Oh, brother…

  1. #91 – Dr Dodd,

    Typical liberal.

Is that your idea of an insult? I’m not 100% typical but am definitely a liberal. So, certainly no offense taken. If you want to insult me, you’ll have to work harder.

If you want to make your point, you’ll have to actually answer some questions when asked. But, you’re just interested in throwing shit out there and seeing what sticks.

You haven’t shown any evidence of the patience, intelligence, logic, rationality, or just general smarts to have an actual debate.

So, I’ll state it again. You think I’m going to hell because I don’t sycophantically adore your god. This does not make you a good Christian. It makes you pompous, holier than thou, and at least a little bit hateful.

Your god may not appreciate your taking of his job by sitting in judgment of others.

  2. Dr Dodd says:

#92-Misanthropic Scott-You think I’m going to hell because I don’t sycophantically adore your god.

No, you will be judged by God on whether you accept or reject the free gift of salvation through the sacrifice of his Son Jesus Christ.

I personally don’t judge in the context you are referring. Fortunately, there is no Godly rebuke for stating personal opinion.

This I am more than happy to do.

  3. #93 – Dr Dodd,

#92-Misanthropic Scott-You think I’m going to hell because I don’t sycophantically adore your god.

No, you will be judged by God on whether you accept or reject the free gift of salvation through the sacrifice of his Son Jesus Christ.

C’mon Dodd. Try just a modicum of logic please. How are these two statements different? What must one do to accept such a “free” gift? Spend every Sunday in Church? Confess one’s “sins” whatever sin means? Engage in ritual mock-cannibalism? (Don’t bite the host!)

Must one stop reading about evolution in your sect? How about the big bang? Are these threats to your insecure god or is s/he OK with them?

May one eat pork, shrimp, and lobster in your sect? How about meat on Friday, and if so, when did that change?

May I work for a bank in your sect or is money lending still outlawed?

Lastly, am I allowed to think in your sect? How about engaging my logic circuits? I bet not. In fact, given your statements so far on this thread, obviously not.

But, please, if you check back, do answer how the two statements above are different. That is the crux (so to speak) of this point.

“No, you will be judged by God on whether you accept or reject the free gift of salvation through the sacrifice of his Son Jesus Christ.”

There is so much in that sentence that I don’t understand.

How do you know that I will be judged by God? Have you spoken with him/her/it? And don’t tell me that it says so in the Bible – that doesn’t help me in the slightest.

By the way, if I were a supreme entity that had built the universe and its contents, I should be most insulted to be referred to as “Him”, which is a sexual designation for one half of any animal species. Much more respectful would be “It”.

What is this free gift of salvation of which you speak? Salvation from what exactly?

As for “sacrifice of his Son Jesus Christ”, let us assume for one moment that some guy called Jesus actually existed about 2,000 years ago and was executed because he was apparently a nuisance to either the Romans or the Jews or both. Now, can you please explain to me, in terms that I can understand, what on earth that has to do with me in the year 2010 C.E.?

Finally, can you explain to me the detailed biology of the designation “Son of God”? Because that makes no sense to me whatever.

  5. Dr Dodd says:

#94-Misanthropic Scott- am I allowed to think in your sect?

Well, you’re not thinking a lot now so anything would be an improvement.

    >>What must one do to accept such a “free” gift?

A free gift is a free gift. The only thing required is to accept Christ. The rest of your list is optional.

As far as who is going to Hell I really can’t say. But, now that I think about it I probably haven’t done you any favors by telling you the secret of avoidance.

When your turn comes to stand in front of the “Big Guy” you now won’t be able to use the “I didn’t know” defense.

You gotta hate it when that happens.

  6. Dr Dodd says:

#95-fred-How do you know that I will be judged by God? …And don’t tell me that it says so in the Bible – that doesn’t help me in the slightest.

Interesting deception. You want to stack the deck by disallowing the best history book of the day?

It’s like me asking you to prove the French Revolution happened without the benefit of a modern day history book.

    Nice try though.

  7. #96 – Dr Dodd,

Well, you’re not thinking a lot now so anything would be an improvement.

I’m not thinking??!!? You’ve piled crap on top of crap on top of crap without even successfully being able to interpret your own crap and answer specific questions about it.

I was wrong. God didn’t give you a brain. Nor did your genetics.

And, I’m not interested in using your didn’t know defense, which from everything you’ve said wouldn’t have worked no matter what. As I said, if I’m wrong, I’m going to try my best to punch your sadistic, literal bastard of a god in the nose.

  8. #97 – Dr Dodd,

You want to stack the deck by disallowing the best history book of the day?

History book? Wow. You are about as far from reality as you can get.

So, the plagues were literally true in what passes for your brain? The parting of the sea?

This is your idea of history?

So, in your infallible bible, which story of the freeing of the Hebrew slaves is correct? The Moses story of Exodus? Or is the Tanakh correct in that Cyrus the Great freed the Hebrew slaves and gave them monotheism in the form of Zoroastrianism?

    http://tinyurl.com/yfaarx4

What about the obvious contradiction that the bible states that the universe (and earth) were created after the rise of agriculture? What do you have to say about the historical accuracy of a book that puts the age of the earth as less than the age of agriculture?

What about the historical accuracy of the following?

Adam and Eve (the only two people on the planet) had two sons. The end.

How exactly do you explain the historical accuracy of Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel with the observable fact that there actually are people on the planet today?

Think!! If you’re capable of it at all, think.

You have not done so on this thread yet.

“How exactly do you explain the historical accuracy of Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel with the observable fact that there actually are people on the planet today?”

Oh, that’s easy – it’s a bit like “tits all the way down”, except that here it is “incest all the way down”. 🙂

  10. Dr Dodd says:

#99-Misanthropic Scott-Adam and Eve (the only two people on the planet) had two sons. The end.

    See… not thinking again.

Do you really believe everything that happened ended up in the Bible? Do history books contain all information?

Of course God created more people than Adam and Eve. They happen to be significant for being the first people and their actions explain how sin was introduced into the world.

    >>which story of the freeing of the Hebrew slaves is correct?

You are surprised there would be multiple versions of history? Even today we see liberals rewriting history to meet a political agenda.

Isn’t the Mexican version of US history different from the American version?

It would be fishy if there weren’t multiple views of what happened depending on points of view. After all, people are people and some things never change.

  11. #100 – fred,

… it is “incest all the way down”. 🙂

Good one!! But, I’m not aware of anyplace in the bible talking about the children of Cain and Eve.

  12. #101 – Dr Dodd,

Of course God created more people than Adam and Eve. They happen to be significant for being the first people and their actions explain how sin was introduced into the world.

But, they were created after the invention of agriculture and at a time when there were large scale civilizations on the planet. And, no one ever mentions this. You just made it up.

You are surprised there would be multiple versions of history? Even today we see liberals rewriting history to meet a political agenda.

I wouldn’t be surprised by multiple histories. But, first, one of these is ludicrous, hallucinogenic fantasy. Further, this is from a book claiming to be the word of god. Is your god incapable of getting it right?

And, Dr. Dodd, are you ever going to attempt to answer this one?

Tell me, what happens to a good and decent human being who never hurts anyone, gives to charity, and does all the right things, but happens not to believe in jesus and maybe doesn’t believe in any god at all? Will such a person go to hell? What would the crime be?

    Go ahead and answer.

When you think about this long enough, if you’re capable, you’ll know why I abhor your pedantic, little, officious, petty tyrant of an imaginary god.

Why are people incapable of dreaming up a god who does not have the manners and morals of a spoiled child? If we’re going to dream up an imaginary friend, how about actually starting with the definition of friend?

And, just for humor, at least we agree on something.

  13. Damn! I forgot to answer this point of yours Dr. Dodd.

liberals rewriting history to meet a political agenda

Are you kidding??!!? It’s the Christians who are rewriting history, from the powerful Texas school board, to create a United States that is a Christian nation. Hateful, lying, bastards!!

  14. Dr Dodd says:

#103-Misanthropic Scott-Tell me, what happens to a good and decent human being who never hurts anyone, gives to charity, and does all the right things, but happens not to believe in jesus and maybe doesn’t believe in any god at all? Will such a person go to hell? What would the crime be?

You are applying human feelings and perceived fairness to spiritual matters. There is a lot going on in the spiritual realm that influences why things are the way they are.

Back to your question, the crime is sin. No one gets into heaven that has committed a sin. Since everyone has sinned good works is a false path to heaven.

This is why we must accept Christ. He has already paid the price for our sins making the only requirement to accept the gift of salvation.

As far as rewriting history you can spin it anyway you want, but liberals are trying to remove from the history books all information about Washington, Madison, Edison, Einstein, etc. and replace it with leftist heroes and the politically correct.

    Despicable!

  15. Wow. Dr. Dodd. You are really mentally ill. But, you are a perfect willing slave. Thy will be done! Even if it means that god is a royal son of a bitch.

And, included in history are Jefferson (Deist and anti-Christian), Einstein (who did not believe in a personal god), and most important, a constitution that explicitly says we are not a Christian nation.

    Jefferson: http://tinyurl.com/ybk8jqu

    Particularly relevant to this discussion:

Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law.

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Dr. Thomas Cooper, February 10, 1814

    Einstein: http://tinyurl.com/yhghjhs

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

What part of that makes us a Christian nation??!!?

“This is why we must accept Christ. He has already paid the price for our sins making the only requirement to accept the gift of salvation.”

You keep saying things like that but what on earth does it really mean “He has already paid the price for our sins”? Look, if he existed, he was a revolutionary who was uncomfortable to the powers at the time and was duly disposed of. This has happened to thousands of people throughout the ages and will do so in the future. That has absolutely nothing to do with me or my beliefs or the way in which I choose to organize my life.

It seems to me that you just trot out trite phrases that you have heard thousands of times from preachers without really thinking what they mean or whether they are even logical.

Several of us have tried to ask you for answers to specific question and, on each occasion, you have either avoided the question or failed to give a direct answer because you are either incapable of or unwilling to do so. This is not particularly conducive to trusting or believing your position.

  18. #107 – Dr Dodd,

#106-Misanthropic Scott-Wow. Dr. Dodd. You are really mentally ill.

Lighten up Sheldon or I’ll whip out the kryptonite and call your mother.

Go ahead and call her Penny. Unlike the “real” Sheldon, my Mom isn’t a Jesus freak and will agree with me about you.

Now go get your panties of the electrical wires.

  19. #108 – fred,

what on earth does it really mean “He has already paid the price for our sins”?

It means that he died for our sins. So, if we don’t sin, he died for nothing. :O

  20. Just out of curiosity Dr. Dodd, are you ever going to answer my question?

Too bad you don’t have a sense of humor. I was hoping to find some redeeming quality about you but I guess it was not to be.

  22. Dr Dodd says:

#111-Misanthropic Scott-Just out of curiosity Dr. Dodd, are you ever going to answer my question?

OK – Your destination will be the same as Satan and of the fallen angels that chose to follow him.

    The Lake of Fire.

  23. Dr Dodd says:

#108-fred-Look, if he existed, he was a revolutionary who was uncomfortable to the powers at the time and was duly disposed of.

You don’t have to go to the Bible to know Jesus existed. The most obvious indication is the BC/AD – Before Christ/After Death method of measuring time.

Yes I agree, He is revolutionary.

Duly disposed of – I think not.

  24. #113 – Dr Dodd,

    The Lake of Fire.

But, he loves me. He loves me … and he needs money.

So, s/he’s going to ship me off to the lake of fire because I don’t sycophantically worship him/her. I’m glad you finally admit that the two statements are the same. My work here is done.

If you still think that sick bastard is worthy of your worship, go ahead and bend your knee to that pathetic, small minded, insecure, imaginary friend with the really bad temper. The desert war god is not for me.

As for my sense of humor, yes I have one. I got your joke, found it neither funny nor obnoxious, so I played along with it and followed it to its logical conclusion.

Did you have much trouble getting your panties off the electrical wires?

  25. #114 – Dr Dodd,

I just love your definition of proof.

    http://tinyurl.com/yen33pe

So, a notation that came about 525 years after the supposed death of Christ proves that Christ existed? You’ll have to get a whole lot closer to the time of his life than that to make that assertion.

How about something written during the time of his life? Do you have anything?

    I thought not.

One controversial writing may or may not be genuine. Such is not proof of anything. However, since parts of it may be genuine, I accept the possibility that Jesus as flesh and blood may have existed. I just don’t see any proof either way.

    http://tinyurl.com/5r3sb

So, I remain agJesusistic about the man and atheistic about the existence of any gods, let alone a petulant little child with multiple personality disorder, in the sky watching over everything I do and actually caring whether I sing praise to their name(s).
