PHOENIX — Job hunters turned out in the hundreds to fill recently-vacant positions at Pro’s Ranch Market stores, where a federal audit led to the firing of some 300 workers.
Roxanne Nieves, one of the many that came out in search of a job, said she came to apply after she heard about the layoffs.
“We heard they are firing a lot of illegal people, so we’re here to apply,” she said.
Rep Luis Gutierrez has proposed a national biometric ID card.
However, only Arizona will be associated with Nazi ‘Your Papers Please’.

#31 I pointed this out at my party’s district convention. Some dumb woman wanted to make an amendment to the party platform that began, “All and every Republican candidate…” I pointed out that she should change the wording to “Each and every Republican candidate…” She said she would leave it how it is. Only she was entitled to change the wording of the amendment under the rules of the convention.
I got up spoke in opposition to the amendment because we had other platform planks that said that immigrants should be required to speak English and we would look stupid when we sent our platform to the state convention if we adopted this woman’s plank that had grammatically incorrect wording. In fact I made sure we rejected all three of this woman’s amendments because none of them made any sense.

NOT quite. The Farmers have ALWAYS had problems with wages, and AFTER THE CORPS took over 80% of farms. THEY KEPT IT THAT WAY.
Farm wages are $1 LESS then min wage. The FUN PART??? is that there are Other jobs, that have gone to COURT, to get farm wages, INCLUDING private Fish farms.

also, what many of you dont see.
The JOBS most are trying to get, ARE NOT FARM JOBS. Farm jobs are great for seasonal ONLY.
Farms are pretty Automated Anymore. It dont take a 1000 people on a farm. Most planting is totally automated. the fun is harvest, as there are a FEW crops that have to be picked by hand. Machines cant do it. MOST of those folks leave and go back to mexico.
THE SMART ONES, are looking/getting jobs that pay MORE then farm wages. Yes, they might group up and grad a couple seasonal jobs, but they JUMP on the FIRST job that ISNT seasonal.

Americans used to be able to make a living without a high school diploma, until minimum wage that is. People don’t understand simple economics. If you force businesses to pay their employees a higher wage, that is going to cause products and services to go up in price too, since increased cost is always passed on to the consumer. Therefore, you’re making more money, but everything costs more too. (Not to mention the unintended consequence that businesses have to cut the payroll with pink slips, since they can’t pay everyone less.) That’s called government created inflation. Now Americans are used to higher wages, and immigrants and used to no jobs at all. That means low end jobs look less attractive to Americans and more attractive to immigrants. And Americans are too happy to sit on their butts and collect unemployment rather than to go get a factory job or work at McDonald’s. If it weren’t for immigrants, we’d be on a fast track to a nonexistent economy!

Your precious democrats have done little to stop the repug agenda, and, in fact, have caused more problems because even the well-intentioned legislation always has unintended ramifications. (For example, minimum wage).
Employing immigrants isn’t the reason there are no jobs in America. Exporting jobs overseas is the main culprit. Why are they being exported? Look to the heavy taxation on businesses, add to that minimum wage laws, stifling regulations and the close ties between the white house and wall street, and you have a recipe for less jobs and economic struggle. We should be praising business owners, and telling the government to get out of the economy. If it weren’t for business owners, all you none business owners wouldn’t have a job, except for you government employee scum of the earth, who are paid with stolen money. Government doesn’t produce anything, it only leeches. Only in the free market will you have businesses competing with each other for employees and consumers, employees competing for jobs and consumers getting the lowest price for the best service/product. If it weren’t for government interference, we’d have immigrants coming to do low end jobs, while lots of high end jobs would still be around for all the local folk.

Hmmm, when I was born here I don’t remember anyone giving me an English proficiency test…
If we make English an official language are we going to kick the Amish ou?. What about Native Americans? What about deaf and blind people? Should we outlaw braille? Before WWII there were a lot of communities where German was the main language and people didn’t threaten to kick them out.
If the biggest problem you have in your life is deciding whether to push 1 for English or 2 for Spanish then you have a pretty nice life.
If there are people in the USA who don’t want to learn English that is their choice.

You can’t take his comment seriously. If anything it is a form of racism. Stopping people because they don’t speak “English.” If I weren’t upset I laugh but I’m upset and sick by the comment.
Obviously there is a severe lack of understanding US history here. I don’t even want to point out more issues that WOULD come about if that came the case. But lastly, I think we want people here to speak American as English is elsewhere in the world.

Well if this is going to turn into a discussion about economics. I believe the US being the world’s Policeman (or Mercenary) is an awful drain on the economy. The nation’s defense budget is one of the biggest items, that only manages to get bigger each year. And printing more money, that is collected by taxing, to pay for it. Keeps reducing the value of the nation currency. And thus raises prices for everything, thru inflation. But it’s the defense industry, in the US, that refuses and resists any kind of belt tightening. Or budget cutting. So sooner is it tried, another excuse to fight a war somewhere is manufactured. Like Iraq, and now Afghanistan. Before those, we had Somalia. Remember the “peace dividend” the US was suppose to get by pulling troops out of eastern Europe? It got spent pretty fast.
As long as the US devotes so much of its GDP to fighting wars, and protecting the rest of the world. It’s doomed to end up like Russia. With it’s economic collapse, the result of runaway military spending. Soldiering and weapons making, is just about the only jobs the US doesn’t outsource to other countries. And that’s by law. But the return on the monetary investment, isn’t good. War is not a positive and productive venture.
Except if you’re one of the lucky rich bastards who run the defense corporations. Or who are of the high ranking military, who stand to be employed by them, after retiring. That includes ex-astronauts, who become aerospace VPs. Eisenhower warned us, in his speech, before leaving office. But it’s not been heeded much, all this time. I’m sure it will finally be heeded, once there is no more economy left.

You forgot to mention drones killing people in Pakistan. Or has that campaign ended? Don’t hear much about it in the lamestream news…

I think if I can practically strip to ride a plane, I can and will happily furnish proof of citizenship. Anyone got a better solution to the problem? It won’t go away by ignoring it.

The solution is easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy. It might offend your sensitivities though. LEGALIZE DRUGS. Remember alcohol prohibition and Al Capone and bootleggers and moon shine? Remember when it was repealed, and all that went away? Mexican drug cartels will go away if they aren’t funded by the illicit sale of drugs, which drives the price up and funds their guns/wars. If legalized, the price for drugs will drop, and it will no longer need to be smuggled and sold on the street.
