And if you are in Las Vegas this holiday season say hello to my children. I sent them there to live with relatives when we lost our home.
The fact that this was ever debated shows how out of touch the congress is , this should have done regardless of Bush Tax Cuts deal.
This video need to be shown everywhere , this is a wake up call that most of us could be next.
#3 The GOP is holding legislation hostage unless Congress passes their $800 Billion spending to save the top 3% of American billionaires from paying taxes they paid before the tax cuts – a whopping 3% delta.
The American Sheeple have been programmed to support this GOP spending bill financed by China for some bizarre reason. The only trickle down assured is a golden shower because that money will be used to buy more shares of Apple.
Unfortunately, it is not feasible to pay people not to work for over 2 years. These people have to depend on charity from people they know, not from forcibly confiscated money from other people. How long do you think this can keep up? Life has limits. In 5 years, should we still be paying them not to work?
About one half of the people in this country are not members of Obama’s party. Was anyone who did not vote Democrat involved in this production? Or is it simply a Democrat Party propaganda piece?
Yes. People are unemployed. That’s why they received unemployment insurance. A healthy dose of it. Should that mean the government pays their mortgage and bills forever?
I see people collecting aluminum cans for a living in my neighborhood. They seem to be working. I would like some free money also. Just because I go to work every night and work my ass off does not mean I should not have free food, free medical and free income too, or I am being penalized because I work? Every day.
Oh. Free Holiday food for hungry people? Give me a break. The majority of people in those food giveaway lines in San Francisco are Chinese people who have five people get out of a better car than I drive, and go through the food line, then stuff about twelve bags of free groceries in the trunk and drive home.
Homeless food kitchens are another matter. I contribute to those, because those people need help. Not people paying a mortgage and driving a car.
Need food? Need money? Sell your car. Huge expense eliminated. One people without jobs should not have. When you get a job, get a car.
Now you liberals can all tell me how evil I am, even though I am raising my son single-handedly, without government handouts, and working five nights a week, and weekend nights in shitty neighborhoods to put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads.
I drive a ratty old pickup truck, 25 years old. Buy my nice house is paid off, because instead of leasing a shiny car, and going to restaurants and baseball games, I paid off my mortgage.
If I got laid off, I have money I saved in the bank to fall back on.
How many of the faces in this video drive a 25 year old truck?
The GOV should hire them all…Put them to work.
rebuild infrastructure. CREATE jobs.
Then TAX the corps to pay for them..
PROFITS are not a means to run a country..its BUYING POWER…
1 rich person can NOT Have more buying power then 1,000,000 paid employees.
Fax..
Each person should have 1 home NON TAXED..OWNED by them. PROPERTY should have little or NO VALUE unless used for business.
#5 “How long do you think this can keep up?”
That is the question isn’t it?
What else does this apply to? You could make the same kind of appeal for housing, medical care, education, ad infinitum. The simple fact, despite bogus arguments against wars and dumb political statements, is there are more and more in need and fewer and fewer to provide aid. Do we just tax everyone to the max and devote our national effort to providing “safety nets”?
These tear jerk ads don’t appeal to me especially from a labor union of all things. It’s become like the politicians saying it’s “for the children”.
Amen Fax! Everyone I’ve ever known who was on unemployment miraculously found a job right about the time their unemployment ran out. Maybe without a check coming in these people can put their effort into searching for work instead of whining at a camera. Oh, and my truck is 7 years old and paid off, but I have a nice mortgage 🙂 Wanna trade?
#10 You are a heartless bitch. Did it ever occur to you that it takes 5 to 7 months to find a job? Duh! Maybe that might have something to do with why they always find a job when their benefits run out. They have 6 months to do the almost impossible. Usually they settle for something that pays less than their UI pays. Then they pay less taxes because they are making less. And then we have a deficit. That’s how it works. No jobs = no taxes. Free Trade Treaties = No jobs. Idiots like you = Vote Republican
You know, EVERY political position/program is played by a percentage of folks. Doesn’t even matter how large that percentage might be if the program is well constructed and well aimed. Unemployment does NOT pay for mortgages. Faxon you are an idiot or a stooge or more likely a self absorbed ditto head repeating things that on their face are untrue if you could give it a moments though==ie, more thought than you give your kneejerk straight Puke Party vote. You should be ashamed at your transparent idiocy.
Course, you aren’t alone as long as Nextlie and dismal have a parrots voice within them. Yes indeed. I have a 3000 sq foot home. I don’t feel abused helping the poor live in some of the Section 8 housing I have seen. I have always been in excellent health–sick for two days in my life due to sinusitis. I would exchange quite a bit of my good fortune to keep my good health. I feel for those with chronic conditions imposed on them in most cases by our all merciful god. Much better I give them some of my money than share in their illness. Education? My christ its a burden to have to talk to you ignorant people. Yes, take another share of my wealth to get you the books you so obviously need to read==an educated public is good for the Republic. How about ad infinitum? I guess you have a holding card against any other social program that might benefit your fellow man as well?
Yes, I recall a news commentor complimenting Reagun: if he met a poor person on the street he would stop and give the man the shirt off his back==but never wonder why he was poor. Reminds me of BushtheMalignantRetard who when asked what she was to do by a women holding three jobs to keep her family together could think of nothing but admiring her for having 3 jobs.
Something about the Puke frame of mind to see the growing historical gap between the rich and poor and think it is all the poor’s fault. That the poor do not need/deserve any money while the rich need/deserve even more.
Off with their heads.
#7 ECA, umm, last time I checked the property taxes I pay on my house pay for the public school system, I believe thats the case for the majority of the country. Otherwise everybody would be paying tuition to send their kids to school (ooh, what a GREAT idea! That way I wouldn’t be subsidizing all the undocumented Democrats who rent).
I’ve been unemployed a lot, although never during a time when you could get 99 weeks of benefits; I think the longest stretch was about a year. The craziest thing was though they offer some retraining benefits, like IT training mostly for displaced workers, they offer you no way to capitalize on the training by getting the IT certifications that would actually help you get a job. So you have training but no certification exams.
To top it all off, you are prohibited from attending school unless it is through one of their narrowly focused ‘retraining’ programs, so if you’re short your bachelor’s degree, and that is what’s keeping you from getting a job, you are SOL.
So yeah, I’ve been there. I haven’t had enough money to pay bills. I relied on my relatives for housing and sustenance to a certain extent, I downsized significantly, I drove the same truck for 13 years that I bought new after I drove even worse pieces of crap and scrimped and saved. I declared bankruptcy and started over. I’ve been there.
If you are out of work for 6 months, let alone for two years or more, it’s way past time to look at a different career or even a different locale. You do what you have to do to get back on your feet, you don’t sit on your ass collecting gummint and union checks waiting for the assembly plant to reopen. You go collect cans, you take a fast food job, you go do tree trimming, or ditch digging or whatever. You sell your extra cars and even sell that one if you can get something for cash and cheaper insurance. You sell everything you own if you have to, to keep food on the table and a warm coat on your kids’ back.
If you can’t (or won’t) do that, then you’ve failed, and there isn’t enough anybody can do for you to save you. You have to save yourself, regardless of whatever temporary help the government or private support entities can provide.
#10:
“Everyone I’ve ever known who was on unemployment miraculously found a job”
Get your head out of your ass.
Real unemployment is over 20% – the people on unemployment these past three years are NOT the same people who were on unemployment in the 90s – or even five years ago.
I’m a pretty serious libertarian, but it’s ridiculous that Congress hands over bazillions of dollars, with no debate, to bail out big corps and fight wars, WITH THE VERY MONEY THESE NOW UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE WERE PAYING IN TAXES, and they wring their hands trying to decide if they want to give these people back a fraction of a percent of the federal budget so they can buy food.
It’s disgusting.
If the president wants it and the Democratic congress wants it, it won’t happen because the Republicans are against it, even if the Republicans want it. I appears that the Republican party will do anything to ensure that President Obama will not be reelected , even if it is what the American people want.
These Republicans are not serving the American people that they claim, they are serving the party line.
…and on the other side of life in America, our elected representatives have only to show up (one could hardly call it WORK) for one term of office to be eligible to retire with full benefits for life. Plus, they get to set their own pay. How goddamned stupid are We The People?
Quote #5 srgothard: “These people have to depend on charity from people they know, not from forcibly confiscated money from other people. How long do you think this can keep up?”
I’m unemployed; it would be five years before I got back even half of the money the government ‘forcibly confiscated’ from me just in the name of ‘Unemployment Insurance’ would that be too much?
=O(
Wow I came back & found out that I’m a heartless bitch with my head stuck in my ass.
While your opinions are all fine and good, I still find this welfare to be pretty sad. And the fact that 20% of the population is content sucking on the governments tit doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in my fellow man.
I’ve never taken five to seven months to find work, the most I’ve been out of work was for 30 days and I used two weeks of that for a vacation. I’ve always made at least $50K per year since ’98 (when I was 20) so you’ll have to forgive me for thinking that 98% of these people are lazy slobs that enjoy Oprah too much.
Or maybe since I skipped out on the college in favor of making money the liberal indoctrination that runs our institutions of higher education that rich people and business are bad just never sunk into my psyche.
Maybe I am heartless after all, but then again despising lazy people and working my tail off has always proven a successful path for me. Maybe if others tried it they would see things turn too. But that does require getting off the couch and too many people are not willing to take that first step.
ubet==let’s do a little mind experiement==ok?
Imagine you have a society. Any society. Doesn’t matter how large or how small or when or where. Now imagine that that society under whatever rules you want to establish will generate X number of jobs. Now, what is your best thinking on the matter: that there will always be X number of people in said society all qualified for those jobs? Or will there be at times too few people, and at other times too many people?
whats your best thinking on that snuggums?
waika # 17,
We all have paid massive amounts of money to the government. The mistake is to think that they have it. The US is in debt. The government does not have your money. It went to other people who saved up less unemployment and administrative fees.
The government cannot meet people’s needs, only the people can. Government should not be in the business of anything but protecting people from criminals, foreign attackers, terrorists, and con artists.
#18:
There’s really no point arguing with you. You’re extrapolating anecdotal personal evidence to explain the situation.
Fact is, there are more people than there are jobs. To a degree not seen since the depression.
#7 What did Nancy P. do on the public tab? She was living like a Goddess. How does Obama and his family live? Where does the money to pay for it come from?
Remember his commit about public health care and it applying to him?
Look at Gore and Clinton. The amount of money they’ve sold out for or extorted from the Saudi’s is obscene and the Clinton charities are a gold mine. I think the last data according to Adam was that it cost them something like 30,000,000 to handle that money which was a heck of a big chunk of the funds handled. Had to pay for their kids wedding no doubt. I wonder if their son in law is on the pay roll? Just asking.
I’m not sure about the Bush Presidents. They seem to be more or less happy with the wealth they already have but then I haven’t been digging either and they clearly are more circumspect in their dealings.
Don’t worry about all the small stuff folks. When it all comes crashing down there will be a huge die-off of the excess population. All the government-dependnt welfare folks. People who’ve mostly had self-sufficiency and survival instincts bred out of them. Then we won’t have to worry about unemployment, jobs or government.
Get a damn job! We owe you nothing. Stop asking for free money and demand that the government quit stifling businesses and penalizing the working. There is not an honest person in this world that would want or could possibly expect years worth of welfare.
I work to support my family not yours, they are your responsibility. Why the does the government have the right to take my family’s sustenance at the point of a gun to feed you and yours?
Sadly the amount we tax payers spend in subsidising corporations in a supposed free market nation would pay for all these people to be employed by the government and we would still have excess funds on hand to go towards other badly needed projects.
The corporations are the biggest welfare recipients. Not individual citizens.
To all who would cut these people off and claim to be Christian. Please stop, you’re not anything of the sort.

“Why the does the government have the right to take my family’s sustenance at the point of a gun to feed you and yours?”
I hope you complained just as loudly when they took your money, at the point of a gun, to fund the bailouts and the war.
Did you ever think that maybe these people need unemployment benefits because the gov’t has been taking half of their income, “at the point of a gun” as you say, and therefore couldn’t save anything?
Since my post mistakenly disappeared I thought I share it again.
“All I have to say is FCK Bush and his father.”
#23, I think that scenario could also go the opposite way. There could be a lot of people on welfare that have learned to live with little, whereas the middle class people that have a lot now don’t know much about living with nothing. A lot of the people that are wealthy are the ones that need services done for them because they don’t know how to do it themselves. I bet a lot of people living in the sticks know how to hunt an animal and skin it and eat it. It’s been rumored that’s why the deer population is so much lower in many states this hunting season is because people living in the rural areas are killing them for food. A person used to eating out every day probably won’t have those survival skills. But it’s all just speculation and b.s at this point anyway. If shit got that bad then I think politics will be the last thing people will be thinking about.
Just wanted to point out that this extension doesn’t give the 99ers another 13 months. The 99ers are still done after 99 weeks. This new bill just covers those behind the 99ers who are about to lose benefits.
I won’t denigrate these people. I will say that people who can’t find work for two years should perhaps move to where the opportunities are. My family was forced to do this in the late 1970s. America has always been a mobile society. Some places with high unemployment just aren’t ever coming back.
#29:
“I will say that people who can’t find work for two years should perhaps move to where the opportunities are.”
And how are they supposed to pay for the move?
“And how are they supposed to pay for the move?”
The same ways generations of Americans have.
