What would you do if you came out of your bedroom, naked, and encountered a police robot?
A Brevard County man was naked when he opened fire on a SWAT team robot and it was all caught on video, according to deputies.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said the robot was sent into the West Melbourne home last week because the homeowner had called his family and said he was going to take his own life and the life of anyone who tried to stop him.
Deputies decided that the safest way to enter was with a robot mounted with cameras. The $65,000 robot had four cameras that recorded the whole encounter. When the robot entered the house, the man came out, naked, and first tried to break the robot, then shot it at least four times with an AK-47, according to deputies.
is that an ak-47 or are you just happy to see me??
oh forgot to add, if this is dvorak uncensored, why is the picture blurred?
Why does the robot cost $65000. I would think people on this site could do it for 10,000.
#3… It’s $10,000 for the robot, $30,000 for profit and $25,000 for bribes.
He’s first on the list when sky-net take over!
Now that the Supreme Court has ruled corporations have the same rights as persons, it’s only a matter of time when shooting at a police robot will be considered attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
Like nobody said, when they send a Terminator after you, you aren’t suppose to defend yourself?
Why is it that people aren’t willing to understand that people are social beings, and that when someone transmits a call for help, they just want someone to listen to them. A robot is an affront to this guy’s troubled humanity.
ooohhh i wonder if they named the robot “murphy”! 😛
This happened 2 doors down from me. It was not funny with the army cops out in front of my house.
This is not bad. Here in the US, if your home burglar alarm goes off, or if you are LEGALLY playing with a CO2 pistol in your back yard, the police come over in full SWAT regalia and shoot your dog when he growls at them.
Last year the Oakland police shot a terrified fawn trapped and cowering in somebody’s backyard six times. Claimed it was a ‘risk to the community’.
Fucking police.
#10, Ruger,
I’m sorry, but I had to laugh at that. Shooting a fawn because it might be a risk to the community. That is effen funny. Times six.
So do these things have as much legal weight as shooting Fido when he’s gnawing on your leg?
Good for him, I’d shoot a robot if it came in my room too.
#13 for the win!
#6 That won’t happen until after they make it a capital offense to copy music and videos. A move that will no doubt get bipartisan support.
why did he come out with his hands in the air? defend your property.
I can’t imagine why authorities suspect that the man may be mentally unbalanced. Robots increasingly provoke these types of attacks, and the man’s response was really quite rational.
The Founding Fathers foresaw the day when we would need to defend ourselves against evil police robots, and that’s why they gave us the 2nd Amendment.
I thought the 2nd amendment was to protect us from the Zombie Apocalypse?
Guy has an AK 47 in his house and you want our police and social workers to go there to “listen to him” because he’s “calling out for help”.
OMG THATS SO STUPID
I bet in our new and improved “justice system” the robot has more rights than he does, and he will go to jail for killing it.
