The picture above is from an Eastern US chain I’ve never heard of called Friendly’s and is called the Grilled Cheese BurgerMelt. That’s right, it’s a burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Not long ago, KFC came out with their Double Down where they skip the bread and put bacon and cheese between two fried chicken slabs.
At least the Heart Attack Grill (where people over 350 lbs eat for free and the waitresses are dressed like nurses) is honest about what their food will do to you.
With the economy down, more restaurants seem to be experimenting with odd sandwiches and other foods to ensnare customers, often without regard to calorie or fat content. What new and unusual sandwich have you encountered that isn’t quite like your mom’s plain, old tuna on Wonder bread?
Just imagine the burger that will result from a merger between In-n-Out burger joints and Kum & Go convenience stores.
The In-n-Out Kum & Go burger. I shudder to think of it.
Not battered and deep fried…
Lame :p
I don’t want to think about my mom’s old tuna.
By the way, it’s “your mom’s,” not “you’re mom’s.” Have a little respect for the English language and learn the difference.
[Fixed. Cut my brain some slack. It doesn’t know how to spell when I post stuff before having my precious caffeine. –UD]
Friendly’s…….sandwiches are average. Noted for their ice cream. Choice of my grandkids for their birthday movie and lunch outing.
You neglected to mention that the waitresses at the Heart Attack Grill are dressed in Nurses uniforms. They look like they came from the photo shoot for Cheri or Hustler magazine and on their way to their 2nd job at Christie’s Cabaret (christiescabaret.com). So you have to add the view to the possible causes of your myocardial infarction.
Yes, I admit to having visited both businesses at least once…
Oh come on people. Most people only eat in restaurants occasionally. An occasional over-indulgence does not hurt anyone. Yes, some people eat only at restaurants and order stuff like this all the time. However, most people do not. I, for one, cannot afford to eat at a restaurant every day.
If you haven’t seen “This Is Why You Are Fat.com” — it’s appalling yet disturbingly appealing.
Check out this meat parfait from Porky’s BBQ.
I can’t stop myself! Check out this Peep Sushi!
sadly, eating good food is always more expensive than eating bad food.
Just looks like a burger with extra bread to me.
I remember Friendly’s restaurants growing up. They’re mostly famous for their higher-end ice cream. I never really liked the food. Man, my arteries are clogging just looking at that sandwich.
Friendly’s used to have a milk shake called the “Awful Awful.” Advertised as “Awful good, Awful delicious.”
Uh. Although I like some carnivore indulgence now and then I simply can’t imagine trying to feed my face with concoctions such as that…makes me nauseous just looking at it!
Must be the starving hunter-gatherer instinct gone bust.
There is no sandwich that compares to a Hot Pastrami on Rye.
Except maybe a Reuben.
Why do fat and sugar have to taste so good? Can’t we just drop the damn things and suddenly start enjoying cardboard Rye Vita crackers and artificially sweetened Jello (with that yummy chemical aftertaste)? I guess one just needs to develop a love for such things. It’s easy.
The party’s OVER!! Too bad…Get used to it, you lazy fat slackers…serves you right that you got so used to living in a wealthy Western society)
Case closed !bang!
(Now watch it happen to the Chinese…hee-hee)
RSweeney FTW
I don’t see how anyone can eat that at one sitting. Cripes I’m a 210 lb. weightlifter, I run 5 miles a day…. and I couldn’t eat a quarter of that thing.
What!!!? Never heard of friendly’s??? 🙁 good ice cream, anything else kinda so so…, Take note, Friendly’s has the best Banana Split ice cream. hhhmmmmm
with the one here want on the other side of town from me.. 🙁
There is no such thing as “bad food”, just bad eating habits. These places are just feeding the bad habit.
Good burgers are hard to find. Perhaps thats why people go to independent eateries in search of a non-corporate burger.
To me, the best burgers are made at home by far.
