A 37-year-old man allegedly took a woman from her Hemet home, handcuffed her and put her on a plane to the Philippines while posing as a federal officer, Hemet police said today.
Gregory Raymond Denny allegedly took the woman into “custody” on Jan. 15, when he went to a home in the 1200 block of Stepstone Court and handcuffed her, telling the other residents in the home he was deporting her, according to Hemet police Lt. Duane Wisehart.
Denny wore clothing with what appeared to be a federal logo on it, a badge around his neck and a gun belt and holstered pistol, Wisehart said…
At the airport, the suspect escorted the victim to a gate, took the handcuffs off and sent her on her way to board the plane, which she did, Wisehart said…
Denny claimed to be a federal officer…but an inquiry into his would-be status with the U.S. Marshals Service determined he has never been employed with the agency, or any other law enforcement organization.
Denny was booked into the Southwest Justice Center on suspicion of impersonating an officer, kidnapping, false imprisonment and residential burglary…
It was unclear how Denny could travel through an airport with a woman in handcuffs and his credentials not verified.
Denny had a phony badge and that was sufficient for the TSA to leave him wandering around the San Diego Airport with a gun and a woman in handcuffs.
Cripes!
According to The Press Enterprise, “he came in for questioning at the police station, wearing a fake marshal’s badge and a replica of a pistol on his hip”.
Here’s the Press Enterprise article.
Looks like the Hemet Police, TSA, U.S. Marshal, Riverside County DA, U.S. Attorney’s office, San Diego FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement are involved.
Car has sirens and flashing lights, too?
“..a gun belt and holstered pistol” and “..escorted the victim to a gate”
But if I tried to approach the gate with a 20 oz diet Mt Dew, my ass would have been tazed and sent to lockup.
The same would be allowed to happen in Canada. See the sad and buried story of Sandra Turner.
“Denny had a phony badge and that was sufficient for the TSA to leave him wandering around”
His badge was no more phony than the ones TSA “officers” wear themselves. Makes them look like law enforcement officers when, in reality, most are just high school dropouts working as security guards.
Read the Press Enterprise article linked in comment #2 above. They should have suspected something when he forced the woman’s mother-in-law to drive them to the airport!
wait a minute! Was she an illegal? If so, it would be his right to do a citizen’s deportation. Them darn illegals are taking away all our jobs dag nabbit!
This is why the TSA is completely useless. Any idiot that puts five minutes of thought into how to get around the TSA will be able to do so.
Want to go to the gate with your girlfriend but don’t have a boarding pass? Just wait for the drone to leave his post for his Dunkin Donuts break.
Want to walk your kidnapping victim through an international airport while carrying a gun? No problem. Buy a tin badge on Ebay.
I do not believe that the TSA has prevented a single violent incident since it was formed. The only reason more planes have not been brought down 911 style is because terrorists know that the other passengers would stop it (just like they stopped the shoe and underwear bombers).
I work at a facility that proctors exams that TSA employees must pass before they are hired. Let me just tell you that the “types of people” that come in to take these exams make me question the TSA as a legitimate security force. The TSA really needs to pay a higher wage and higher more competent, professional people.
What do you expect after so many years of “Never question authority” teaching that passes for education in the US these days.
Send this guy to go find Bin Laden.
