It works with dogs, too.

For those who enjoy the company of four-legged friends, the F80EXR has Pet Detection, allowing users the ability to detect up to 10 faces of dogs or cats and automatically optimize the focus. The F80EXR is programmed to recognize 57% of the Fédération Cyno Logique Internationale (FCI) Registered Dogs, 80% of the Top 20 Dogs in the American Kennel Club (AKC) Ranking and 60% of The Cat Fancier’s Association (CFA) breeds1. Pet Detection works by matching various dog or cat data of facial parts with patterns to detect the dog or cat being photographed.

Fuji now also makes a 3D camera, so it has two sensors, two lenses, and the display is 3D. And they shoot stereo video. However the angle between the cameras doesn’t seem to change based on the depth of the subject.

But I prefer the Sigma cameras, because they produce the sharpest images.

Sounds great to me, I imagine it automatically tags the recognition info to the photo file. People who take a lot of family photos all have the challenge of organizing large numbers of files that have little or no info and need to be organized visually one by one. This could automate the process to an amazing degree. Excellent application of available technology.

They’re weren’t that great when I read reviews on them a while back.

Nice…i wonder if anyone who uses these cameras knows what depth of field is and how the effect works.

while all these new automated features on cameras are handy. they further dumb down an already technologically brain-dead populace.

Being “Technical-savvy” has been re-defined to mean you understand and know how to wade through menus upon menus to achieve desired result, match color coded wires and know what button to push.

It will be extremely amusing to watch the current generation adapt should the “switch” be flipped on all our electronic toys and the internet for a “long while”

It just sniff the air for a fish smell which is very prevalent in women that have to pull their panties down to their ankles before it snaps away from the crotch.

Not surprised that there are so few comments regarding this story. I know of no Mac-faithful that would be interested in anything related to a pussy.

how about just recording a few seconds of audio with the picture. “this is Uncle Jake and his current girlfriend Bambi, or is it Amber?”

I bought a Sony DSC-TX7 (yeah its not the camera in the article, but thats not the point), and I assure you that the features don’t dumb down anybody. Many do things that are simply not possible without alot of work and equipment. The panorama mode is amazing, considering my first digital camera (Kodak DC4800) came with panorama software that never worked even after hours of computer processing and retaking photos.

Likewise the Hand-held twilight mode lets me take shots I can’t take with my Canon DSLR, by taking multiple successive photos and adusting the contrast and dynamic range without the use of flash. (Similar to HDR photography.) I’ve taken good pictures in caves and submarines without the problems of trying to use a flash in an otherwise dark area. Flash photos in these situations wash out subtle colors and ruin the effect of the ambient lighting. I could probably do something similar with my Canon and Photoshop, but why? I can spend my time with my family, not in front of a screen.

Oh yeah, it also shoots 1080i HD video at 60fps. I’ve pretty much stopped using my recently-purchased Canon Vixia HG21 except when I need more than 4x zoom.

Its a great little camera. Not cheap, but I highly recommend it.
