Moving Egypt to where Iraq should be is pretty odd since someone actually had to do this graphic for it to be posted. Are they just making it up as they go along? Can’t they use the Internet to get a map? How does this sort of thing happen on a network in the first place?

Use this for reference boys.

    Not the least surprised.

  2. tcc3 says:

The mindset that your viewers are easily manipulated to believe whatever you make up is bound to result in shoddy product.

“I’ll just reuse this graphic from the Iraq war. They bought that rubbish last week, I’m sure they wont notice Egypt is in the wrong place.”

  3. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

I believe this isn’t a new graphic. Real, but not new.

I wonder what the context was in which this map was used? Some “balance” that Egypt exercised against Iran? A true conundrum as I can’t imagine how this arose by accident, nor how it could have been done on purpose. A story worthy to track down just to see how deep stupid goes at Faux News.

although, given the number of times I have looked at the map, this is the first time it is consciously in my mind that Ethiopia doesn’t contain “The Horn of Africa.” I’ll bet I used to know this but forgot? Yea, not much better, but I’m going with that. ((It was less than a year ago I google-earthed all over somalia to see how war torn it was. Obvious then that Somalia contained the Horn–just didn’t pay attention.==PS–and a good google that is too if you want to see a wreck of a country without having to get a visa.))

#6–the Rat==Don’t miss the Peta Super Bowl Veggie Outtakes Reel in the sidebar.

Still no explanation as to wtf?

  7. No fly zone says:

Obviously from an alternate reality as is the entire network.
They need to get out of the newsroom more often.

  8. nicktherat says:

    bobbo…. win the future?

  9. Blind Stevie says:

Hey they got 5 out of 6! That qualifies as a B.

Faux News strikes again. It’s funny that people take that network seriously. But it’s also sad.

  11. bobbo, the evangelical anti-theist says:

#9–Nick==I’m so wrapped up in my own private conceits that your public reveries are indecipherable to me. I don’t know how the Map or the Peta Vegetable Babes have anything to do with “win the future.” Now, the audio doesn’t work on my computer–I’m sure thats why I don’t get your reference. But I don’t and my new computer ain’t coming for a while.

Please rephrase if you think the meaning will not be lost in such dumbing down.

Anyone stop to think that perhaps Huffington Post has a copy of PhotoShop? That certainly would be up to their standards.

BTW: don’t forget to unplug your internets cable before you depart, otherwise you could pull the whole country offline.

I read this morning that King Abdullah in Jordan fired his whole cabinet, and that Syria is also experiencing civil disobedience.

Even though Time missed the boat on giving Julian Assange Person of the Year in ’10 it look like his 15 minutes are going to extend well into ’11. Maybe they will reconsider this year.

Hate to say it, but ’12 looks like as plausible a time as any for the end of the world.

JB–that map looks ok to me. Gee, I’m seeing a trend here. Does reading this blog make one stupid, or is today just an anomaly?

Blind Stevie–you showed some interest in my computer issues. I’m building a new one and my progress is a rant over on Cage Match. Any insights you might have, or questions of your own, would be appreciated. Link to CM in the Left Sidebar, or click here.

I dont care if its old..

WE HAVE BEEN FIGHTING IN IRAQ FOR HOW LONG?
    and their map shows ??

no wonder the news on fox is strange.

  19. Skeptic says:

Nothing wrong with the map… Egypt was visiting Iraq that day.

  20. nicktherat says:

hehe bobbo. i wasnt sure what you were talking about in the side bar (i do not see the Peta Super Bowl Veggie Outtakes Reel anywhere, i guess i can google it…) 🙂 and then you said WTF, which obama said a bunch of times during the state of the union. (WTF = WIN THE FUTURE). yay confusion!

  21. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

jbenson…don’t be a Fox apologist, because then you have to make up a reason for this:

Not to mention nicktherat, Obama wasn’t the first. Remember Operation Iraqi Liberation, which they quickly changed to Operation Iraqi Freedom?

bobbo, That image from jbenson has mis labeled Sydney. It is not located in the north. It is really on the south east side.

To keep it simple, the Fox sheeple try to keep blacks in Africa and towelheads somewhere near where we’re send our troops.

Happily, in the twilight of my youth, it only takes a nudge to bring reality back.

Nick–right side panel next to the video of the guy in a yellow tee shirt. More directly, since it is so excellent: http://huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/31/peta-super-bowl-ad_n_816341.html

I didn’t pay much attention to the continuing idiocy of Palin and her WTF rant, but in truth, I did remember the profane and not the poetry?

#25–J==thanks. Easy to see when its pointed out. Yeap, thats Darwin Territory. Too detailed as it was Australia. Likewise, the entire State of California is highlighted, not Southern California. Dithering, but I missed it in my glittering generality. I’m glad “someone” here is sharp enough to catch those things.

Related: ever read those tricks that say “Count the number of “o’s” in the printed material? I even KNOW the trick is that “well read” people tend to skip prepositions and don’t count the o’s such as are in “of”, “or” and “on”. And yet STILL I get those “tricks” wrong by not counting the prepositions. Yes, even when I know, my brain still has its own free will. Just how conscious are any of us?

  27. Why Bother says:

Fox News is the MOST trusted news site…so they can’t be wrong!

Except that they’re not the most trusted, that’s PBS. They’re actually the LEAST trusted. But that won’t stop their making shit up for their voice over.

Who cares though. Their base is made up of people who don’t recognize facts or reality, so it’s moot. They mostly think the earth is 6,000 years old, a magic being floats in the sky and tells us what meat products we can eat, and evolution isn’t actually “real”, and Obama is a secret Muslim from Kenya here to steal our guns. Dude, facts, science and reality aren’t the strong suit of their prime demographic.

  28. Nobody says:

Arab dictator we supported because he was on our side against the Commies/Muslims/Separatists – check

About to be overthrown by the Commies/Muslims/Separatists or forgot whose pet he is – check

We have to go in and ‘democratize’ the place – check

Seems easier to move the country on the map than redraw all the plans from last time.

  29. scadragon says:

No no, they were correct , just a bit early. Egypt will be the next Iraq!
