Apple’s off the rack prices have gotten better, however, due to the design…repair costs are still much higher. If you’re smart, you will purchase Apple Care. And that could be the deal breaker.
When pedro bought his MacBook Air it put Apple over the top into double digits.
#1 The newest lineup of Macs are really very easy to work on. You can pretty much take a iMac apart with a couple of suction cups.
Copenhagen doesn’t have offshore hurricanes and tropical storms. I hope these things can weather the worst weather on earth. Why no wind turbines off the west coast? Are Californians too snobby to allow them?
With so many supposed asteroids, supposedly just missing earth. Maybe we should start thinking about “asteroid power”. Sort of a reverse rail gun. Suck some of the kinetic energy out of these things. And maybe they’ll spiral into the sun, sooner.
Nothing about George Clooney’s call for a new war in the Sudan? Is he the latest war propagandist? The US is barely finished in Iraq, still mired in Afghanistan. And before it can dare to enjoy anything like a “peace dividend”. It’s gong ho to the next war to save somebody’s bacon. Only it’s rarely for the reasons given. As the Pentagon Papers once reveled about the Vietnam War. There must be something in the Sudan of value, besides human lives. Or there would be no advance news about this.
Bing and Facebook combine? Three good reasons not to use either. The sum being worse than its individual parts.
Gartner thinks that iPads shouldn’t be counted in Apple sales (even though most aren’t including it). Does it need a physical keyboard to be a computer? Are people using it mainly as a “media consumption” device?
Hmm, perhaps 10% in the US but certainly NOT in the rest of the world who’s population still see them as Fisher Price toy computer alternatives for stupid people.
World wide they aren’t even at 4%.
I wonder how many non-computer devices like the iPad and iPhones (coz steve jobs says they are computers) are included in these bogus marketshare numbers.
#3. jobs- Uh-huh, just to get to the power supply remove glass with suction cup kit (approx. $300.00 for the kit), remove LCD bezel, remove system board , LCD screen, memory, possibly the video card, then remove the power supply.
For a PC, remove 4 screws, replace power supply, replace 4 screws. Tools: 1 Phillips head screwdriver. No proprietary kit.
Which one is easier and less costly to repair?
This is my first time to call your blog and I would say you parcel nice selective information. You emphatically do explore and write very well. Keep it up!
#9 pretty much said it. That is pretty much it on most computers. On a Dell case you just open the catch then you need a Philips screw driver. Depending on what you do or don’t know a few directions may come in handy.
Swapping out ram on an older machine a couple of weeks back may have taken as much as ten minutes but with a little practice I suppose I could have got it down to 2 1/2.
If you know what you are doing you could do a power supply, a hard drive, and ram in 15.
Of course I have one HP desktop in which they must have put the ram on the back side of the mother board or something because where ever it is it sure isn’t visible on the front.
