![]() “The Devil made ‘em do it!” |
Sex abuse scandals in the Roman Catholic Church are proof that that “the Devil is at work inside the Vatican”, according to the Holy See’s chief exorcist.
Father Gabriele Amorth, 85, who has been the Vatican’s chief exorcist for 25 years and says he has dealt with 70,000 cases of demonic possession, said that the consequences of satanic infiltration included power struggles at the Vatican as well as “cardinals who do not believe in Jesus, and bishops who are linked to the Demon”.
He added: “When one speaks of ‘the smoke of Satan’ [a phrase coined by Pope Paul VI in 1972] in the holy rooms, it is all true – including these latest stories of violence and paedophilia…”
Father Amorth told La Repubblica that the devil was “pure spirit, invisible. But he manifests himself with blasphemies and afflictions in the person he possesses. He can remain hidden, or speak in different languages, transform himself or appear to be agreeable. At times he makes fun of me.”
He said it sometimes took six or seven of his assistants to to hold down a possessed person. Those possessed often yelled and screamed and spat out nails or pieces of glass, which he kept in a bag. “Anything can come out of their mouths – finger-length pieces of iron, but also rose petals.”
He said that hoped every diocese would eventually have a resident exorcist…
He’s also head of the Exorcist’s Union. I’d love to listen in on contract negotiations with the Pope.
Your Momma SEWS SOCKS THAT SMELL!
Ha ha ha! Don’t go blaming me!
At times he makes fun of me.
I don’t know why, but for some reason that line made me laugh.
Those possessed often yelled and screamed and spat out nails or pieces of glass, which he kept in a bag. “Anything can come out of their mouths – finger-length pieces of iron, but also rose petals.”
This is more serious an issue than I thought. Imagine if terrorists had this capability. I applaud the good work these exorcists do.
Does anyone know why these pieces are kept in a bag? Can they be recycled?
This is what happens to people who claim to follow the Bible but stop reading it. The Bible expressly warns against some of the Catholic teachings that brought things to this point (e.g., teaching of demons and forbidding marriage).
http://www.esvstudybible.org/search?q=1+Tim+4+1-3
“Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.”
Sinners always run to the Devil when they need an out.
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste…
I’m a Catholic and I have no issues wishing someone off this guy and those pedo fckers. And Glen, I’m not saying Pope is one of them!
A good description of the whole Bush administration and Fox news.
Maybe an exorcism of most “Conservatives” in congress is in order, since they certainly don’t follow Christian teachings and values, doing literally the opposite whenever possible.
Ah…an unhealthy need for constant male companionship. If the Catholic Church had a bumper sticker, that would be it.
Someone should tell the Catholic Church that if there was a Satan that could make people spit out nails and pieces of iron, the U.S. government would most certainly have recruited him for use in their war on terror by now.
Since I’ve not seen anyone on Fox News spitting nails, I’ll call shenanigans on this one.
The priest is old, and obviously not all there. “These aren’t the droids you’re looking for, move along.”
Whatever you do…blame the Jews, immigrants, health care death panels, Satan, or a magic space goat, but do NOT take responsibility for your own actions.
I don’t like the way he is lookin at me with that in his hand.
My bad… Sorry won’t make em do it again.
Don’t mean to sound skeptical but is there a video of someone spatting out nails or pieces of glass?
Such a video would also help in the church recruitment process.
anybody else do the math – thats 7.67 cases of demonic possession every day of every year for 25 years. Yea, thats totally believable
85
God forbid that religious folk should actually take responsibility for their own actions!!
Seriously though, this applies across the board to most humans these days. No one takes responsibility for anything anymore. And, nowhere is this more true than in parents not taking responsibility for parenting.
Why is your so poorly behaved? Too much violence on TV.
Why isn’t your kid learning? Must be the teachers.
Why is your kid an idiot? My kid is not an idiot. We just need to get rid of these advanced classes for the other kids who keep making my kid look stupid. (Never, well … duh … maybe it’s because both parents are idiots.)
And, in the ultimate non-parenting case:
Why did priests kill, enslave, and forcibly convert native peoples of the Americas? They were silently longing for Christianity … to come and kill, enslave, forcibly convert them and in the process destroy their way of life.

And, similarly for people throughout their own lives. No one ever says, “yup, I guess I fucked up.” Except, maybe Britney Spears. When she fucks up, she sings about it.
Ok, you are correct, he is 85, but I assume he didnt start doing exorcisms at birth, so let say he has been to them for 60 years, even then its over 3 a day, every day. thats a lot possessions. I dont believe that number for a minute, like many other things to come out of big organized religion, Its unrealistic, or just untrue!
The answer is still 42
I’m a Protestant layman and I cast out demons religiously. Of course, I don’t know how else you could do it….
Pope John Paul 2 started a school for exorcists because Rome that surrounds the Vatican is having a surge in Satanism. If these people want to become Christians, You HAVE to spiritually clean them up.
I cleaned up two young Christians who wanted to get out of witchcraft. I had to clean out the spirits and ghosts from their places of residence. A lot of idols, charms, fetishes and books had to go. The occult activities had to be confessed and renounced. The demons had to leave them and their families. Typical junk.
The devil can strongly influence you to do something if you have previously submitted to the devil, even indirectly. In Voodoo, they let the devil take them over temporarily through dancing, drumming, chanting, etc.
This is not insanity, as we can command the hypothetical demons to stop and the influence is totally gone just like throwing a light switch. True insanity would keep on keeping on.
Father Gabriele Amorth: 70,000 cases of demonic possession
Wilt Chamberlain: 20,000 women
I’d rather be Wilt.
Possession is 9/10 of the law.

Well, I hope you donated those things to charity.

#24, Getting rid of those things was complicated. My city has a burn ban! I finally poured blessed oil on them and buried them in a dumpster.

Please tell me that your whole post is a joke. It is. Right?
First, insanity is a legal not a medical term. Psychologists and psychiatrists do not use it as any form of a diagnosis. It is simply the ability to tell right from wrong as used in criminal courts and to form legally binding contracts in civil court.
That said, schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by abnormalities in the perception or expression of reality. If your post was actually serious, this is likely your condition. You may want to see someone for an accurate diagnosis.

#27, sorry to upset you by punching a hole in your Humanist worldview.
#22, qb, After 20,000 women… no wonder they call him wilt.
