Trump and Palin in ’12. That’s the ticket!

Property magnate and reality TV star Donald Trump on Thursday strung out a media tease over whether he will run for U.S. president by setting a — tentative — date for announcing a date for announcing his decision.

Trump said in a statement he may declare when he will declare whether he will seek the Republican candidacy on network television during the May 22 season finale for his reality TV show “The Celebrity Apprentice,” which airs on NBC.

Would vote for Donald Trump for President?

Whenever you model a reality using criterion that don’t accurately reflect the workings of that reality==you got garbage.

Trump can’t run anything that is not a separate corporation he can take into bankruptcy. While that is a fairly close model to how america is run, we need “a leader” who can break that model, not excel within it.

No, “I’m a businessman” is only a credential for Jail, not running a country. Even Mitt would be better.

  2. Guyver says:

Whenever you model a reality using criterion that don’t accurately reflect the workings of that reality==you got garbage.

Funny. Almost sounds like you were commenting on IPCC man-made global warming climate models. 🙂

  3. chuck says:

I wouldn’t even consider voting for Trump until I’ve seen his birth certificate.

  4. TooManyPuppies says:

No. But, I’d like him as somebody’s chief of staff. That somebody would have to be someone who isn’t afraid to beat people with a baseball bat when they spout or cling to partisan/cultist dogma.

  5. Ah_Yea says:

If he’s serious (BIG IF), then I would like to see what team he can assemble. Just because he can build a building doesn’t mean he can do good politics.

On the other hand, he does understand business, never took TARP money, isn’t big government, and is worth over 2.7 Billion dollars.

    Or…

We can always vote for the last looser.

  6. BigBoyBC says:

I wonder what his real motives are, it’s not becoming President.

Every time I see Trump, I’m reminded of the line from the song “If I were a rich man”:

“… and it won’t make one bit of difference, if I answer right or wrong… for when you’re rich they think you really know…”

Trump has opinions, not answers. He doesn’t fool me.

  7. Ruger LCR says:

Many people “run” for the Presidency. Why is Trump any different that Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton in this regard?
I don’t remember hearing any snickering about those two clowns….
Oh, no. Can’t offend a colored, black, negro, African-American, can we?
    White guys….. anything goes.
And if Jesse Ventura or Arnold can actually get elected, why not let a tv personality run?

You are all just wearing knotted panties because Trump is bringing up the birth certificate thing….

  8. Ah_Yea says:

We know Jesse Jackson won’t run for President. He’s got other things to worry about!

  9. Dallas says:

We don’t need a president with a comb over. It’s an embarrassment and the laughingstock of the world Bush has not faded away.

He doesn’t have a chance. It’s no wonder this schmuck has picked up the Obama birther red herring as a means to get in the race.

  10. McCullough says:

Does this mean we would be subjected to his ugly mug even MORE often?

Then no, I don’t think so. Jesse either.

  11. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

“Donald Trump confirmed Wednesday that he is seriously considering a run for President in 2012. Though I’m not sure that we’re going to solve the unemployment crisis with a guy whose catchphrase is ‘you’re fired.'”

He is mortgaged to the hilt. At least once a year he has to refinance at least one of his properties. The State has several times threatened to withdraw his casino license in Michigan City, IN.

Is this the kind of businessman you admire?

You are all just wearing knotted panties because Trump is bringing up the birth certificate thing….

Not quite. His denial of so many published, substantiated facts only demonstrates the ignorance of the people he wants to appeal to. He wrote his own ouster with those interviews.

If he advocated a form of financial reform he might be heard and considered.

  14. Norm says:

When talking about 1%’ers a few things comet mind…

-number of people that have 99% of Americas money.
-number of people that kill for some biker gang.
-and number of people with 99% of Americas smarts…us.

There’s no way we can fight the other 99% that will vote for them.

  15. LotsaLuck says:

    No thanks.

We’ve already got a totally unqualified fellow as president.

It would be nice if we could find someone with domestic AND international experience.

Party doesn’t matter (sorry bobbo). Let’s check his/her qualifications and policy positions.

  16. SimonSezz says:

I don’t think many Republicans would vote for him. He supports unions. Every building he builds he always fights for union labor and Trump tower in Chicago was only built with union labor.

  17. Likes2LOL says:

Oh, puh-leeeze! Is it just me, or is the whole circus of presidential politics just becoming more farcical every day? I dunno if I can stand 19 more months of all these narcissists in every news cycle… Besides term limits, we need campaign length limits.

  18. jbenson2 says:

I want to watch Trump say to the neophyte Presidential apprentice Obama:

    “You’re fired”

#2–Guyver==I can tell you aren’t being home schooled because you make such a spotty appearance here. that busy? I hope so, its a good thing.

Yes, I thought about the IPCC as I thought about making criterion plural, but I saw no need for correction.

the best way to show that a model is garbage is to show another better one? Please proceed.

And I remembered my “killer” question you have failed to answer 3 times now, so I hereby pledge to keep posting it until you answer it. It comes at the end of the thread at:

    http://dvorak.org/blog/2011/02/26/global-warming-solution-found-all-we-need-is-a-small-nuclear-war/#comments

and with reference to setting the basis of your skepticism regarding AGW: “Guyver–hypothetically, what would constitute “proof” to you that should be acted on? Or even “non proof” that should be acted on?”

    Curious Modelers want to know.

  20. Larry Budd says:

Trump proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you don’t have to be poor to be white trash. Talks loud? Check! Married a bunch of times? Check! Terrible hair that he think looks good? Check! Much much poorer than purports to be. BIG CHECK!!!

  21. Lou Minatti says:

No. He is a birther and a guy who managed to turn his father’s fortune into multiple bankruptcies.

  22. bobbo, the Rebuplicans want to Kill America says:

#16–Lotsa==sadly, you are mistaken: party not only “matters” it controls. Thats why ALL Republicans must be voted out of office, not elected, until they purge themselves of the various cancers within them. This reflects the basic corruption in our political system that elections require money and money is secured from special/corporate interests thru the auspices of the Political Parties that keep this death grip on what might otherwise be “better men” than what we have serving today.

Once all the Pukes are Purged, then we can form a more perfect union by going after the DINO’s, and then the Blue Dogs, etc until we get a process that will provide efficient services for the money taken and stop selling out to special interests to the general harm of everyone else.

This is the “only” remedy available to the average voter. Public finance of elections could solve this but it won’t be allowed. Same with “VOTE ALL INCUMBENTS OUT OF OFFICE”–more bi-partisan according to your druthers, but it also won’t work==too indirect to get their attention.

No, start with the Pukes, because they are demonstrably the worse, go on from there.

    Yea, verily.

If I wanted the last shred of respect and of dignity for the office of the PoTUS to be flushed down the commode, sure…

If I wanted someone who’s first priority would be to try to extract every single buck from the lobbyists, sure…

But if I wanted to have some one in charge (viz a whipping boy,) then no.

I sooner have a small YouTube puppy elected than the Donald.

  24. Azure Twine says:

“The Donald” and Sarah, now there is a comical pair.

He’s like Bush, all he knows how to do is FAIL at business but because he is perceived as one of the elite people listen to him.

He’s a “birther”. What a joke!! He just wants to jump on the “money raising” bandwagon Newt is so good at.

    >> We’ve been electing politicians…it hasn’t worked out too well for us…

When Obama was running against lifelong, career politician John McCain, the conservatives hammered Obama for his lack of political experience.

Now, the conservatives think being an outsider is a good thing?

But, I long ago stopped expecting any intellectual consistency from conservatives.

  26. bobbo, the Rebuplicans want to Kill America says:

GregAllen==constantly failing the logic trap: All conservatives are hypocritical f*cktards, but not all hypocritical f*cktards are conservatives. But then, you are responding to Alfie, so who knows what you deeper motivations might be?

  27. Animby says:

I feel pretty sure the Republicans would not give him the nod in which case the chatter says he will run as an Independent.

The question, then, is who he draw more votes from Dem voters or Rep voters?

Face it, most people only know him from his TV show and that face recognition would be a big advantage.

    # 25 bspodcast said, “…first priority would be to try to extract every single buck from the lobbyists…”

You have grasped at the obvious straw and missed the real point. A Trump presidency might eschew the politics of big lobbyists altogether. I think his policies would be to push back the restrictions that hamper business. He’s mostly into real estate: watch the environmental regulations get reduced. He would scale back not only the EPA but several other agencies. I doubt he would cut back on the Military and might even increase it. Unions would hate him and might he become a president like Scott Walker? You think Bush had tax cuts for the rich???

Trump scares me. He has enough recognition and says the things middle America likes to hear. He may make a serious impact on the next election. I don’t think he would win but would his impact be good or bad for the country?

  28. foobar says:

He certainly fits the foreign image of Americans.
