‘Atheist Agenda’ Group Starts ‘Smut for Smut’ Campaign – myFOXphoenix.com: It’s part of a campaign called ‘Smut for Smut’ sponsored by the student group, ‘Atheist Agenda.’
“We are comparing their religious text to pr0n..” says group member Carlos Morales.

Oh, brother…

  1. bobbo, keeping the truth as a touchstone says:

“Oh Brother” /// What does that mean?

I like the issue as a general piece of “street theater (of the absurd)”.

What you have here is a rather silly legal exchange of Pron for Religion. Pron is rather silly. Religion is rather silly.

Seems perfectly symmetrical to me and with deeper meaning than people truly wed to simple ideas/dogma will ever try to grok.

  2. Dallas says:

Competition is a good thing. Let the best story win.

  3. Improbus says:

    Printed porn? How last century.

  4. Benjamin says:

Wonder what kind of pr0n you get for the Koran. Or is it just bashing Christianity only?

  5. Benjamin says:

I went to school there for a few semesters before I went to a real university. I just realized that from reading the article and watching the video. I don’t recognize anyone because it had been twelve years.

  6. Rabble Rouser says:

Heck, we did that aeons ago!
The solution: Put Pr0n in the Bibble.

  7. Zybch says:

How bout some Jesus porn, where the stigmata holes could be used for another purpose…

  8. Dr Dodd says:

How brave of the tolerant atheists to constantly ridicule Christians and take cheap shots at the Creator of the universe.

Ironically, such attacks give the impression that you are afraid of something.

I guess an eternity is a long time to chew on that one if you’re wrong.

Yep, I can see why you are scared… I would be too.

  9. Whaap says:

Pron for Bible. . . sounds like a fair trade to me… no actually the pron has more educational value by far. I wish I had a bible to trade.

  10. Zybch says:

#8 Yeah, its SO much better than demonizing whole sections of the community, picketing funerals and murdering doctors because they are perceived to violate some stupid laws from 4000 years ago that some stoned guy claimed to have been given by a burning shrub. Much much better.

  11. fpp2002 says:

#8 since when is religion above ridicule?

  12. Dr Dodd says:

    #11-fpp2002

Religion is ripe for ridicule because of man’s tendency to corrupt perfection.

  13. fpp2002 says:

#12 religion is perfect? How so? It’s perfect when religious folk start wars and kill each other over their imaginary friends?

  14. Benjamin says:

#10 I think you are confusing Christianity with the ravings of Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church that is neither Baptist, nor a church, but actually a tool of Satan to make unbelievers stay lost and give Christianity a bad name. And some nut that shot some guy.

Jesus offers freedom from sin. You can accept Him or reject him.

  15. Dr Dodd says:

    #13-fpp2002

Religion will never be perfect because man tries to insert his own selfish ideas of how things should be done above the teachings of God.

    Only God is perfect.

  16. As an antitheist, I agree that the bible is smut. However, I still wouldn’t support the idea of handing out either one. Let people buy whatever form of pr0n they like.

From the article: Atheist Agenda leaders say porn is no worse than what’s written in some parts of religious texts.

That much is certainly true. Check out the story of Lot.

    Genesis 19:8: http://tinyurl.com/yerb88o

Behold now, I have two daughters that have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes; only unto these men do nothing; forasmuch as they are come under the shadow of my roof.’

Later, these same two daughters thought so highly of their father for offering to sell them into sexual slavery for a few minutes peace and quiet with the visitors that they did this (if you believe anything in the bible is true … which I don’t).

Genesis 19:31-36: (same link contains this too)

31 And the first-born said unto the younger: ‘Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth. 32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.’ 33 And they made their father drink wine that night. And the first-born went in, and lay with her father; and he knew not when she lay down, nor when she arose. 34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the first-born said unto the younger: ‘Behold, I lay yesternight with my father. Let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.’ 35 And they made their father drink wine that night also. And the younger arose, and lay with him; and he knew not when she lay down, nor when she arose. 36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

    Isn’t this great?!

Any fathers out there with one or more daughters? If so, please tell me how drunk you would have to be to not recognize your own daughter. When you get done imagining that, let me know if you think you could perform sexually after that much alcohol.

  17. fpp2002 says:

#15 how do you know god is perfect? How do you know your god is perfect, and not Zeus, or Thor?

  18. #10 – Zybch,

#8 Yeah, its SO much better than demonizing whole sections of the community, picketing funerals and murdering doctors because they are perceived to violate some stupid laws from 4000 years ago that some stoned guy claimed to have been given by a burning shrub. Much much better.

Apparently, neither you nor the doctor murderers know their bible. Abortion was practiced as early as 1550 BCE. http://tinyurl.com/ylas4tw

This means that it was almost certainly known by the supposed time of Jesus … and even before the supposed time of Moses. http://tinyurl.com/yzstmsv

And yet, neither the old nor the new testament explicitly mentions abortion as any kind of crime or sin. So, since we can see from the story of Lot that the bible authors were not prudes, we must assume that neither Moses nor Jesus, if either or both was actually an historic character rather than a work of fiction, objected to abortion.

Yup. It’s true. Abortion was known in biblical times. Abortion was performed in biblical times. And, the bible does not state that it is in any way wrong, criminal, or sinful.

Isn’t it nice to actually know a bit about the texts that the religious folk want to inflict upon us?

  19. Dr Dodd says:

#17-fpp2002-how do you know god is perfect?

The older I get the more I am willing to accept certain things on faith.

As strange as it sounds there are some claims you just know to be true no matter if you can physically prove it or not.

    This is one of them.

  20. And, as long as we’re on the topic …

    http://tinyurl.com/yk4dfzm

  21. Benjamin says:

#17 “how do you know God is perfect? How do you know your god is perfect, and not Zeus, or Thor?”

The Bible tells me that God is perfect. That might seem like a cop-out answer, but sometimes you have to take things on faith.

Have you read Greek mythology concerning Zeus: not perfect? And Thor, in Norse mythology, allowed himself to be tricked by the giant Utgarda-Loki: not perfect. Greek and Norse mythology even show their gods as imperfect beings.

  22. #21 – Benjamin,

#17 “how do you know God is perfect? How do you know your god is perfect, and not Zeus, or Thor?”

The Bible tells me that God is perfect. That might seem like a cop-out answer …

Nope. It’s not a good enough answer to be a cop out. It’s utterly circular reasoning. God is perfect because the bible says so. The bible is perfect because it is the literal word of god.

If neither were perfect, how could you know it?

Perhaps if you looked at the inherent contradictions in the bible, you would see that it is not perfect. Then you could properly deduce that it could not be the literal word of a perfect god.

  23. Zybch says:

#14 as soon as the ‘real’ religions stand up and condemn Phelps and his inbred kin instead of turning the other way because they tacitly approve, then I might think differently.

  24. #14 – Benjamin,

#10 I think you are confusing Christianity with the ravings of Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church that is neither Baptist, nor a church, but actually a tool of Satan to make unbelievers stay lost …

Actually, if they’re keeping people lost, doesn’t that mean they are doing the work of Jesus?

    Mark 4:11-12: http://tinyurl.com/yg6esyr

11 He answered them, “The mystery of the kingdom of God has been granted to you. But to those outside everything comes in parables,
12 so that ‘they may look and see but not perceive, and hear and listen but not understand, in order that they may not be converted and be forgiven.'”

Don’t blame me. It’s in your bible.

And remember, Jesus died for your sins. So, if you don’t sin, he died for nothing. (From a friend, not original on my part.)

  25. I’d better stop quoting scripture now. I’m starting to sound like a fanatic. It is fun though. The internet can make a bible scholar out of anyone. And, there’s just so much really good total crap in there.

  26. Dr Dodd says:

    #25-Misanthropic Scott

Well, aren’t you pleased with yourself as if you not only won the battle but the war.

Want to hear the funny part… closer… that’s right… ready – you lost and don’t even know it.

Now you can go back to staring at yourself in the mirror.

  27. qb says:

    #26 Dr Dodd

Thank Dog you’re here to judge everyone, we’d be lost without it.

  28. #26 – Dr. Dodd,

At least I made my point clear. I have no idea what you’re trying to say. Perhaps you’re just trying to keep me confused, as Jesus would want, so that I will burn in the hell that no benevolent god would ever create for ever and ever … because he loves me.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPOfurmrjxo

  29. Dang. Forgot about the dumbyas. Perhaps one of the eds will embed the video anyway … please.

  30. bobbo, its turtles all the way down says:

Dr Dodd—total smugness on display. Sin of Pride and so forth.

Don’t you know that the 11th Commandment is “Thou shalt not blog in an ugly way.” The only reason Moses did not report it was that god knew the masses were not yet ready for the internet.

    Silly Hoomans.

Benji—really now. Read the bibble and you got yourself one of the worst assholes for a god there could possibly be but then there is a line or two that says He is all good/merciful (whatever) and that if you can’t make sense of that you lack faith. The Greek/Norse/Roman gods at least allow man to be intelligent and to contest their lowly status against the gods.

Not so with the sheeple—denied the core of their humanity.

    Just think about it.
