The industry has also argued that sugar is sugar.

Heaney said his team found otherwise. They grew pancreatic cancer cells in lab dishes and fed them both glucose and fructose.

Tumor cells thrive on sugar but they used the fructose to proliferate. “Importantly, fructose and glucose metabolism are quite different,” Heaney’s team wrote.

“I think this paper has a lot of public health implications. Hopefully, at the federal level there will be some effort to step back on the amount of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) in our diets,” Heaney said in a statement.

The evidence keeps mounting against HFCS. The corn lobby made this happen. Vegetarians and Vegans eat a diet high in fructose and HFCS..

    21, Camacho,
Corn is a useless crop that requires a lot of fertilizers. This is why Americans are fed so much corn-based foods.

It has to do with the U.S. being an agricultural country and us consuming what we grow in abundance. Our diets are heavily wheat, corn, potato, soy, and rice based because that’s what we grow. Most of the refined foods at the grocery store will have at least one of these ingredients.

No, it was very diverse before the US federal government grew big very big and American agriculture became dependent on federal subsidies. As a nation of immigrants, it should have done better. I repeat American eat corn to support the oil industry.

  2. The evidence is not “mounting against HFCS.” Americans get more fructose from refined sugar (which contains fructose and glucose) than high fructose corn syrup, according to USDA data. More importantly, we get fructose from MANY sources like fruits and vegetables. Misleading news stories like one quoted above fear-monger and ultimately damage to the well-being of consumers.

its not misleading if you read on my posts.
In NATURE, for you to get the amount of Fructose in 1 candy bar, you would need to eat a Bushel of apples. ALONG with all the fructose, you would be eating ENOUGH BULK/FIBER to flush it thru your system.

ALSO the price of cane sugars are CHEAP AROUND the world. Why not BUY some?
BECAUSE we closed the market in the USA. its TOTALLY restricted. but they cant MAKE enough Cane sugar, and the price goes up(only in the USA), so they DESIGN another sugar..AND IF you watched the video above, you will find the HFCS is PART of Sucrose.

In ALL of the above..its NOT the HFCS..its the AMOUNTS we are eating.
Its the COKE, with salt and ENOUGH HFCS to hide the flavor.
ITS your candy bar, that doesnt FEED/satisfy YOU or your HUNGER.
Artificial Sugars that are EVEN WORSE.

    Its an OLD trick..
Your body CRAVES, certain things. IF it does not find what it NEEDS, it FORCES you to EAT until it FINDS IT.

People babble on and on about what they think they know. One of my favorites here is “HFCS is a Frankenstein molecule”. HFCS is just term, short for High Fructose Corn Syrup. It’s not a monster, it’s plant sugar derived specifically from corn in a concentrated form. It’s devoid of vitamins and minerals found naturally in the whole corn kernel and it’s got no fiber. It’s simply a highly processed extraction of the ear of corn’s sugar, concentrated into a syrup. Duh. Boo…..are you STILL scared of the Franken monster now? If so you are so stupid.

  5. Beno says:

Okay, I’m no scientist, but isn’t that the stuff mostly in soft drinks? As in, the things served by the gallon in eating establishments such as McDonald’s and KFC, in which hardly any veg*n will eat?

Now, I’m not saying veg*ns don’t have the stuff in their diet, but an omnivore diet isn’t automatically free from it either.
