Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg stormed off the set of “The View” during an appearance by “The O’Reilly Factor” host Bill O’Reilly on Thursday morning. Conversation during the morning show segment had turned to the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque.” “Seventy percent of Americans don’t want that mosque down there,” O’Reilly said.

When asked why, O’Reilly explained that the mosque was not supported by the majority of Americans because its location was “inappropriate.” When Goldberg asked why it was inappropriate, citing 70 Muslims who died in the attacks, O’Reilly said: “Because Muslims killed us on 9/11. That’s why.” Goldberg responded, “That is such bulls**t.”

“Muslims didn’t kill us? Is that what you’re saying?” O’Reilly asked.

“Extremists did that!” Goldberg said.

As the conversation became more heated, Behar got up from her seat beside O’Reilly. “I don’t want to sit here right now, I don’t,” Behar said. “I am outraged by that statement.” Goldberg joined her colleague and the two walked off stage.

Why in the world would he appear on that show in the first place? Unless of course he’s hoping to get a date with Whoopie.

  1. bobbo, in a socialist frame of mind says:

Why? To boost his own ratings.

The issue is however illustrative of how too many can’t handle the ambiguities of multi-faceted issues that all need to be defined = and never are.

Was 911 an attack by “Muslims?”//// Yes and No both totally dependent on how you define Muslim. If you don’t have in mind at least one definition for both yea and nay, then basically you are not qualified to consider the issue to any worthy extent. You are like Whoopi, Behar, and O’Reilly. single position stooges.

    Easily led.

  2. Doughoist says:

Who then was it if it were not Muslim extremists? And what religion is it in all the modern world that breeds these kinds of extremists more than Islam?

  3. Mellowbob says:

What religion breeds more extremists? I’d guess right wing Christians.

    Is that the right answer?

  4. The_Tick says:

@ #2 Gotta be christians,,,, take the muslims a long time to catch up to the ira in sheer numbers.

  5. gquaglia says:

Yeah, why stay and have a debate when you can just walk off the stage when you don’t agree with what is being said. The view is a joke, cackling yentas who deal in softball interviews. Agreed, why would O’Reilly want to deals with those idiots. Remember the view is the show where one of its hosts isn’t sure the world isn’t flat.

  6. McCullough says:

    #3. Historically I’d say that’s about right.

  7. ramuno says:

“Christians killed us in Oklahoma City” is the equivalent statement.

  8. Sean says:

Catholic Churches should be banned within a mile of any park. Baptist churches should be banned within a mile of any federal government building. Bill O’Riley should be banned within a mile of any reasoning person.

It’s unfortunate that his (and others’) business model is to spout off controversial viewpoints. I bet he doesn’t even believe it himself. It’s a living.

  9. jbenson2 says:

    O’Reilly for the WIN!

  10. derspankster says:

Anyone wanting to you what we value as a society today should be reminded that Big Bill is a multimillionaire.

  11. FRAGaLOT says:

    I don’t watch the View because I’m a dude

I think Sherri Shephard left the show some years ago, or was it some other fat ass loud mouth? This show is too religious to be typical liberal type show.

Both Liberals and Democrats are very deeply judo/christian. Remember the so-called bible-belt population tend to be democrats. This is probably why there’s very little difference between Dems and Reps anymore. It seems to me that the more liberian minded people are atheist.

  12. deowll says:

Looks like that got the viewers all stirred up. Mission accomplished.

You have the killing in China under Moa, you have the purges under Stalin, you have Hitler who’s views are sorta pseudo religious. You have places like Darfur where most viewers don’t have clue on the body count. A few thousand Christians seem to have been murdered in Iraqi after the American take over though nobody has a body count. I want to be fair here though most minorities tend to vanish under Islamic governments including other Islamic minorities.

I’d say Islamic extremist were at least as violent as what went on during the middle ages in Europe and later only they haven’t slowed down as much as one might wish. Some of you forget that one guy became a Christian in Afghanistan and the locals almost killed him. If outsiders hadn’t intervened the evidence is they would have killed him. Is he still alive? I don’t know.

Trying to convert a Muslim in an Islamic country is pretty much a death sentence for the converter and the converted. Having a Bible in some of these countries is to risk your life. Do any of you recall the stink when it turned out some of the iron gun sites being issued had the numbers for Bible verses on them? Just the numbers, no verses.

They aren’t going to love you atheist either. You might be able to locate a Muslim who will say they will tolerate you by choice but I wouldn’t consider them to be at all orthodox. You clearly oppose the will of Allah as written in God’s unchanging word by the prophet Mohammad.

The most famous guy I know about who really stood up for turn the other cheek was Jesus and look what happened to him.

Well Buddha may have been peaceful too but some how people always find a way to justify their being violent in the name of God of course and if not God then the ends justify the means, right?

Stalin, Moa, Hitler, that guy in Cambodia, as well as Osama and his ilk were just out to make the world a better place to live for the right sort of people and some people needed to be removed for that to happen so mass murder ensued. The ends justified the means, right?

Not in my view. The good rabbi/Jesus did not approve of that sort of thing and I’m listening to him on this topic.

I think violence in self defense and the defense of others can be justified if you don’t stretch it to far but that is about as far as I’m willing to go. Any more than that and I’m not living up to what I believe is right.

I do _accept_ capital punishment for murder. I regard that as the only way for a person to pay off their blood dept for the shedding of innocent blood.

Well living a life of service to others might work but somehow or other most murderers don’t seem to be all that interested in living a life of service to others. The nearest I’ve heard of is a few that said, I’m dangerous and you need to keep me locked up.

  13. Dallas says:

I think O’Really is going after Rush and what’s her face with the long neck. He has lost all credibility and relevance in reporting and the younger demographics think he’s a tool.

He’s now moving over to the loony fringe market where rhetoric sells. You can’t blame him.

  14. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

Is it primarily Christians or is it atheists who are taking the uncharitable view that the Muslim cultural center cannot be allowed to be built a couple of blocks away from Ground Zero?

  15. ECA says:

    WE have an Expansive language.
WE can express many things, and isolate things down to a Narrow margin..
IF, he wishes to say Muslim…FINE..

what would he say about the Federal building in IOWA? who did that?
What would he say about KIDS in schools SHOOTING EACH OTHER?? who did that??
How about WHO buried carcinogens Threw out Arizona??
    Lets name some NAMES..
Christians, Catholics, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, Mormons, … how many more do you want?

HOW about the Chemical factory in INDIA? DOW? chemical?? what religion are THEY? and NO CLEANUP has been done.

WHO is selling India and other countries SEED, that either WONT pollinate or is under contract NOT TO USE the seed in the next crop?? Is this a christian?

How many in this country that say they BELIEVE in Christ, but dont practice his lessons with OTHERS..

  16. howard beal says:

bill must hate the constitution then because of the rights it gives all religions including muslims

    he is such a Pinhead
I disagree with him, but i’m pretty sure he’s not hitler

  17. Bob says:

#16, as I recall Bill, like most conservative talk show hosts I have heard, all say while its perfectly legal build the mosque, its inappropriate. Kind of like putting a strip club beside a high school. Sure legally their is probably nothing wrong with it, but its not something that is encouraged.

  18. CrazyJoe says:

I have to say that what he said was wrong. Not only in what he said but in how he said it. I myself no longer believe in any all powerful Deity, and that was and is from personal choice. I will say that I was born and raised Roman Catholic. And while I no longer believe in all that. I do not and will not force my beliefs on others. I also have to agree with ECA. We should just use the word terrorist and leave religion out of it. But look at all the things in history that were done in the name of Religion. “The Crusades”, all the wars that were started in the name of one Deity or another. OR the Spanish Inquisition. I can cite another 20 or 30 more instance of just that.

  19. Mr. Fu says:

The more that leave, makes it a better view. Keep that hot blond chick, though.

  20. Faxon says:

I see. Muslims didn’t kill anyone on 9-11. Now I understand.
    Sheesh.

  21. Mr Ed says:

Typical Republican Tea Party puppet. Only out for selfish gains no mater what the facts no mater who is hurt. Asshat.

  22. bobbo, in a socialist frame of mind says:

After 1492, no white man had the intention of taking over and destroying the Native Indian Cultures. Just the effect of two cultures who see themselves as distinct trying to live in the same space. One wins, the other loses. No “intent” required.

Same with Muslims vs Non Muslims.

It may take 400 years for the Muslims to pacify the West, or they may integrate. Just like the indians did.

    Ha, ha.

  23. ubet426 says:

The whole mosque thing is a joke in my mind anyway. I don’t care who attacked us on 9/11… last I checked we have a freedom of religion in this country and it’s insane to try and block anyone from building a religious gathering place anywhere that zoning permits. It’s in the Constitution. What’s next, are they going to overlook the 10th amendment too?

On a second note, did anyone else notice how when the blond chick was saying that Obama made things worse by requiring us to use Muslim Extremest instead of terrorist (which was a valid point) the fat black bitch (not Whoopi) immediately disagreed?

Tell me again, who watches this show & why did I just waste 3 minutes watching a clip and then another 3 minutes replying?

  24. Hyph3n says:

Bob said, “Bill, like most conservative talk show hosts I have heard, all say while its perfectly legal build the mosque, its inappropriate. Kind of like putting a strip club beside a high school.”

And ironically, there is a strip club in the same neighborhood where they are wanting to build the Islamic center… which apparently is appropriate.

You got to give it to the Rush/Drudge/Beck’s of this world. Of all the made up outrages we have seen in this election, this one still has legs.

  25. Usually a guest will walk off a show for being badgered. I have NEVER EVER seen hosts walk off their own show! That was hilarious.

  26. Freakhead says:

I like what Michael Moore said on his 1st show of the season.

60 Muslim Americans died in the attack.

And good thing we have that McDonald’s 2 blocks from Ground Zero.

  27. Sea Lawyer says:

I’m not sure who throws more temper tantrums when others don’t agree with them, progressives or conservatives.

  28. howard beal says:

    Bob #17
Bill, says while its perfectly legal build the mosque, its inappropriate

It’s to be two blocks away… how far do you want this self imposed NO MOSQUE zoning to be? 2 blocks, 4, 10 miles, 100 miles? In a City as dense as New York 2 blocks might as well be 2 miles and It’s not even a Mosque It’s a Community Center with a Muslim prayer room. Their were prayer rooms and chapels within the World Trade Center and many Muslims were killed that day too.

    “NO Ground Zero Mosque.”
Thats like saying Waco should not have a YMCA with a Chapel because David Koresh and his followers were akin to the Branch Davidians who were an offshoot of the Seventh Day Adventists who are Christians! AWWWWW!!! no YMCA for Waco.

See how silly this no Mosque Ground Zero sounds to us regular citizens.

A patriotic American would point out the fact that such a project is being build there and now is one of the things that makes a great.

Bill is a pinhead trying to keep his ratings up peddling FEAR like most of whats on FOX

  29. howard beal says:

Oh and if Waco’s not relevant enough for you how about Oklahoma City?

Timothy McVeigh was a registed Republican raised a Roman Catholic and NRA member so AWWWWW!!! no YMCA for down town Oklahoma City no gun shops and no GOP party offices

  30. martron3000 says:

Bill O’Reilly is just a big drama queen who likes to be outrageous and stir up controversy. Whether or not he actually believes or means everything he says, I don’t know. But it’s clear that he loves to instigate arguments just so he can sit back and watch the fireworks.
