And why isn’t our present government doing anything about it? Read an excellent article from Taibbi – “The Real Housewives of Wall Street”

  1. Publius says:

DOJ is too busy protecting citizens from web sites where you can play games.

The owners of those web sites forgot to ante up to the campaign coffers of the politicians, unlike the bricks and mortar casinos whose games are rigged against the citizens.

  2. sargasso_c says:

Get Bernie out of jail and give him a badge and a gun.

  3. What? says:

Did you see the episode of the show where the host sliced open a recent mechanical slot machine, showing the machine was rigged to never stop on 7777?

That feels like today’s stock market.

  4. jescott418 says:

People are dreaming if they don’t accept the fact that Wall Street and big business run the country. Look how quickly Wall Street bounced back? They must be doing something right. Much better then the rest of the country. If our Government could rebound so quickly. Our Politicians know that stepping on Wall Street too hard will just bring growth to a halt.

  5. Jopie says:

A few evil people got filthy rich over the backs of a lot of other people….

    So what’s new?

  6. bobbo, we think with words, and flower with ideas. says:

Whats new? when the evil dudes got caught they were given MORE money, NOT prosecuted, and a party was formed to create more of them.

Wake Up Fools. The Republicans want to Kill America but they can’t do it without your vote.

  7. Somebody says:

#6 bobbo, who uses words without thinking said:

    “”
when the evil dudes got caught they were given MORE money, NOT prosecuted, and a party was formed to create more of them.
    “”

The original Boston Tea Party was not a political party nor is the current TEA party movement.

I’m sure you have some emotional need to associate this sort of thing exclusively with the Republican party, but from where I sit, I can’t see the value of such self-delusion.

  8. bobbo, we think with words, and flower with ideas. says:

    Alfie–stfu.

Mentioned on the tube last night: after the Savings and Loan debacle 1100 people were criminally charged ant about 800 went to jail. also said zero prosecutions so far “but they take time.” seems to me a Country Wide Exec/Pres? went to jail but it might have been on an “unrelated” or already in process issue?

I mention this not to show a DEFICIT in response, but to show that prosecutions didn’t work to keep the Bankster honest. Only strong regulation of the industry will work and people who want to KILL AMERICA like Alfie call such activity “progressive”/liberal/anti business/ class warfare/nanny state/oppressive/anti-freedom/job killer/recovery killer/too large government/too much taxes/”a spending problem” and on and on with the stupidity.

So, everything is in place for an even worse crash 10 years from now.

PS–working on another meme: REPUBLICANS CONSTANTLY LYING THEIR ASSES OFF. You may not like the Dumbo’s political philosophy but often enough they call things what they are: tax and spend. About the worse word play you get is tax and “invest” and I give them a pass on that. Pukes have become uniformly liars though. “Everything” out of their mouths is an out and out lie. Ryans Budget: more tax cuts than spending cuts. Based on no tax increases. Based on achieving 2.7 unemployment which has never happened in history. (confirm) Its all lies. “Premium Support” rather than KILLING the program. Lies.

    Yes, gotta hone it out.

  9. bobbo, we think with words, and flower with ideas. says:

    #9–Somebody== :

The original Boston Tea Party was not a political party nor is the current TEA party movement. /// and neither is the tea party I had last week. Whats your point?

I’m sure you have some emotional need /// actually, its emotional “not to.” No, my response is purely intellectual==you know, the elite kind.

to associate this sort of thing exclusively with the Republican party, /// I agree the short form “implies” exclusivity, but knowing you are a wordsmith, I CONSTANTLY post both party’s are guilty==just not equally guilty hence the focus on PUKES. Just putting the effort where it counts.

but from where I sit, I can’t see the value of such self-delusion. /// Self delusion. Interesting concept.

Post back when you have a thought.

  10. tdkyo says:

To be fair, it requires a lot of more resources for the DOJ to prosecute someone in the financial sector due to the inherent complexity of evidence and the crime (in technical terms) itself.

It’s easier to prosecute the normal, hard-working citizens.

    That’s my take.

  11. Kent says:

Screw jail. Time for some guillotine action!

  12. bobbo, Republicans are constantly LYING on EVERYTHING. says:

#12–tdkyo==its not lack of resources==its lack of will/conflict of interest/failure of incentives. The Pukes are quite right that money does not cure every issue, but it and the desire for it, is at the root cause of most corruption.

Wake Up Fools. The Republicans want to Kill America but they can’t do it without you swallowing their lies and giving them your vote.

((Header still needs some work. Maybe a Haiku?))

  13. Lou says:

They got Barry Bonds and I feel safe to walk the streets now.

  14. ECA says:

ship them to china..they will deal with it QUICKLY

  15. bobbo, Republicans are constantly LYING on EVERYTHING. says:

    Damn Republicans
    Lie to KILL America
    But must have your vote.

  16. Animby says:

Bobbo. You seem intent on becoming the anti-Alfie. You post dogmatically with little thought which, ironically, is what you are usually accusing other of doing. Your posts are becoming tiresome and I may have to start skipping over you like I do Alf. That would make me sad since I know under the Kool-Aid-induced foolishness, lies a brain capable of cogent thought.

Yes, Bobbo. Republicans lie. They lie a LOT. About as much as Democrats.

  17. soundwash says:

    the proper question is:

    “why isn’t congress in jail?”

    -s

  18. bobbo, Republicans are constantly LYING on EVERYTHING. says:

Heh, heh. Animby. What to do with you? Why do you pimp for moral equivalency? Its morally bankrupt===just what my posts are meant to cure.

But comparing me to Alfie won’t do the trick. what is your own ANALYSIS?

You know the truth but post against it: “Yes, Bobbo. Republicans lie. They lie a LOT. About as much as Democrats.” //// Whats the KEY word/idea/concept/differential that makes all the difference between PUKE and Dumbo in a two party system?

Thats right Animby, I doubt you will post back on point, so I ask and answer for those who think Pukes are a reasonable choice: “about as much”=====and that is the very difference I post on, the very difference you wish to ignore.

Repent Animby!!!!…… opps, I meant “Reconsider Animby!!!!!”

Wake Up Animby. The Republicans want to Kill America but they can’t do it without you swallowing their lies and giving them your vote. //// Why is it that the most intelligent posters are just as dogmatic in their blindness as anyone else? I guess when your dogma is a set of beliefs, rather than A PROCESS, the results are about the same????

Sad. Yea, verily, but still sad.

Animby, if you go to bed now, wake up later: what is your deeper analysis after the purely ad hominem. Do you have any?

Ha, ha. Smart Hoomans. Still stoopid.

  19. Spetz says:

    Bobbo, chill out.

  20. Lou Minatti says:

Q: “Why Isn’t Wall Street in Jail?”
A: “Barack Hussein Obama is owned by the Wall Street fatcats.”

  21. two to the head says:

All this internet chat is worthless drivel. It makes you FEEL like you have expressed yourself when in fact you are shouting into the void.

If you are tired of the bullshit, get up off your fat asses and DO SOMETHING about it.

What? I don’t know. But we better figure something our soon or it’s gonna be over with. Se Fini

  22. bobbo, Republicans are constantly LYING on EVERYTHING. says:

Spetz==thank you for your concern. but I couldn’t be more chill. Its all about the duality of things: containing their exact opposite. Each issue in its own box, standing on its own. Humor the saving grace.

    How many are saved?

  23. bobbo, Republicans are constantly LYING on EVERYTHING. says:

#26–twohead==so you recommend acting in face of the void rather than shouting into it? Very fine distinction. I hear raindrops make up the ocean?

Hey—what meaning there is, is within yourself and that is fully expressed by actions and yelling into the void. Will it make a difference? Only to yourself, but thats where meaning is. Cute huh?

  24. two to the head says:

And you will continue to spin in circles as you follow the rest of the sewage down the drain…

  25. bobbo, Republicans are constantly LYING on EVERYTHING. says:

#29==twohead==you imply that you stand outside of the sewage? On what rock do you form such a belief system?

Inquiring minds what to be lead by a winner.

    Another round of Tigerblood please.

US hasn’t learned anything from the S&L crisis. In Texas, suburbs and airports to nowhere, Neil Bush with Silverado S&L, etc. The S&Ls were de-regulated so that their money could go into junk bonds. The FSLIC failed and the RTC had to be created to sell everything off. Twenty years later, same thing happened but on a larger scale.

I think former Countrywide CEO and high-ranking BofA executive Mozillo had a higher income than the CEO of Bank of America which acquired Countrywide.

Barack Obama was the Wall Street candidate in the 2008 Presidential Election – plain and simple. One-third of his contributions were at least $1,000. The press kept on focusing on the large number of very small contributions but missed the ball on the larger contributions. Goldman Sachs’ employees were huge contributers.

I think Paulson was the CEO there before becoming Secretary of the Treasury. Current Secretary Geithner was once there, amazing.

On regulation: Just because murder is illegal that doesn’t mean defund the homicide squads.

  27. bobbo, Republicans are constantly LYING on EVERYTHING. says:

Cranky–I feel your blinding flash of the obvious: politicians are corrupt: bought and paid for by the Corps=======or at least seem to act completely consistently with that “idea.”

Who knows what the truth is? There CERTAINLY is the “appearance” of a conflict of interest–but an engaged one? We don’t know. Only way to be sure: remove the appearance and that has now become almost impossible with Citizens United.

For Animby, Spetz, TwoHead, Ah Yea and all others: yes, recognize the two parties have much in common:::::BUT THEY ARE NOT THE SAME, and with that slight quantum difference: recognize that REPUBLICANS EXPRESSLY WANT TO KILL AMERICA. Its right there: Look===all you have to do is look. Ryan’s Budget: just look. Is that the America you want? And Obama says: Not while I’m President. At the start, thats a difference. We’ll see where he ends?

  28. msbpodcast says:

Simple. They own the companies that own/operate the jails.

    There’s no mystery here.

  29. foobar says:
