It’s a giant iPhone that you can’t make phone calls on.

  2. kramden88 says:

@chuck so you mean it’s a giant iPod Touch.

  3. Lou Minatti says:

Giant Fail. And I am an Apple fanboi. I do like the data plans, though.

  4. bac says:

If Apple did install a phone feature in the iPad, people would be complaining that they have to buy an optional bluetooth headset.

iPad is the marriage of iPod Touch, a netbook and a eBook.

People who do not need a desktop computer, laptop or phone will love this thing.

  5. Chrisb says:

Actually, those of us in IT sure noticed the Oracle announcement. Ellison basically gave his resellers the middle finger and told everyone they are going to sell Direct. Expect Oracle to lock in customers on their own hardware only in the coming future.

“People who do not need a desktop computer, laptop or phone will love this thing.”

That’s a pretty limited market, don’t you think? Oh, wait. That was your point. 🙂

When I first heard the news that Apple was buying 10 inch screens I thought this would be the most likely result and when we heard about the apts developers it was clear that it was going to be a bigger ipod/iphone thingy. To me that made it mildly interesting but what the heck are people getting hyper about? Anybody with a working brain knew what this thing was going to be like months ago.

  9. sentril says:

I think it will do okay just because of the whole ebook interface but other than that maybe it’ll be a decent gaming device but very unsure.

  10. Breetai says:

Ay first I was thinking a camera and phone were a bad idea for this thing. Then I realized they’re perfect!

Okay take the ideas of using this thing as a regular phone and throw that out the window, that’s dumb. and are you really going to hold this thing up like a camera and take a picture? Not doing that either.

BUT! What we do have here is the perfect device for a “Video Phone.”

But please don’t try it on AT&T.

  11. I think it’s a perfect bed-couch-toilet web browsing device.
