Most building codes wouldn’t permit it “but” it actually would be a rational progression for an extended family or someone with access over time to mobile homes/trailers. I actually would like to do it myself “but” I HATE fighting the permit/zoning departments. So unimaginative they are.
I do think there should be a building “code” but other than absolute safety issues, I think anyone should be able to build whatever they want to and then in the property report the exceptions/failure to meet building code should be listed out. Why shouldn’t short people be allowed to buy a house with sloping ceilings that get lower than 8 feet? Use pvc pipe for plumbing? Have no windows in the kitchen? Have mobile homes piled on top of one another?????
