Muckety-mucks. Saylor is second from left.

How much of this goes on, anyway?

Orlando, Florida (CNN) — A central Florida police chief has been arrested and charged with derailing an investigation into the alleged rape of a minor in order to protect a friend.

Windermere, Florida, Police Chief Daniel Saylor, 44, was arrested Wednesday morning on felony charges of official misconduct and unlawful compensation for official behavior, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

    “Saylor is second from left.”
Looks like a mentally deficient pedophile.

  4. padillald says:

Looks like he and his friend were both guilty, tried to pin the blame on someone else and screwed it up. He deserves to stay in prison for:

    a) being corrupt
    b) being friends with a pedophile
    c) being a moron
    d) not wearing a tie straight (come on! it’s not THAT hard!)

Are all who are associated with Law Enforcement in Florida over 250 pounds?

  6. Improbus says:

The difference between this guy and the rest of them is they haven’t been caught.

  7. jescott418 says:

Corruption is everywhere and it stands to reason this probably happens more then we read about. Police are their to uphold the laws and obviously not do favors for friends and family. If your friend breaks the law, put him in jail and find a new friend!

  8. morramm says:

As soon as the conservatives get into power silly laws like rape of a minor will end so police chief and their friends can get it on with their business

“How much of this goes on, anyway?”

Not much, I’d guess. After all, whenever it happens it gets broadcast on DU – so what you see is what you get!

Considering the sheer number of coppers in the USA, the inevitable percentage of bad ones certainly seems to be extraordinarily low.

Still, if you keep highlighting the exceptions, it will certainly skew people’s perceptions of the norm.

  10. Improbus says:

You say it’s “highlighting the exceptions” and I say it’s “tip of the iceberg”. I guess I am just more cynical than you.

One of our Local Sherriffs in Mass recently BLEW HIS HEAD OFF after investigators began snooping and found he was selling promotions for thousands of dollars !!!

Does this police chief have a daughter we could possibly meet? I am sure after shes been raped he wont want that covered up.

  15. Elgog Partynipple says:

We have something like this going on in Pennsylvania right now. Two teens beat an illegal alien to death and the local police covered it up. Now the police officers (3 of them) are going to trial prosecuted by the US Justice Department. The police covered up the murder.

  16. Glenn E. says:

Why are corrupt police chiefs almost always over weight? The unfortunate expression “pig” started back during the 1968 Democratic National Convention, in Chicago. And by the films of the outside protesters being beaten by mostly over weight cops. It’s not surprising, how the label came about. Most of the protesters were thin college students or activists. While the cops were generally husky to plump, and of a lower education and intelligence level.

The problem is that metropolitan police chiefs are appointed by politicians, mayors. Not elected to their position, by the voters, or the police force rank and file. So you can almost bet a corrupt police chief was appointed by a corrupt or incompetent mayor or governor. Which unfortunately, also isn’t all that unusual.
