Colorado Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes says a Denver bike-sharing program could threaten residents’ “personal freedoms” because it is part of an attempt to control U.S. cities.
Maes said last week that an international environmental group that promotes Denver’s B-Cycle program is part of a “greater strategy to rein in American cities under a United Nations treaty.”
The group to which Maes was referring, the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives, is an association with more than 1,200 communities as members, half of which are in the United States…
Maes made the comments at a rally where he criticized Democratic Mayor John Hickenlooper’s initiative to increase bicycling in the Denver through the bike-sharing program. B-Cycle allows people to use about 400 bicycles at dozens of stations around the city for a daily or monthly fee.
“This is bigger than it looks like on the surface, and it could threaten our personal freedoms,” Maes said in comments that were first reported by the Denver Post…
Nate Strauch told The Associated Press that Maes was trying to say that the biking initiative is a “gateway program” being pushed by ECLEI on cities that eventually lead to extreme measures, such as the promotion of abortions and population control.

I think you meant deflation. Inflation, in this economy, is very unlikely unless we get rampant commodity speculation or a war breaks out … wait, aren’t we about to attack Iran, never mind.
Improb==we may need Sea Lawyers help on this one. I mean our currency will inflate meaning prices for everything we buy will go up 30-50 or more overnight and go up from there. Thats what happens when you print money instead of manage it. Savings effectively are destroyed as are all other debts foreign and national.
I’m somewhat surprised it hasn’t happened already and don’t see how it won’t happen eventually. With debt and deficit growing every day, and every person in the USA owing something in excess of $10K each, the books will eventually have to be balanced.
Again, the middle class takes it in the shorts.
It is hard to have inflation when the only people with money are the banks and the government. Regular people are not spending. They are saving for the uncertain future.

Bobbo, the guy has a viable competitor. The other guy was the frontrunner for the nomination and the general election until recently.
Then a third Republican laid down an ultimatum. You have to promise that on Sept 1, if you are not leading in the polls you will drop out and let the party pick another candidate. If you don’t make this promise, I’m going to enter the race myself. So now Tom Tancredo is running as a 3rd party candidate.
Liberals happily signed up for government mandate you buy health insurance, and mandate that your political ads must have you saying I approve this message.

#47, bobbo, you are correct, the new candidate makes it impossible for them to win, but it still is a good move on his part.
3 players here, Maes(I assume he’s the other Republican), McInnis, and Tom Tancredo.
McInnis was the frontrunner until lately. Tom Tancredo has made the conclusion that neither guy can win, so he wants them to drop out.
How to do this? He gives them the ultimatum, make this promise or I join the race.
Now the other guys look at it as they have no chance to win unless they make the promise.
The promise still gives them a chance to win, but carries the risk that they have to drop out, assuming they keep their promise.
They chose not to make the deal, so now Tancredo had the choice of doing what he promised and costing Republicans the governorship, or going back on his promise and giving his side a chance. Since he started with the premise that the two guys can’t win, he had little to lose.
If this group wants to reduce the number of SUVs or trucks then they are the most evil sacks of shit ever. Otherwise this is all of minor importance anyway.
