then who is his Terry Nichols? And who are the people this guy met in the Philippines?
The children attacked on the island Utøya are members of the AUF, Workers’ Youth League (Norway). The youngsters are involved in social democracy, “left” leaning ideology.
Makes more sense the killer was a “right” leaning
nut-job. Frighting youngsters away from the AUF organization. Why? Speculation abounds.
#3 “Also, what exactly are “conservative right-wing extremist tendencies”? Either he’s a conservative, or he’s an extremist? Which is it?”
There’s nothing in conservatism that precludes it from turning extremist.
The problem here is probably that “conservatism” has been given a meaning in US politics that isn’t really used in many other areas, and it is not the US sense that is being used here.
foobar, for once, got it exactly right.
Not to mention how fast his facebook and twitter accounts were brought in.
Notice?? Expect the Feds to start profiling your Facebook entries for deviant behavior (if they haven’t already).
My thoughts and wishes are with the victims and investigators of this atrocity. May you find truth and peace.
A tragedy and a nightmare in this country that is not at all used to violence remotely close to this, where weapons practically are banned and murders are a rarity.
This slaughter is nothing but the work of a nut ball psychopath. Reviewing media, this has obviously been planned by the perp for a long time. The guy had even set up an organic farm to be able to get hold fertilizer to make the car bomb. Ammonium-nitrate is not sold freely and only for those with certified needs.
# 3 Conservative right wing in this country mean neo-nazi.
# 9 The more appropriate translation of AUF is the ‘Labour Party Youth Federation’, of the social-democratic Labour Party – the incumbents.
If I were a country, I’d much rather be attacked by outsiders than my own home grown. Until this thread, I had only seen a few video clips on the tv–no audio. So I was kinda thinking this was some group foreign to Norway showing their “global reach.”
Like children killing their parents when its home grown. Probably won’t have the same home grown military training though. Always interesting to see how many contacts with social services these mental cases have.
Home grown nut case. Nothing to learn here other than the frailty of man.
The security system’s nightmare?
Single person with no active network that can leak intentions to authotities.
The country is in shock. In the midst of summe holidays such a horrific event strikes.
So much the worse for it apparently being a person born and raised in this country and culture
he looks a bit like Julian Assange
oh wait i’am about the same size as this guy, part Norwegian, blue eyes, when I had hair it was blond. fear me!
The Friday AM blogs and folks like Laura Ingraham on FOX were abuzz with Muslim Extremist did it rants
you can’t guard against one crazy acting alone and the media personalities should know by now the only sure way to be wrong about this stuff is to guess instead of just reporting
thank god there’s no god
When you see this, I see the same extreme views in the US. We have a Government in gridlock because of extreme views. Its great to have views and to believe in a cause. But to resort to violence against your own people to make a point does nothing to legitimize your viewpoint. One thing I have drawn from the news. Is that many in the World are finding fault with their own Government.
The work of Christians, should have known. These people and their imaginary friends. We should send TSA over there and really fuck them up.
Let the conspiracy idiots begin.

Consider this:
We liberal Muslims and Christians sing Kumbayah with other.
It’s the conservative Muslims and Christians who want to bomb each other to oblivion.
Simple Boolean logic indicates that it is the conservatism, not the religion, that’s at the root of violent extremism.
Greg Allan===kudos. Look how even more certain the equation is if you drop religion out of the operation and recognize it is the “liberal” that drives the equation.
There is truth, and then even a deeper truth.
Aint that a kick?
At this point he’s just a suspect based on a very sparse fishy website posted in English.
This has nothing to do with religion.
Whoever did do this deserves to burn in hell for all eternity. That’s where God disposes of all his freaks of creation.
Let us pray for his soul so that God may forgive him.
There is nothing to forgive. He is mentally challenged.
Those children are in a better place now. This is all part of Gods plan and only He knows why he decided to take them now.
“The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
“Better 10 Guilty Men Go Free than to Convict a Single Innocent Man”
It is better to infringe 10 free men than to kill a single innocent child.
>to resort to violence against your own people to make a point does nothing to legitimize your viewpoint.
Sure it does. Why do you think Comedy Central edited out Mohammed from an episode of South Park? Many newspapers wouldn’t show the Danish cartoons of Mohammed for fear of violence. I’m not even sure if this website posted them.
If this is Norway’s Oklahoma City, then could you point me to the Islamist groups that claimed credit for the Oklahoma City bombings?
Bobbo,
I agree. Liberals are not the drivers of modern terrorism. Religion, in contrast, has feet in both camps.
There are some left-over Maoist and a few other leftist terrorist groups from the 70s.
But if you look at lists of global terrorist groups, they are dominated by the religious right. Mostly, but not exclusively, Muslim.
In India, for instance, the right wing Hindus are very militant. So are right wing Jews in Israel. And, of course, Christians like this guy in Norway.
They all share the same supremacist, eliminationist, paranoid, rigid worldview of conservatives everywhere.
But liberal Christians, Jews, Hindus, and Muslims? Not violent. No danger.

I don’t get your point. This is _NOT_ like 9/11.
Timothy McVeigh was a right wing anti-government extremist.
Anders Breivik is a right wing anti-government extremist.
That’s the parallel. What’s your point?

It certainly might. It depends on his motivation.
#28–Mickey==again? Thats a threefer. I forget if not being able to follow an analogy is the mark of stupidity in a sane man, or psychosis in a smart man.
Kinda a puzzler.
I think he owns debtorsreport.com that is where http://www.breivikgeofarm.com/ goes
