Chris Hansen, known for his “To Catch a Predator” series of reports for “Dateline NBC,” has been caught on hidden camera himself in what is could turn out to be a compromising situation. Hansen, 52 and a married father of two, was secretly videotaped June 24 arriving at the Ritz-Carlton’s Angle restaurant allegedly with Kristyn Caddell, 30, according to the National Enquirer, which has the footage posted on its website. A “romantic dinner” ensued at the Manalapan, Fla., restaurant, according to an Enquirer source.
Cameras filmed them driving back to Caddell’s Palm Beach apartment, where they didn’t emerge until 8 the next morning, the story alleges. Caddell, who works for a local TV news station, then reportedly drove him to the airport, according to the tabloid.
I dunno, seems like interesting irony since Hansen was a huge holier-than-thou defender of the set-up and the hidden camera. Oooops.

Having sex with a 30 something person who is not your spouse. Having sex with a 13 something. I see a bit of a difference there. The hidden camera thing, was he being filmed intentionally or was it a security feed? Security cameras are usually far from hidden.
I’ll chalk it up to Karma too, and he made himself a target for being holier than thou.
Children should be protected, maybe mostly by their parents (parents should should need a licence to breed).

It would have been a better story if she were underage. But the way I see it it’s fair because he exposes others with hidden cameras.

Most police officers posed as jailbait(16-17), not children, to lure in these ‘pedophiles.’ One man killed himself. Most of these alleged pedos would have never even taken it that far if they hadn’t been propositioned. This is entrapment and should not be glorified. I am not supporting child molestation, but you shouldn’t go to jail if you haven’t committed a crime and entrapment to show criminal intent would normally be thrown out of court.

I must be a cynic because I totally read the headline and thought the worst. I totally expected the article was going to about Hansen’s tryst with a 16 year old girl or boy. Since his lover was 30 however, this should not really be news to anyone. Well anyone except for his wife that is. And then only if Hansen and his wife do not have an “open marriage.” In which case he should contact Lary Flynt stat and sell some of his “swinger” videos/stories he probably has lying around.

My mind went there, as well, but it’s not cynicism.
These moral crusaders so often get caught-up in the very sins (or crimes, in this case) they condemn.
It’s happened more times than one can keep track of.
The psychology is fairly simple. People don’t get all lathered up about stuff that doesn’t personally affect them.
The current buzz is about Michele Bachmann’s husband who is into the de-gaying movement. Yet, this guy is setting off gaydars all over the country. Who can’t see this trainwreck coming?

He reads the script for a low budget reality tv show. He is so low key as to almost miss the depravity that is on display right in front of him.
Putting on a crusade would require a bigger budget and/or a presenter who acted like he actually cared.
Which does put me in mind–given the actress is “of age” and all. Next series should be “Sex Predators go All the Way” and have them actually bed the chick after she initially says yes, but then changes her mind.

Second Issue: is it a difference in degree or type that sex predators go to the house of a willing minor, vs Chris Hansen goes to the hotel room of a willing not his spouse? I’m leaning towards a difference of degree only as “what is the law” except someone else’s morality?
