This shows the ridiculousness of the corporatist/fascist government the U.S. has had for the last 100 years.

#36, Forgot to include these interesting stats:
Financial, real estate and insurance industry PACs and employees have directed 58 percent of their contributions in the 2010 election cycle to Democratic candidates and committees, compared to 42 percent for Republicans
The same is true for health care interests. Health care PACs and individuals in the business gave 59 percent of their donations to Democrats this election cycle, and 41 percent to the GOP.
In the 2008 election cycle, health care interests gave 54 percent of their campaign cash to Democrats, and 46 percent to Republicans.
Even “miscellaneous business” groups, such as business associations, have directed 57 percent of their donations to Democrat in this cycle so far, compared to 43 percent for Republicans.
In the 2008 cycle, Democrats enjoyed a 53-47 percent advantage.
In this election cycle, Democrats have received 47 percent of the campaign cash from energy industries, compared to 53 percent for Republicans.
But in the 2008 cycle, Democrats collected just 34 percent of the donations from the energy sector, compared to 66 percent for Republicans.
Looks like the D’s are the friends of Big Business after all!
#36 Yep. I just saw that. Republican are overjoyed that special interest pockets just got deeper.
I see your second post, basically sidestepping the fact that the Obama administration fought hard to prevent exactly this sort of government corruption.
You’re just an ordinary sheep. Tomorrow you’ll be bitching why nothing is being done about it.
“… Republicans, meanwhile, were largely overjoyed, and conventional political wisdom dictated that the GOP would benefit from help by big business…”
Rupert Murdoch the Fox owner just made a huge deal with A Saudi Prince. They are going to do everything they can to make sure the USA stays dependent on them for oil. We have a thirty day supply of emergency oil which really isn’t any emergency supply at all. The Saudis now have the power to completely cut oil and drive everything to a halt and we have national security.Bush lies and says the war in Iraq is for freedom it was for oil.Saudi Arabia has religious police, treats their women as slaves and they are our good allies? We have the technology to replace most oil uses and at every turn its being slowed down and or stopped.
Energy needs to be generated as close to where it is going to be used. I think that the era of large, central generation plants – whether that’s coal, wind, nuclear, etc. – is slowly ending.
One thing about moving away from gasoline is the issue of taxation, $.18 per gallon, to the National Highway Fund, for road maintenance. The government will want to tax electricity somehow. I’ve always wondered how that will work out on electric bills?
#41 Figures you dismiss the recent ruling to allow to even more bribe money from corporations to lawmakers.
Instead you and your Republican slimebags throw a red herring to distract the sheep.
Where’s my gun.
#29 Why does an energy grid require federal land? Other than the right to cross an occasional plot of ground it never has in the past.
If his plan for alternative energy is so efficient, he should fund it himself (and horde the profits if he’s right … and he might not be right).
#38, Oh, I know Obama didn’t want it. But the rest of his cronies do. Just look at the numbers.
I know the R’s want it. But McCain doesn’t.
Strange.
