And for you libs out there, be sure to bury your head in the sand cause everyone knows that all “pirates” come from Pittsburgh and don’t carry automatic weapons. After all, if you’re a good liberal then you already know this is a right-wing propaganda story.

I assume you’re talking about the Arizona laws. It’s the slippery slope argument dude – and the question of whether you’re assumed innocent or guilty. I can’t speak for the US but in Canada we screwed up when we put all Japanese in detention camps in WW2. You may think they are different cases but it is just simply a matter of degree.

You have to decide if limiting your own personal freedom is worth the price you pay. That’s the actual debate. That’s a far different question than spending the required money on policing and border protection.

So far it appears to be limited to the Mexican side of the lake. But for how long….

#4 the lame stream media doesn’t care about confirmed if the story plays to its bias so unconfirmed wouldn’t keep them from reporting it.

The lame stream media won’t report news that is confirmed that goes against its bias so you are kind of stuck there if you depend on the lame stream media.

Is this consistent with what we already know is happening along the border and in Arizona? Unfortunately yes. It would just be more of the same. That doesn’t make the story true or false.

In either event no matter which side of the issue you are on there is no need to fume. Obama and his cabinat can be counted on not do their jobs and protect the American citizens and visitors to that region.

Bottom line; just avoid the region. If you live there move out. The Federal government no longer regards it as being part of the United States nor are the American Citizens who live there regarded as being American Citizens with rights; bleep them.

If you approve of this sort of thing continue to support progressives. If you don’t vote the bums out. End of story.

One little problem about securing the Rio Grande south of the New Mexico border:

THE FREAKIN’ BORDER IS the Rio Grande, which has at least two good sized lakes along that border, plus the Big Bend National Park. Once you figure out how to secure that river without blocking off American access to the river entirely (and keeping in mind that law abiding Mexicans have legal access too), get back to us, won’tcha?

Here we go, repeating history again.

In the 1930’s Germany started requiring the “National Identity Card” primarily to manage the ‘illegal’ population.

In 1938 the ‘J-Stamp’ was added, requiring that all Jews have their documents stamped for easy identification.

Identification cards, in Rwanda, were a key factor in shaping, defining and perpetuating ethnic identity. Once the 1994 genocide in Rwanda began, an ID card with the designation “Tutsi” constituted a death sentence at any checkpoint. No other factor was more significant in facilitating the speed and carnage of the 100 days of mass killing in Rwanda.

I find it very confusing that the same people that are against gun permits and limiting the sale of guns to criminals and terrorists, are so quick to jump on “Yes, we need identity papers” bandwagon.

How long before we are all required to carry papers, and can be stopped at any time by the police for no reason with a “Show us your papers” command. And that is what the law in Arizona precisely does, it requires proof of identity on demand, from anyone at any time for any (or no) reason.

Our fathers and grandfathers and many of us fought exactly against this totalitarianism, yet we are now seeing the complete undoing of American values by a bunch of right wingers that have no clue where this is leading the country.

    – Juarez (pop 1.3 million) 2,660

    – Baghdad (pop 6.5 million) 1,545

Give me a citation for that. Arizona’s new law does not require proof of identity on demand, from anyone at any time for any reason.

Arizona’s new immigration law is essentially the same as Federal and California law.

If you are going to criticize something at least be try to be fair and do your research not just puke up talking points.

The law doesn’t allow for random ID checks.

fAtty: You are just dreaming if you think I and other true Americans are going to just roll over on this issue. I didn’t serve in the military, my father didn’t serve in the military, my Son didn’t serve in the military, just to sit around and let these illegal immigrants over-run our country and tell us what is legal and what isn’t. Take your racist BS back across whatever border you’re concerned with. This is not, nor was it ever, a racist issue. It is about preserving freedom, maintaining order, and providing our children with opportunity.

  23. Grandpa says:

jollycynic: It’s not allowing random ID checks. It’s allowing obvious violators to be sent back where they belong. ( I wish they would send the obvious employers there with them. )

  25. Awake says:

The law states that an officer engaged in a lawful stop, detention or arrest shall, when practicable, ask about a person’s legal status when reasonable suspicion exists that the person is in the U.S. illegally.

The problem is that anybody can be stopped lawfully with the slightest excuse. An arrest is not required. You can be “stopped” just because you look like somebody else, or are in a DUI driver screening roadblock, or you look like you “don’t belong”.

Piss away our freedoms you small minded “patriots”… you obviously do not understand what America is really all about. To your small minds it is about waving a flag and deporting the maid, while ignoring the real problems that are destroying the America that you claim to love.

What is the rule.. innocent until proven guilty… or is it guilty unless you can prove you are innocent?

OK, so you won’t pull the “I served therefore my opinion counts as more than your’s” argument. Great. That argument is always so lame.

You are just dreaming if you think I and other true Americans are going to just roll over on this issue.

So if someone has a different opinion does that disqualify them from being a “true American”? Hey! I agree, illegal immigrants should be sent back.

This is not, nor was it ever, a racist issue. It is about preserving freedom, maintaining order, and providing our children with opportunity.
In case you missed the story, this is a case of people entering Mexican waters and being robbed at gun point. It has nothing to do with whatever “American” values you might have nor does it include extending your or your childrens values into another country to do as you please.

But then, I actually watched the video so I have an idea of what the thread is about.

  29. jman says:

the Supreme Court ruled unanimously on the federal version that police do not, repeat: DO NOT need reasonable suspicion to pull you over and ask for your papers.
