“Change you can count on!” I bet a lot of people didn’t realize he meant that you’d be out of work and have plenty of time to count what’s left of the change in your pocket.

  1. Dallas says:

Being black, Obama is held to a higher standard and he accepts that.

The questionable grading above shows he’s scoring a 97% (A+ ). I had no idea it was that impressively high.

In terms of joblessness, he was pretty clear that things would get much worse before they get better. He was right.

Now that he prevented what was looking like a GOP induced worldwide depression, the agenda for 2010 is a job recovery.

He would have started on that earlier but was battling the GOP road kill on capital hill slowing down healthcare reform.

  2. Benjamin says:

No. He is making it worse. It will be much harder to find a job due to this health care thing. Just wait until cap and trade and immigration amnesty is passed and then it will be impossible to find a job. Obama is doing more to harm this economy than to help it.

Also, why hasn’t Obama been added into the built in spell check in Firefox by this time?

  3. Dallas says:

#2 Why much harder? The “heath care thing” is the single biggest burden on employers as it is rising at a rate both parties agree is unacceptable and needs reform.

Cherry picking Catapillar (who provides healthcare to less than half it’s workforce) is a copout.

    Cap and trade..
You mean the cap and trade that Bush implemented for acid rain? I think you mean the carbon CnT.
It’s not perfect but how does one control unbridled polluting the environment Do you have a better alternative? The honor system doesn’t count. Google “Love Canal: to see how well that worked out.

  4. LotsaLuck says:

#1 – “Now that he prevented what was looking like a GOP induced worldwide depression, the agenda for 2010 is a job recovery….”

Not sure the blame for the recession has ever been independently attributed to either party.

Best I could see, both sides had their fingers in it. And it seemed to be the real estate bubble popping that set the whole thing off. Who’s to blame for that?

I’m as partisan as you (mirror image-wise), but I’m willing to put a pox on BOTH houses. If you have evidence that one party alone is culpable, please provide details.

  5. Proud Alien says:

#2 It always amazes me how irrational some people are. Just like GW was the bestest to some no matter how bad he actually screwed up, Obama appears to be no good to the same crowd. The funniest thing, though, is that those exact idiots were hurt the most under GW and will benefit the most as well.

  6. jbenson2 says:

    “Cherry picking Catapillar [sic]”

Let’s see now – how many other corporations can we cherrypick.

For starters – besides Caterpillar’s $100 million, add in
    John Deer’s $100 million,
    AT&T’s $1 billion,
    Prudential Financial’s $100 million,
    Illinois Tool Work’s $22 million,
    Boeing’s $150 million,
    Goodrich Corp’s $10 million,

Pretty soon you’re talking real money.

Hey Dallas, do you think this just might have something to do with the reason companies are nervous about hiring additional workers? Try to be honest for a change and drop the B-D-S.

  7. jbenson2 says:

The Obameter seems to be missing a few obvious Obama promises.

For instance, remember this promise that Obama made countless times:

“As I’ve said from the beginning, under the reform we seek, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your private health insurance plan, you can keep your plan. Period.”

  8. Proud Alien says:

#6 Are the US and its businesses so dumb to deal with the modern health care system? After all, the foreign corporations do just fine: they thrive and compete with no problems.

#7 And how exactly was that promise broken?

  9. bobbo, we think with words says:

I love how certain memes are carried along: “(changes to healthcare by Obama are) the reason companies are nervous about hiring additional workers.” //// Tell me another one before I go to sleep.

Its right up there with: “I bought this here gun in case America is invaded and needs protection.”

  10. Skeptic of the Anthropogenic Orgasm Between Consenting Climate Scientists says:

re: jbenson2, “As I’ve said from the beginning, under the reform we seek, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your private health insurance plan, you can keep your plan. Period.”

And he kept those promises… or did I miss something?

  11. Howard Beal says:

He is doing well, so far has kept more promises and broken fewer than many Presidents. For the most part he is governing as expected by those of us who gave him our vote. Sure I’m disappointed in a few things but any realest would not expect to be pleased all the time with an elected leader.

So far he has been the best President since Eisenhower, lets hope he keeps it up. All you Right-Wingers just be glad he is governing from the center and not the extreme left your media would have you believe.

  12. bobbo, we emote with odd imagery says:

#11–Hey Pedro==you are a constant kneejerk. What do you consider your “growth” areas? Would having numb nuts be a stretch goal for yourself???

Note Angel above actually said something positive. That boy is growing as a person.

  13. Micromike says:

I think your score cared is incredibly generous. As far as I’m concerned he lied about everything and has not kept a single promise. The only two I cared about were ending the wars and keeping wall street out of the cabinet, and both were early casualties of his lie packed administration. I voted for this guy and he acts more like an Uncle Tom who doesn’t want to make waves than a leader of a changing nation. How about some change that does some good, because simply believing isn’t enough!!!

  14. bobbo, we emote with odd imagery says:

#14–teensyweesymickey==you make Pedro look good. “He lied about everything.”==if true, would make Obama a unique person. Even BushtheRetard did not lie about everything==although I think Dick Chaney does come awful close. But why do YOU lie so transparently? Obama said he would pull out of Iraq and focus on Afghanistan. Sadly, he was not lying. I actually assumed he would pull out of Iraq faster than he is and that the Afghanistant issue was just a ploy to protect himself from right wing extremist nutjobs like yourself. But he said “the real war is in Afghanistant” and he is acting just as if it was.

There is enough to criticize Obama about ((from his left)) without nutjobs like yourself making shit up.

PS–I guess Angel said something positive on a different thread.

  15. McCullough says:

#2. “Also, why hasn’t Obama been added into the built in spell check in Firefox by this time?”

Funny, when I type in Barack Obama, my spell check comes back with Barry Soetoro.

    That is certainly a “change”.

  16. ObamaLoverGirl says:

    Lets see:
    102 Promises kept
    (85+17=102) Promises Broken or Stalled.

50/50 – therefore he is not doing such a great drop. I stopped drinking the Obama Cool-aid a year ago!

  17. Mark Ashton says:

Your snarky caption to this is disengenous at best. Do you honestly think that somehow contributed to the state of the economy right now? Let’s remember, he took over about 18 months ago when the economy was already in the toilet – the result of eight years of bad management by GW with a lot of help from the lousy congress. Obama should be held accountable for how things turn out in another 3 years but he didnt’ cause the current mess.

  18. Marc Perkel says:

Looks pretty good to me for the first year.

  19. bobbo, we emote with odd imagery says:

How to spot the “Fake Oboma Supporter”: “I stopped drinking the Obama Cool-aid a year ago!” /// Something tells me Benji got his sister interested in blogging.

  20. EvilPoliticians says:

I am not an Obama fan. Wasn’t a Bush fan either (going back to the 2000 primaries). But saying Obama isn’t doing enough for jobs is a little off.

Yes health care was disappointingly his top priority. But really, what can he and the rest of government effectively do? There is no legislation that can create sustainable jobs instantly. But listen to politicians and they will certainly make that promise.

Government needs to create the environment for free markets to grow. Of course it cannot be laissez faire. But they must stop spending like addicted gamblers.

Somewhat related, anyone notice how many of the new jobs created in the latest report included tens of thousands census workers?

Oh good grief!! This lying sack of teleprompting effluence has lied again and again. We’re still at war. Gitmo lives. Trillions of dollars down the drain for no gain. Unprecedented inflation is around the corner. A health care bill that over 70% of Americans don’t want.

Eisenhower was a General in WWII. Hussein Obama couldn’t fill Eisenhower’s shoes.

  22. bobbo, we emote with odd imagery says:

Ha, ha. Hey Bubba. Its good to see your juices flowing. It interesting that when someone posts within their area of expertise, especially an area of hard science, that the “personality factors” really don’t get expressed.

So, what do you think of the new spring fashions?

  23. Howard Beal says:

    #23
    “teleprompting”
They all use them, he is just so much better at it them. Bush was just so bad at using one you might have forgotten that.(no teleprompter for the healthcare summit where the GOP was waxed royal.
I would put Obama up against any politician or media type on the Right in a televised debate with no notes or teleprompter (just thinking on your feet) who you got(oh please let it be Beck or Rush)

    “We’re still at war.”
Yep he is getting out of Iraq at the fastest speed the Generals think is wise(sorry hawks) and he dubbed down on Afganastain just like he said he would.

    “Gitmo lives.”
Still working on that one, big mess I’ll let him have until November 4th, 2014

“Trillions of dollars down the drain for no gain.”

Unless you count stopping a global economic meltdown.

“Unprecedented inflation is around the corner.”

I don’t think the sky is falling but enjoy your fear. Buy more bullets and caned goods.

“A health care bill that over 70% of Americans don’t want.”
not so, statistics are like holy books you can find make them say what ever you want its all about choosing the right page.
Mine say over 50% think it’s at least good first step.
Your’s probably includes people like me who wanted a public option and did not think it went far enough.

Eisenhower was a General in WWII.
yup and our last good Conservative President
    “Obama couldn’t shine his shoes.”
Of course not he wasn’t born until 1962. Ike left office in 61 you silly man. Eisenhower sure would not have invaded Iraq.

  24. jescott418 says:

Come on, this is typical government inaction.
We should not be surprised by the lack of action. Anyone who thought Obama would be different was a totally idiot. They live in Utopia and never was involved with politics until they voted for Obama. We really should have seen this coming.

  25. bobbo, we emote with odd imagery says:

#25–Mr Beal==because you post so reasonably and with such uncommon good sense, I must make comment.

The issue is: ““Unprecedented inflation is around the corner.”

    and your response was:

“I don’t think the sky is falling but enjoy your fear. Buy more bullets and caned goods.”

//// Close to unprecedented or not, or unprecedented for the last 100 years, don’t you see monetary inflation as unavoidable given our current situation and the decreasing ability to work ourselves out of it any other way? The only other way being a massive reversal of balance of payments: energy, other trade goods, services.

The sky may never fall but that doesn’t invalidate the concern.

Of course, I post because I have the same concern, as any reasonable person should. Why don’t you?

    >> “As I’ve said from the beginning, under the reform we seek, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your private health insurance plan, you can keep your plan. Period.”

He delivered on this goal. In fact, you have MORE control over your doctor on this plan than you do now.

Are you one of those low-information voters who keep holding America back?

As far as I’m concerned, “Micromike” is embezzling from the Al Queda sleeper cell he sells crack for, and he hates puppies.

(It’s kind of fun to be like a conservative and just say anything without any attempt at factual back-up.)

  28. Howard Beal says:

bobbo#27 sorry about the dyslexic typing up there

lived through the 70s its when i entered the job market
seen it all before. yes a small bit of dbl digit inflation back then not the end of the world just a piper being paid.

we will muddle through and survive just fine. lets hope we are smart enough to keep the regulations on the banks this time

in the chicken little story foxy loxy was the villain seems like Fox is going to be the villain here too.

  29. Uncle Patso says:

    Bobbo & Howard Beal:
“The issue is: ‘Unprecedented inflation is around the corner.’ ”

This _is_ worrisome. I consider inflation to be theft by big borrowers from the common wealth and it hits the poor the worst. And I have been amazed that it hasn’t hit yet, other than the price of food & many consumer goods almost doubling a few years back when gas hit $4 per gallon. Amazingly, that actually subsided when gas went back down! I can only conclude that the tug of war between inflation and deflation is currently being dominated by real estate, which is still largely “under water.” Since the market for really big ticket items like real estate rarely changes quickly, it may actually be possible for the economy to turn around slowly enough that we may escape double-digit inflation. I hope so.

But I gotta tell ya, I’ll take inflation any day over joblessness. Being unemployed sucks donkey balls.

That said, I think the Obama-meter is a good idea; every president should have one! If it’s done by a sufficiently neutral non-partisan group. I don’t know a lot about Politico, but it seems to be a respected organization.

  30. Micromike says:

Well Bobbo if you want to spend your life defending a lying fucking politician help yourself.

The rest of you who call me a nutball should know I voted for this Uncle Tom son of a bitch so I’m not any crazier than you are, but obviously, I used to be just as gullible. Grow up, he’s a politician, of course he lies.

I repeat my biggest criticism is that he is a War monger who promised to end the war and won’t do it. That is true and undeniable.
