NASA will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. EST on Thursday, Dec. 2, to discuss an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe.
It will be broadcast live on NASA Television and streamed on the agency’s website at www.nasa.gov.

I’m presuming there have been significant advances in exoplanet research, knowledge, conclusions. Could be fun.
I bet $20 this has been blown way out of proportion.
“For him it began one lost night on a lonely country road, looking for a short-cut that he never found. It began with a closed deserted diner…and a man too long without sleep to continue his journey. It began with the landing of a craft from another galaxy. Now………”
Ruh roh.
“Extra” in the title is extra. Conference is about alien (as in differently based vs. anything else on Earth) life found in California lake.
Extra-terrestrial is of course interesting but what we are going to see in our own life times is age extension/reveral for hoomans right here on earth. Lots of coverage reported this week. Just imagine what the rich will do to live for ever and escape having to pay all those death taxes. The mind boggles.
I think this about the finding that astronomers have under counted the number of stars in the universe by a factor of 3. As a result there is be a better chance of finding planets suitable for life. Link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101201/ap_on_sc/us_sci_starry_night
“We found aliens… and they all work at Goldman Sachs!”
God emailed and said…
“Dear Earthling Sheeple, You’re not alone and in fact amongst the dumbest of the life forms. This is why I have ignored you.
In fact you’re in the outer fringes of a dying group of space dust orbiting a dying star orbiting the fringes of an insignificant galaxy occupying only 4 of the 12,000 dimensions.
If you think you’re sorry asses are special, you’re not alone on that alone. “
“Take me to your Chuck Berry.”
(paraphrase of SNL line)
Interesting, life that uses arsenic in place of phosphorous is possible… They’ve created something unlike any other life on Earth.
A gizzilion stars and planets!
Biology that uses almost any element to create life!
And Earth has the only life in the universe?
Guess what?
It’s waiting out there for us to find it.
With NASA losing so much funding. Could this be a ploy to make them seem important again?
How is it that NASA is doing anything on Earth anyway? I thought NASA stood for “National Areonautical Space Administration”?
I have the damndest feeling, a still small voice, that says although there are many extra-solar planets we’ll never find life on any of them. At some point we’ll have to realize this and it’ll be time for some painful, lengthy introspection.
