The White House on Wednesday released President Barack Obama’s original “Certificate of Live Birth” from Hawaii amid persistent questions about his citizenship.
The long-form birth certificate, which the White House requested, says Mr. Obama was born at 7:24 p.m. on Aug. 4, 1961, in Honolulu. The White House said Hawaii doesn’t generally release long-form birth certificates but did so at the president’s request.
The administration previously released a less detailed version of Mr. Obama’s birth certificate.
White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said the decision to release the document came because “the president was struck by how this was crowding out the debate” on the budget.” He added that “it became an issue that transcended” the Internet and conspiracy theorists and had moved into the mainstream.
“The president decided to do this…because this was a sideshow that’s distracting from” significant issues, Mr. Pfeiffer said.
The Obamas, and the Baratundes, in this country clearly know more about being an American than a narrow-minded, short-sighted racist like Donald Trump could ever hope to comprehend. He’s doing the only thing the Republican Party seems to value anymore – he’s selling his load of unadulterated crap for everything he can get for it. #128, MikeN, the manipulation of the official PDF was manually done… not by a scanner and not by any software. Don’t take my word for it, open it in Adobe Illustrator and see for yourself. As for the official document being handled by reporters, that is easily done. Commonplace colour printers can make any document seem “real”. I could have easily forged that document so that the “changes” were completely undetectable. Why release something so obvious? Was it sabotaged? Was it on purpose for some strange reason?
I really don’t care one way or another (I’m Canadian), but this truly is astonishing and rather entertaining.

I’m not a birther, and I like Obama. But… I noticed something odd. To the right of Obama’s father’s signature is a date. 8/7/61. An American style date (mm/dd/yy). But his father, being Keyan, probably grew up using the British style of dd/mm/yy.
Perhaps Mr. Obama got the hang of using American style dates while a student in the US.
When I’m overseas, I always use 3 characters for the month just to be sure there is no confusion about what system I am using. For example 27-Apr-2011.
Just seems unnatural for him to sign his name and date it with an American style date.
