Waterboard her to find out which members of Al Qaeda was she working with! Then lock her up and throw away the key, assuming the death penalty is off the table. That’s the only way to protect society from this menace.

A 13-year-old girl was suspended from school after she was accused of threatening her teacher. Her family says it’s a misunderstanding under a zero tolerance policy. Bleyl Middle School student Taylor Trostle and her parents say it’s a classroom game that got her kicked out of school, and now has her labeled as a “terrorist.”

“I was shocked because it just seems ludicrous and appalling,” Bleyl Middle School student Taylor Trostle’s mother, Kristin Trostle, said.
[…]
Taylor was wearing an NYPD shirt at school. She says in the last moments of math class, she and some friends were pretending to be police officers. “I was shooting the markers at the front of the board,” Taylor Trostle said. “It was just like this and I was like ‘pow pow’ and then she just turned around.”

Taylor was sent to the principal’s office and immediately suspended for three days. Her write up says the finger gun was pointed in the teacher’s direction. “That was considered a terroristic threat because the teacher feared for her life,” Kristin Trostle said. […] Any threat to a teacher falls under a ‘zero tolerance policy.’

“Now she’s got a very serious mark on her record and she’s labeled,” Kristin Trostle said.
[…]
“They all say that I’m gonna kill somebody, and…they know that I wouldn’t do that,” [Taylor] said.

  1. bobbo, lets just nip this in the bud says:

Imagine if she had pantomimed a bomb?

  2. Benjamin says:

Children with handguns, hmmm. A gun safety course would teach her not to point her handgun (a gun made with the hand) at people. Oh wait: she was pretending to be a police officer. She should have pretended to tase the teacher after handcuffing her.

  3. stopher2475 says:

How do we know she wasn’t just giving her the “thumbs up”. =)

  4. Mr. Glum says:

We had more manly teachers when I was a kid. And that was the women!

  5. Phydeau says:

What a pathetic society we’re devolving into. The terrorists have won. We’re thoroughly terrorized.

  6. Dan says:

More evidence that a “zero tolerance policy” equals a “zero thinking policy”.

  7. Nobody says:

So if the kid said “I find your lack of faith disturbing” would the teacher have fallen to the ground choking?

  8. Improbus says:

When I was in high school everyone I know had a rifle in their vehicle (I grew up in rural Kansas) ON SCHOOL PROPERTY. My, how times have changed.

  9. Nobody says:

    Simple solution:

1, Mom calls local news station.
2, Says kid’s favorite T-shirt is NYPD because he/she/it wants to be a cop because they always admired how cops represent Merika, apple-pie etc (cue stirring patriotic music)
3, Say teacher/principle is drug supporting liberal cop hating hippy.
4, Get few cops along to give the kid a ride in police car etc
(note to PR – pick ethnically diverse young good looking cops for this – not donut munching)
5, Ambush interview of principle carefully editing together all their no-comments.

  10. GigG says:

This story has nothing to do with terrorism. What it has to do with is the progressive created zero tolerance policies of the schools.

  11. amodedoma says:

This is the result of the corruption of the american family and the restrictions to a schools ability to impose sanctions and enforce respect.

  12. LotsaLuck says:

Thank Columbine and other school shootings.

Administrations pay very little (in embarrassment) for erring on the side of caution.

The cost of being wrong are too high.

  13. Angus says:

Another example of the insane right wing scare tactics and idiotic rules that the Bush administration is subjecting us to.

At least that’s how it would be spun if he was still in office.

  14. Uncle Dave says:

#13: How about this: It’s the never-ending legacy of Bush’s policies that led to this BS.

And video games. Gotta blame it on those damn, violent video games at some point.

  15. Dallas says:

#14 Much much better. Also true.

  16. Sea Lawyer says:

Let’s get back to more important school topics like making sure that teacher tenure is protected regardless of the quality of the education delivered.

  17. Skeptic of the AOBCCS says:

Neither Bush or Obama make stupid people. Stupidity is self taught. What is most disturbing, stupidity of that magnitude has found it’s way into the school system.

Shame on you, Bleyl Middle School!

The only way this has anything to do with terrorism…. it’s just another opportunity for stupid people to act out their stupidly.

  18. atmusky says:

#8 – I will do you one better when my father was in school they had a rifle club with a shooting range in the school basement.

    Zero tolerance = 100% stupidity

#12 – There was no violence involved and if the child had violent tendencies sending her home for three days would do nothing but increase the chances of actual violence happening.

Zero tolerance is not about and does not prevent violence. Zero tolerance has replaced actual discipline because of a minority of ding-bat parents who have caused to much litigation.

  19. yankinwaoz says:

I am amazed on how the word “Terrorist” gets thrown around so easily. Just like the word “Sex Offender” get used whenever there is exposure of breast of genitalia (like to pee behind a trash bin) as mentioned on No Agenda.

I always thought that terrorist were non-government parties who uses violence to achieve political objectives.

This case, at worst, is a criminal offense, not terrorism. A mugger or kidnapper uses the threat of death or harm to rob their victims of valuables. That does not make them a terrorist.

  20. Dick C says:

I’m betting she will confess to being Al qaeda with the right questioning techniques.

  21. Buzz says:

I think this all pivots around whether or not her finger was loaded.

  23. clancys_daddy says:

What goes beyond the concept of stupidity? Moronity? Imbecility? I mean pointing a finger? come f’ing on.

  24. Sai Kai Lee says:

“The teacher feared for her life…”

Really, she worried that the finger might be loaded? Back when I was in school, I used to stick cactus needles into the weave of the fabric on the teacher’s chair – Glad I’m not in school any more.

DEVO was right, people are devolving into potatos! (or was that potatoes? ha ha)

    SKL

  25. Omar R. says:

    Step 1. label subject ‘behavior(x)’.
Step 2. observe as subject conforms to ‘behavior(x)’.

    Basic Psych 101

I would put it thusly: If you’re gonna do the time, might as well do the crime.

This teacher wouldn’t make it through the day in the school I graduated from. The students would have eaten him/her alive…

This teacher would not have made it through the day in the school I graduated from. The principal would have chastised the teacher for instigating a riot.
If not, then students would have eaten him/her alive…

  27. akallio says:

“That was considered a terroristic threat because the teacher feared for her life”

Seriously, if a teacher is so psychotic that she thinks a 13-year-old can kill her by pointing a finger, all the children are in danger.

  28. clancys_daddy says:

OK I just watched the trailer for Losers. I guess it was logical for the teacher to fear for her life, cause the guys fingers were lethal weapons. I wasn’t sure it was real, so I watched the end of Crank and that guy had loaded fingers to. I think I will go to bed now.

  29. Animby says:

Teacher should be very careful how she treasts this class from now on. Imagine. “What is the square root of nine?” She points to a class member. The entire class screams and runs from the room while several cell phones simultaneously dial 911. Teacher loses job, goes to prison for terrorism.

Unless she has tenure, of course.

  30. Uncle Patso says:

    ZOTZ!

The only solution is to ban fingers in the classroom — mittens for everyone!
