A strange, strange man has been showing up on morning shows throughout the Midwest, claiming to be a yo-yo trick champion. He is not. He is actually terrible at yo-yo. Yet he keeps getting on the air. All we know is that K-Strass has shown up on television six times in the past month, showing off his yo-yo “skills” and generally embarrassing the hosts.

His latest appearance occurred Thursday morning on KQTV’s “Hometown This Morning,” in St. Joseph, Mo.

“He got us,” said Bridget Blevins, the station’s news director. “I hate that we got duped.”

And how good was he with the yo-yo, a skill Strasser has said made him a champion? “He did some really lame things. He hit himself in the face and the groin with his yo-yo,” Blevins said. Lisa Malak, who anchors the “Sunday Morning” show on WFRV in Green Bay, thought it would be fun to book somebody who said he was a yo-yo champion. When Strasser showed up April 11, he said he forgot the string for his yo-yo. With no tricks, Malak and Strasser spent their live TV segment talking.

“It was the most bizarre thing that has ever happened to me on the air,” Malak said.

Har…. Idiots!

    Andy Kaufman lives!!!!

Too bad the same kind of incompetency is not as evident when providing political/economic expertise? Such screening would result in a lot of dead air time to be filled by game shows, reality tv, and commercials. Could be a toss up.

[That’s the first thing that crossed my mind too! – ed.]

  2. Tony Clifton, International Singing Sensation says:

That Kaufman once again walks all over MY act. And Kaufman is a lying bastard! He is a psychopath! One day local stations throughout the Midwest will know this to be true.

  3. bobbo, are we Men of Science, or Devo? says:

Tony, I’ve always been happy that Andy didn’t take you with him. Where’s your next play date? Any new material? Fan site?

It’s Benjamin. The only thing missing is his gay lover.

  6. ray says:

yea uh, all of u who are comparing this to andy kaufman, uh yea, this is no where near the genius of andy. nuff said.

    still funny stuff tho.

  7. rfhigdon says:

Kinda reminds me of Sarah Palin

  8. jman says:

    or Obama

  9. bobbo, are we Men of Science, or Devo? says:

#6–Ray==Well, since I’m the only one who said it, I say BS–this is exactly what Andy would do. True, he might do it better in some way, I don’t know, because I didn’t have his take on things.

But what do you need?–A finish with him impersonating Elvis???

You have never seen a skit with Andy taking on yo-yo’s so you say it aint Andy. Real simple minded==just the kind of simpleton Andy would make fun of. Or Rather==Andy would make fun of both of us. Of Everything.

You do know yo-yo’s are a subset of everything?

    Good boy.

  10. Cap'nKangaroo says:

This makes you ponder what totally useless skill you might “champion” that would have a local TV station say “Don’t call us, we’ll call you.”?

  11. Animby says:

    # 6 ray said, “this is no where near the genius of andy.”

Hell, they could probably have gotten Tommy Smothers.

One wonders why the producer didn’t ask the guy to show what tricks he would be doing before the show? And, one wonders, is that producer now revising his resume? It’s a tough job market out there.

  12. McCullough says:

#9. Yes, Andy would have done this….good stuff.

  13. Tony Clifton, International Singing Sensation says:

All this Kaufman ejaculation is stinking up the place. Kaufman IS a yo-yo, punk yellow (hits women) yo-yo, jeez! No talent bum I tell you.

Me? I am an internationally famous Las Vegas lounge act with a long list of gigs (and babes I screwed – HaHa)that puts the so called comedian, yeah right, Andy Kaufman to shame. He got his start with me and I have regretted it ever since. A bag of shit on fire, on your porch!

    Ding-Dong!

  14. Muddauber says:

He may actually see himself as “a champion” and not feel he is deceiving anyone. I mean, if you’re going to deceive someone, would you not be attempting to make a lot of money as opposed to make a fool out of yourself? He’s going through a lot of trouble and I don’t think he’s just trying to put them on as a prank. He may be delusional as well as grandiose and see himself as a champion, hero, fighting for a great cause, model for children and others to look up to… yet, is none of those things. It sounds like he is a disaster whereever he goes, school, exhibition, TV, etc. He’s so bad at the yo-yo, that he even starts his kids program by just swinging the yo-yo around (which could actually be dangerous with a bunch of kids accidentally whacking each other right from the start), and then says that sometimes they never even get any farther than that because they are laughing so hard. Wow. The joke is that the News people didn’t get the billing right. He’s not the yo-yo champion. He IS the yo-yo. He’s a champion human yo-yo. And, in that regard, he is exactly as advertised!

  15. Maricopa says:

    # 13 Tony Clifton – All this Kaufman ejaculation is stinking up the place. Kaufman IS a yo-yo, punk yellow (hits women) yo-yo, jeez! No talent bum I tell you.

Actually, he’s quite dead and still more talented than your namesake.

  16. Tony Clifton, International Singing Sensation says:

    #14, Maricopa.
    Blow it out your Sheriff-hole.

  17. Winston says:

“He may actually see himself as “a champion” and not feel he is deceiving anyone.”

I agree. I don’t know if this is an Andy Kaufman wannabe or a guy who really needs to see a psychiatrist. I would hope that guests are interviewed before going on-air to filter out any obvious nutcases, so perhaps he doesn’t get nutty with his comments (like the Blue Angels one) until he’s on-air which would lean me toward the Andy Kaufman prank theory.

  18. bobbo, our economy is Mainstreet, Wallstreet is Organized Crime says:

To any who think: “The guy is real and just mentally ill.”====thats Andy Kauffman humor.

and if the guy is real and just sick===ITS STILL ANDY KAUFFMAN HUMOR!!!!!!!!!

    Thats the beauty part.

  19. Glenn E. says:

When did Yo-Yo skills become so newsworthy?! Can little Johnny spell? No. But be can throw a mean Yo-Yo. And that’s all that’s important. Stupid imbecilic news teams, deserve to get fooled. But I doubt that they’ll learn from it. They’re to fat and happy with being tools, of the power brokers.

  20. Geoff says:

Hilarious. As entertaining as people getting on the news claiming to be Police General Smith during a riot, and halfway through the newscast screaming “Baba booey baba booey baba booey!”

If journalists took pride in their profession this couldn’t happen. You’re all a bunch of no-talent ass-clowns, and bloggers are going to take over. I trust Drudge more than the idiots who invited K-Strass onto their air.

  21. handbag says:

That’s an embarrassing show who is pretending that he is the yo-yo champion… funny
