Well, the 2010 Farnborough Airshow is currently underway. I hope to be able to go to the show this weekend. :)

For me, that was better than pR0n 😉 Thanks for sharing, back to the Sim.

  2. bobbo, junior Red Baron says:

Real Men want to see fighters – or vertical == or maybe the Osprey not actually crash?

  3. madtruckman says:

wow, an air show and the best video footage to ‘sell’ the show is of a common looking (to the average joe) plane landing?? makes me wanna run to this show….

  4. interglacial says:

    ReadyKilowatt,
Maybe it’s the large windows that make it look smaller but it’s slightly larger than a 767.

  5. lionsfan54 says:

@madtruckman – it’s more of a “Trade show” type Air show and the 787 is a big deal in that regard.

  6. Winston says:

Much longer video with tour inside:

  7. deowll says:

I just hope this thing is a huge commercial success however I do note that they are outsourcing like crazy. As for the size:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_787

The picture makes it barely larger in outline than a 767 and much smaller than a 777.

  8. Buzz says:

I’ve got $1000 on the pool that calls for exactly two crashes at FarnBo this time…

  9. ChuckM says:

Is it just mean, or did that thing just land using 1/20th of the runway it had?

I don’t think I’ve even seen a piper take that little amount of runway on a landing. Impressive…

  10. bobbo, to the left of Obama says:

Yep, its amazing what an empty airplane can do.

  11. hhopper says:

I can’t see the video. I went to the site and none of the videos will play. Anyone else have this problem?

[Did you set NoScript to temporarily allow all on this page?]

  12. ECA says:

for those that think this is a FAST/short landing..
    I will remind you..
the ship is LIGHT..there isnt any cargo/passengers..

  13. A340-600 says:

Is that the new Boeing livery? I first saw it on the 747-8 and thought it looked better than the busy one on the other models. Not bad, but I think Airbus’ livery is nicer.

  14. sargasso_c says:

In my day at Farnborough it was normal for at least one Mig to crash and explode. The pilot ejecting seconds from impact, parachuting into a field and lighting a cigar.

  15. Awake says:

So aside from fuel efficiency and gimmicky pushbutton dimming windows, exactly how is this supposed to make my like better as a passenger?

It will still be slow to board and deplane, the seats will be just as cramped, the service will be just as surly. The delays will be just as bad, the bathrooms will probably require tokens for entry, and the guy sitting next to you will be just as fat and obnoxious.

Just another plane. At least it’s not like that ridiculous 700 passenger Airbus monster…

  16. JimD says:

I remember those Revell Plastic Plane Models I used to glue together – they always fell apart !

I hope the Dreamliner doesn’t suffer the same fate !

  17. TThor says:

    Another boring airplane…..

  18. billabong says:

    BFD

  19. KD Martin says:

Mark Cuban will probably buy one for the Mavericks so he can ride on it. I wonder what the custom interior would cost?

    I’d ride on that!
