Not actual sandwich, but close. |
A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-DWS performing flight FR-8904 from Berlin Schoenefeld (Germany) to Rygge (Norway), was enroute when a male passenger (45) decided to purchase one of the sandwiches advertised as freshly made, however was served something he thought was not meeting expectations and tasted more like rubber. When he complained about the quality of the sandwich, the crew decided to request police meet the aircraft on arrival in Rygge. The airplane landed safely, police took the passenger off the aircraft.
Rygge’s police confirmed the incident stating with chuckles they had never before been called out for a passenger complaining about a sandwich.

Looks like any sandwich available in your average gas station/convenience store/bait shop.
Things like this won’t help Ryan’s reputation much. His best bet would have been to contact the local Health Department and report the airline.
That’s like making a fake call to 911. They should arrest the flight attendant.
Thank you for flying “Cattle Class Airways” 😛
Oooo! How appetizing! Not!!
And remind me to never fly on commercial airlines again. I’ll take my own plane. No TSA, leave when you want, stop on the way if you’d like, and arrive relaxed. Too bad there are no high speed rails from DFW, I’d use them.
Unless he did more than complain it should amount to false arrest/imprisonment which should be a crime and he should be able to collect damages.
If he got loud and belligerent that’s something else.
In any event it sounds like a good company to avoid.
When will someone bring on a carry-on filled with food, and starts selling it while walking up and down the plane?
I got your hand-made sandwich right here! $3.00!!
This seems to be the new thing with airlines. Complain about anything and they have you arrested and charged. The new friendly skies.
Probably a no-refund cabin policy. RyanAir is as leak tight as a ducks ass.
#2 Ryanairs reputation.
Their reputation is of a company that doesn’t give a damn about it’s passengers, runs a shoddy service and cuts corners (perhaps dangerously) at every possible opportunity.
How is this damaging their reputation? It’s par for the course as far as I can tell 🙂
That guys only mistake was buying an over-priced sandwich from RyanAir in the first place.
To Dum Dum Bird: You are a complete idiot. Spouting off irrelevant political garbage about the US when Ryanair isn’t even a US company. It’s Irish. If you’re going to spout off political garbage about something you should at least get the country right. Btw, as far as choice in US politics goes: GW Bush didn’t give you any choice about having you phone illegally tapped. Did he? HUH, HUH!!! ;->
I flew Ryan Air. All I wanted was a BJ and all I got was a lousy sandwich!

Given these recent stories, I expect that the airlines have been warned that their is likely to be another attack soon (weeks).
Elementry my dear Watson.
Food on planes have not been good since they did away with stewardess’ and replaced them with Flight Attendants.

Gee officer, I’m innocent.
All I was doing was complaining about my sandwich and to get their attention, I accidentally shoved the flight attendant to the ground. And it got their attention, because they listened to my complaint.
Why they called the police is beyond me. I am totally innocent, honest!
Sounds like Southwest.
this should be in the “wtf” dept as well.
I’m just back from a week in Malaga, Ryanair both legs. No complaints, but then I wasn’t so Bloody Stupid as to buy anything they sell in-flight. 8) Their strict cabin baggage policy seems to be having an effect – I saw no-body struggling to get bags in the lockers or squeezing them under the seats.
