Not Ted Kennedy, this one:
The candidacy of Joe Kennedy, a little-known insurgent candidate who bears no relation — or resemblance — to Massachusetts’ first family of politics is raising the possibility that some confused voters may pull the lever for him in Tuesday’s special election for the late Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat.
With the race at a statistical dead heat, the number of votes Kennedy attracts could sway the outcome of the high-stakes race. In an ironic twist, if enough longtime Kennedy supporters pull the lever for Kennedy, it could doom President Obama’s plan to overhaul the U.S. health care system — a goal Ted Kennedy championed for decades until his death last summer.
No chance this guy wins, but he’ll probably take away some Democratic votes from Coakley, which could push Brown to the front.

And that would certainly piss off the HC lobbyists. They’ve spent a fortune backing her.
Coakley doesn’t deserve to be Senator. As Attorney General she campaigned to keep innocent people in jail even though the crimes described were impossible.
Prosecutors should be about finding the truth. Instead, some have that attitude that the truth should not get in the way of a good conviction.
good
“take away some Democratic votes from Coakley”
Democrats switching to a libertarian how does that work? The group that wants more government voting for the candidate of less government? They do say Massachusetts politics is different. Would be nice if he would drop out though.
I almost feel like I should vote.
people will vote for him just because he’s named Kennedy. because no one votes based on the facts, or on voting records. they vote for a name, or a handsome/kindly looking man. And then you find out they’re selling you out wholesale to China for some cheap hookers and blow.
These are politicians, and they count on a majority of their constituents being either complete and utter morons OR easily influenced to the point of blind allegiance.
It would be really interesting to see a Libertarian make it into a Mass. Senate office.
It should be a pleasant eye-opening experience for the people of Massachusetts when they replace a fat arrogant alcoholic murdering philanderer with an intelligent Scott Brown as their Senate representative.
Off topic: Have all the editors frozen to death in this era of extreme global warming or was there a coup? Is this now Cherman Uncensored?
Scott Brown Nude! Thats what massachussets needs, some congressional beefcake!
Maybe Joe Kennedy will win purely on name recognition. I’m having Distinguished Gentlemen deja vu.
Kennedys have been screwing with Mass. politics since the 50’s. Maybe it is the name not the family.
Obviously the solution is to simply take all votes for Kennedy and give them to Coakley. After all, they are her votes.
In fact, why bother with a vote at all. Just declare Coakley the winner, since any other outcome is either fraud or voter confusion.
Well Ted Kennedy totally screwed the last presidential election, so why not?
If you’re too stupid or too uninformed to end up voting for Joe Kennedy because of his last name then you probably shouldn’t be voting to begin with. But then again, people kept voting for Ted Kennedy even when they knew he killed someone so obviously Massachussetts is screwed.
The Massachusetts dems have always counted on the stupidity of voters to blindly vote for the name Kennedy, seems like it may bite them on the ass this time.
First the 04 Red Sox and maybe Republican in the Senate… pinch me.
Given Teddy-boys reputation as a whore-monger, who’s to say little Joesph isn’t his bastard child?
I mean Joesph Kennedy does have the same vacant look in his eyes as Ted “The Swimmer” Kennedy.
Change a few courthouse records then strap a neck brace on Joseph and he might even win.
I’m not voting for any of them. They all suck. Coakley has all the warmth and appeal of a cadaver and Brown is a knuckle dragging neanderthal moron. I don’t know why the hell the Mass Dem party keeps finding these really unappealing candidates like Mike Dukakis, John Kerry and Martha Coakley. Is there some kind of secret prune eating contest you have to win to get nominated to anything by the Mass Dems? So many of them look as if they haven’t had a bowel movement in years. Unlike Scott Brown, who I’m sure lives up to his name on a regular basis.
This race should be a BIG wake up call to Mass and national Dems NOT to take voters for granted. This was Coakley’s race to lose, and by gum, she will. Her abysmal record on prosecuting innocent people in witchhunts along with not prosecuting the politically connected has caught up with her. Moroever, the Senate “healthcare” bill is massively unpopular with both the Left and Right. Can that corporatist crap and start over again with Medicare for all, or at least a decent public option. Maybe having Scott Brown kick their lazy, myopic, over-bred, entitled asses will do the Dems some good. Never take the voters for granted.
I just hope Brown wins and the asshole Democrats put him in his Senate seat in time to kill the worst bill in US history.
Looks like Reid may be in trouble, too.

Anything that slows Obama’s reign of destruction is good. It would be cool to see Mass. wake up.
If his name were Joe Moore, his candidacy would be a joke.
#9 it happens from time to time. Once people were suggesting this should be Eideard uncensored.
