To add to the video of a Congressman saying that he “doesn’t worry about the Constitution”, this one says that he’s afraid Guam will tip over if it overpopulates:

  1. Skeptic of the Anthropogenic Orgasm Between Consenting Climate Scientists says:

    It was a joke.

  2. Me says:

#2 – It wasn’t a joke. He actually believed it when said it. He is heavily medicated due to illness.

  3. Jon says:

I would like to say that the congressman is using an absurdity to illustrate a point about adding 25,000 people to a small island but I am not sure that he has the synaptic ability to make such satire.

  4. Benjamin says:

It is close to April Fools. Still anyone should know that islands do not tip over. They go all the way down to the ocean floor. As they go down they spread out.

  5. RSweeney says:

I would submit that anyone medicated enough or ill enough, or potentially, ignorant enough, to believe that islands can capsize due to top heaviness is incapable of making reasoned decisions for the US people in Congress.

    He needs to resign.

  6. Bob says:

This is the man who took over Cynthia McKinney’s old district. They have a long history their of electing complete and total idiots to represent them.

The worse part is, that this admiral had to sit their and take questions, and treat them seriously about navy movements from someone who doesn’t even have a high school understanding of how islands are made.

  7. Dallas says:

Wow. He is right up there with Miss Universe contestants. Sheesh.

#4 Thanks for the geology lesson. Glad to see islands can’t tip over.

    I think I need a drink today.

  8. Benjamin says:

I had to use the geology lesson because some people on this blog believe everything liberals say.

#7 Dallas said, “#4 Thanks for the geology lesson. Glad to see islands can’t tip over. “

  9. Skeptic of the Anthropogenic Orgasm Between Consenting Climate Scientists says:

Some of you are so unbelievably gullible that I wonder more about you than Hank Johnson. You don’t get as far as he has in a career by being dumb as a rock. None of his other questions were stupid, so a normal person would assume he was making a joke or an analogy with that kind of statement. It’s incredible he has to explain himself to the dumb sheeple of YouTube.

The general line of his questioning was around the ecosystem of Guam and it coastal areas. This is his explanation that I doubt those who fell for the clip bothered to look up.

“I wasn’t suggesting that the island of Guam would literally tip over,” he said. He clarified that he was “using a metaphor” to describe how adding [so many] military personnel to the island could be a tipping point which could adversely affect the island’s fragile ecosystem and could overburden its stressed infrastructure.”

  10. AlanB says:

“They have a long history their of electing complete and total idiots […] The worse part is…” said Bob (#6)

“LOL double fail” said AlanB (#10)

  11. bobbo, we emote with odd imagery says:

But islands tipping over is dramatic imagery.

Ok—raise your hands===who thinks he was speaking literally?

For all you going along with Hank Johnson–I think you prove that double stupid is very difficult to pull off.

  12. Benjamin says:

#9 If a Republican said it, you wouldn’t be making those excuses. You would say he was dumb. I guess there is a different standards for how they treat gays and idiot statements depending if you are a Democrat or a Republican politician.

  13. bobbo, we emote with odd imagery says:

    #12–Benji, Benji, Benji.

  14. Benjamin says:

#13 Tell me I am wrong there. You can’t, because I am right.

  15. wirelessg says:

Here is the truth: This was a stupid statement (with flipping over hand gesture) said and caught on tape by a otherwise honorable man perhaps under medication followed up by the ‘metaphor’ cover story which is 100% Prime Bullsh*^!!

  16. bobbo, we emote with odd imagery says:

Benji–how many people do you think actually think “an island can tip over?”

Futher, if you RTFA (or wherever it is posted) the guy even says he was speaking metaphorically. You do know what a metaphor is???

It was posted here on a thread recently that a social psychotic could not understand sarcasm that was clear to everyone else.

You aren’t psychotic are you Benji? HEY BENJI!!!! OVER HERE.

The whole issue here is retarded. I’m embarrassed.

  17. Skeptic of the Anthropogenic Orgasm Between Consenting Climate Scientists says:

Re: #12, Benjamin: “If a Republican said it, you wouldn’t be making those excuses.”

Why should I care? I’m A Canadian, and as such am not influenced by Democrats or Republicans. In fact, the whole lot of you need to brush up on how to run a circus properly. EH?

  18. Steve says:

Assuming that the seven mile “smallest location” would be the fulcrum of this island lever system, it stands to reason that by thoughtful population relocation, keeping fat people near the “smallest location” on alert in the event of multiple child-births out on the far ends, a safe balance can be achieved. I don’t know why the Admiral didn’t explain this.

  19. Cap'nKangaroo says:

#17 How’s that Quebec thing going, eh?

  20. Animby - Sarcasm Available Upon Request says:

    # 16 bobbo, “the guy even says he was speaking metaphorically. You do know what a metaphor is???”

Well, maybe I need to listen to the vid again but I heard no metaphor. A metaphor is when you compare something to something very different. If you overpopulate an island so much that it might capsize might pass the test for hyperbole but certainly not for metaphor.

And whatever he “meant” in retrospect, it certainly sounded like he was being sincere. And if he was so severely medicated that he couldn’t think straight, why did his staff allow him to attend the hearing? I guess Harry Reid has mad it okay to appear in Congress “medicated” to the gills.

Kudos to the poor Naval officer for his diplomatic demeanor in the face of abject stupidity.

  21. UncDon says:

    #5:

    You got that right!

  22. themojoman says:

He’s just STUPID. Look where he was elected. Now can you understand what the CONGRESSMEN that are normal have to deal with.

  23. Tyrant says:

    @wirelessg
“Here is the truth: This was a stupid statement (with flipping over hand gesture) said and caught on tape by a otherwise honorable man perhaps under medication followed up by the ‘metaphor’ cover story which is 100% Prime Bullsh*^!!”

Honorable? Let’s not forget that he said Wilson’s outburst during Obama’s speech last year was racist and would lead to more racism.

  24. gquaglia says:

Just goes to show you any idiot can be a congressman.

  25. Serapheem says:

I think he is watching too much Lost

  26. Dallas says:

I think he was a bit too dramatic.

He should have said something more believable like ” adding too many people may disturb the ocean waters in a way that might part the seas”

  27. don quixote says:

Each and every one of you commenter’s are absolutely right. I’m so proud to read from such a knowledgeable group.

But then, Guam could be just a rolling rock in the pacific, what if he is right? Now that is almost as scary as him being stupid and helping create the laws we live by.

  28. bobbo, riding the ass of the law says:

#20–Animby==”I was speaking metaphorically” was not on the posted video but rather in other videos as a followup answer to a reporter.

anything can be linked/metaphored to anything else. Just a question of intelligence and imagination. As a doc, I assume its the imagination you lack?

Imagine an island in the ocean is like a plate balanced on the edge of a table. Imagine further that the number of military people on the island is like the number of peas on that plate. If too many of the peas are placed over the edge of the table—then boom goes the dynamite.

Hope that clears the fog and connects the dots in your cluttered repository of stored imagery.

  29. Brock says:

If you watch the entire exchange, it’s clear he is a total and complete idiot.

He can have his fan boys trying to explain away his stupidity, but that only makes them appear lame.

He clearly is a reason to give IQ tests to anyone who runs for national office. An IQ of 90 should be the minimum.

Given this test, I suggest Maxine Waters, Greg Meeks, Charlie Rangel, Joe Biden, and Patrick Kenneday would all fail.

  30. bobbo, riding the ass of out of touch elites says:

I watched the video again. Yea, I gotta admit he doesn’t “sound like” he is making a clever metaphor. If he is, he’s playing 3D Chess to my simple checkers.
